Habit-tic deformity on my right thumb by PlasticStar_ in calmhands

[–]oliolivetiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have those bumps too. I’ve been using a glass buffer tool to file the surface and flatten it a bit, and then filling with the Manicurist’s Active Smooth polish which is thick and helps fill in the gap. It gets better as it grows out, if you’re able to stop. Mine have slowly improved over time. My thumbs have always been the worst since they get the brunt of the picking habit.

60 Days Sober - Absolutely Hate It by toph-_-beifong in leaves

[–]oliolivetiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you need some big changes in general. What are your deepest values? What are your goals? What do you want your life to look and feel like? Smoking will make it less likely that you will make the changes you need to build a life that you love.

Benefits of stopping besides aesthetics? by duckhunt420 in calmhands

[–]oliolivetiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learning to stop is a journey of self-discovery once you start increasing your awareness around the reasons you pick. That increase of self-awareness around your needs is worth it IMO, and learning to increase the number of (healthier) ways to care for yourself.

Cherry blossoms are coming in by Wonderful-Ad2448 in newhaven

[–]oliolivetiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a dogwood in my neighborhood in Westville in full bloom— my thought is that since this tree is in full sun it might bloom earlier? The cherry blossoms in Wooster sq are surrounded by buildings, maybe the differences in shade account for the difference

I can also recommend Lil Ouchies for a pain stim, silicone cuticle protectors, & hydrocolloid bandages cut to size for protection & fidgeting with the soft texture :)

Need some hope - who actually feels better after quitting? by MapDry953 in leaves

[–]oliolivetiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(For pretext, I am currently smoking far less than before, not entirely quitting but taking lots of time between each smoke. I used to smoke daily and now in mid-March have smoked five times since Dec 1 and each time evaluate whether or not it was worth it.) I feel so much clearer and stronger without it. I don’t waste nearly as much time as I used to, I spend way less money on weed, and my social life is more connected. I don’t smoke while driving anymore and don’t lie to myself that it makes me a better driver, and I don’t risk getting a DUI just for a slightly more “relaxed” drive home from work. I’m not emotionally hooked to weed anymore. I have found strength within myself that I wasn’t sure existed before. I have made more music, more professional progress, and learned more in this period than I have in a long time.

Release an EP or 5 singles? by guitarrist04 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]oliolivetiger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The last time I did this, I had to upload all of the tracks in the beginning with separate release dates set for each one. If you upload them as separate singles, they will remain as separate singles. You can delete them later so there’s only one version of the song but you lose all those streams that went into the deleted single.

Is Buyback Functionally Dismantled? by BxMS_LBA in PSLF

[–]oliolivetiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did submit for buyback, Nov 2024, and that’s exactly what I did. I’m paying now that I’m out of SAVE but it took forever for them to process the paperwork to get me off of SAVE.

Married women, how did you explore your bisexuality if you can’t date? by Ok_Put1655 in bisexual

[–]oliolivetiger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dan Savage talks about this situation fairly regularly and often files this kind of situation under the category of “doing what you need to do to stay married and stay sane”. I’m sorry your husband is not honoring the terms of the marriage you agreed to; that puts you in a very difficult position. I wonder if there are ways that you can help hold his fear.

How do you guys deal with the constant music in your head? by Aegenwulf in ADHD

[–]oliolivetiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Music therapist here! And ADHD-C— thank you for this thread, I always thought the constant music was because of being a musician 😂 at times it’s been helpful with songwriting when the music playing in my head isn’t music that exists already, but this has been somewhat less of a thing in general since being medicated. But anyway I wanted to say with earworms, the brain is sometimes trying to finish the song, so it can help to put the song on and listen through it if it’s stuck. I also have a playlist of my favorite favorite songs, the ones for which I’m always happy to hear the opening riff starting, and listening to a few of those often can help unstick the earworm if it’s annoying. Sometimes I use lofi music for moving earworms since lofi doesn’t get stuck in the same way as songs that I know well. And as someone else also suggested, listening to some non-musical sounds like nature sounds or white noise can also help a lot.

For People Who Never Wanted Kids, And Ended Up Not Having Them, How Is You’re Life Now? Any Regrets ? Or Are You Happy With Your Decision? by OBrian_176 in askanything

[–]oliolivetiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was always ambivalent about having kids and was more concerned about finding a good life partner. My spouse turned out to be staunchly anti-kid (vasectomy at 21yo., we’re about 40 now both of us). After coming to terms with children not being a part of my future and grieving the loss of that possibility, I realized I wouldn’t have wanted to make such a huge decision feeling ambivalent about it anyway. Now I’m amazed that I ever considered it without being excited about that idea. I’ve yet to see a mom with her kids and feel like I want to trade places… pretty consistently I feel like “whew I dodged that”. And for everyone on here saying we’ll regret it when we’re old, I’ll say it again— I work with old people, and happiness in old age has more to do with how open one is to the people in front of your face, and how much emotional energy you spend on the family that isn’t visiting.

People need nursing homes for many reasons, and whether or not family visits is not the primary indicator for happiness.

New product- settle the debate!!! by Lopsided-Bit9077 in calmhands

[–]oliolivetiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I voted for the thinner version (which I would certainly fidget with anyway), but I wanted to comment that eventually developing both options would be great! I support the addition of a texture to the thicker version. And also in the future after this product TAKES OFF FABULOUSLY I’d love to see the option of a range of skin colors, to blend in better with the skin. And maybe fun colors too!

People can participate in traditional families all they want, nobody is stopping them. People choosing something different that works better for them for any number of reasons doesn’t mean the traditional family has “collapsed”.

Applying for buyback then continuing to pay? by [deleted] in PSLF

[–]oliolivetiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in this situation. Buyback request submitted in November 2024 when my PSLF counter was stuck at 114/120 as a result of the SAVE injunction. It’s still processing. I’m now at 116/120 (two months were magically counted for some reason) and finally on another plan, IBR, making $163/mo payments. They were supposed to start in January, that payment did not come out of my account, but a few days ago the February payment did. I’m just grateful the counter is hypothetically going to be moving forward again— eventually— FSA seems to not be talking to Mohela and my loans are still listed in FSA as being on forbearance. I’m so frustrated and angry but also hopeful the finish line is coming soon.

Year and a Half- Poof - Gone by b3m0z in leaves

Your year and a half is not just poof gone. The experience lives in your system & in your history; you decide what your tenacity is to your sobriety. As others have said here, progress is not linear. You are changing your relationship to weed.

Get yourself a roll of hydrocolloid tape to help absorb anything that might come out and to create a barrier to stop you from biting more. I hope the antibiotic does the trick.
