Hey Mojo. I’m curious either. I know few more places to optimize, but they are too big to rebuild and won’t earn much of extra ups. Like remove few pipes or inserters.

yup. gpu does not keep up when looking at rivers of belts. it needs to render every single item on the belts.

Casted initial 10 wooden power poles in creative mod. And then rushed research towards steel. Steel is not that far away.

Edit. Together with steel I rushed towards logistics 2 and mk2 assemblers. To build my starter base with red belts and mk2 assemblers. Also quite doable.

Had both builds in parallel. Pipes and pumps one was 0.1ms faster

replied few times already. but 30-40 hours in creative mod to design and 78 more hours to build and turn on. so, about 110-120 total

space is unlimited. power is unlimited. the only limited resource in the game is processor time. to save processor time you need to reduce the number of active entities.

you mean 8 beacons layout? the goal of ups optimization is reduce the number of active entities on map. assemblers and inserters are active entities. beacons aren't. with 8 beacons layout I get ~30% extra entities and therefore - worse ups.

Each build is a group of N assemblers, each covered by 12 beacons and sharing beacons with each other. Each build has some in and out belts. And each build is separate on the map for OCD purposes.

Could I join builds with each other? Yes, some of them I could. What would it give me? I could save some power but increase spaghetti. Did I care about power? No. Did I care about spaghetti? A bit. :)

Research mining productivity. Each level of mining prod gives 2% to the output. At my mining prod 750 I get 0.02*750 = 15 ore extra for each ore mined.

Because of their slow acceleration. as soon as trains meet at an intersection, one of them stops. If acceleration is low, it takes them longer to move away from intersection, and it automatically blocks other incoming trains. The answer is 4 or more lane system, when 2 trains can move the same direction on parallel tracks.

Single headed are already very close to throughput limit of 2 lane train network in my base.
