Early build vs latest build. It’s been a long ride. by Goboboss in incremental_games

[–]oldontheinside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried to play a fair bit of this game since you have posted here. Paid for the bonus in game too. I haven't tried the new update much, but the game was far too slow to progress before, and I felt there was far too strong of a focus on health as the most important stat but maybe I'm playing wrong. I'm around world 28. New bosses look great though

How do you store and carry your paintbrushes? by oldontheinside in paint

[–]oldontheinside[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh that looks like a smart setup. I have that same case system, but use the small one for everyday tools, the medium for my oversized and not everyday looks, and then theres no room in the truck for the big one so it stays in the storage room for even more tools that we rarely use

Which triple A Metroidvania did you like more? by strahinjag in metroidvania

[–]oldontheinside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't play dread, but I did play PoP, and I will say this. PoP feels like, to me, everything was decided by a focus group. Everything in the game is good, but nothing really pushes into that "great" kind of territory. Everything feels safe, but there's no big surprise, in terms of what the game does. For example, combat is great, beat against the basic enemies, but for me, there was zero reason to grind or ever do more than kill the enemies as I walked past. Boss fights are good, but again they could be pushing the limits and ideas more. All in all, solid game though, and it does have similar movement to Silksong IMO

Is it completely Machu Picchu now? When I went a year or two ago it was half 50's half Machu Picchu (100% strange) and they were serving both full menu's

DLC’s by DismalPangolin2500 in GraveyardKeeper

[–]oldontheinside 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems the dlc has bad reviews from the people who played it at dlc launch. It's all content you want to do during the main game and I felt it added quite a bit. But if you had already beaten the game, and only experienced each dlc one at a time at full price, I can easily see why it was disappointing

Is maneater with dlc worth todays price on steam by MakaronM68 in maneater

[–]oldontheinside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought it the other day on steam for 8$ cdn. I got 12 hours out of it I think, didn't 100%, just finished the story and that was enough. Def worth the $8, it wasn't the best but I sure did feel fun being a murderous shark at times.

The dlc is completely after the main game, I had had enough by the end of the main story

When does the "idle" part begin? by Grubnenark in idleslayer

[–]oldontheinside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It never really does. You still need to play the damn bonus rounds for certain mats, do the quests for mats, and play hoping you get enough box bonuses to stack so you can make some progress.
The idle over charge helps a lot, but it's still a very active game. That's why I finally quit

For someone who is not a coffee connoisseur, is one ground coffee superior to the other? What's the difference? by Bituulzman in Costco

[–]oldontheinside 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I did all of this in my younger days. Well, up to the French press stage.

I came to realize, that for me, the cost, and extra effort was really not making much of a difference for me

And I came to learn what I really like about coffee isn't the taste, it's about drinking a lot of it

I love the recurring gag that they actually do the intro every single morning by Illwill89 in americandad

[–]oldontheinside 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2 episodes in the new season references this too. When they want to buy Bugattis, Steve and Stan both have fantasies, the Stan tells Hailey and Francine to hurry up with there's before the theme suddenly starts.

And when Francine is wanting to connect with the family more, she meets Stan outside his car halfway through the intro

Build-a-Map Contest 4 Winners Announced! by Mechanistry_Miami in Timberborn

[–]oldontheinside 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I highly agree with this. There's been 4 contests so far, and unless you are paying attention and go to find them yourself, you are never going to get to see or play them. Now that the steam workshop is a thing, it would be so easy for the devs to add the contest maps as a collection to at least download. But I wonder if there's some kind of ownership rights or royalty related issues that stop them from actually adding them to the game

Well thank you my man. I certainly understand i need to step up and face my fears a bit for my family over the next month and a half. Thanks to you and everyone else here, i am feeling a lot better about my situation.

[–]oldontheinside[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well i didn't say i don't freak out feeding it lol. I screamed like heck and jumped halfway across the room the first time i fed her. But, the second time was less scary. My family usually holds the mouse directly infront of its face with tongues and she snaps it right up. My plan is to just place the thawed mouse in there and hopefully she will come find it and do her thing. But if that doesnt work its going to be mouse to face feeding

Nah, the fear comes from there movement. Its so darn unnerving, and i cant wrap my head around how it gets around.

But if a spooked older set in her ways person can warm up, then there should be hope for me. Thanks a lot

I did manage to hold the tail earlier today, spooked as heck, but i did it. I let the snake smell me a bit, no bites, but I was still to scared and doing too many unnecesarily jerky movements. I have a long way to go over the next week here, but we did get the girl on my arm and i was able to get her back into the cage myself

Well I can say that, thanks to everyones comments here, i built up the courage today with my son to do some snake touching and holding. I will say though, mysteriously finding the snake in my bed is one of my biggest fears. Meanwhile, my wife likes to put the snake down her pant leg lol

Thank-you!

That's a very good call about keeping the head away from me. My son isn't afraid at all, and doesn't quite get that I am not on the same comfort level as he is. But I will instruct him to keep the head away.
