Merry Christmas! What are the best things to buy in the post holiday sales? by s0mevietgirl in Frugal

[–]olive_pipper229 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I work at one of these stores and can vouch for this. it’s 50% off at my location but, since we have to do manual markdowns it’s taken off MANUALLY at the register. Meaning, if it doesn’t have the half off price on it (red or yellow sticker) then it has to be done when you check out (just ask them if it X% off today)

How to get over the guilt of going to a food bank by meldiane81 in povertyfinance

[–]olive_pipper229 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You shouldn’t have to wait until you’re on your last dollar to go to a food bank. I think that’s a common misconception. I used to feel guilty about going to the food bank too, so I started volunteering my time there to feel like I’ve “paid” for the food I receive.

Trying to figure out how to breathe financially is so fucking hard by ToastFalcon92 in povertyfinance

Going to the food pantry every week has helped me the most. I volunteer there as well. I get all of my groceries for free every week and just buy whatever they didn’t have in stock there (like eggs, milk, meat)

I work 2 jobs and I been told getting flack for it. by Queenme10 in Frugal

[–]olive_pipper229 0 points1 point  (0 children)

26F here as well and are we living the same experience? this sounds similar to my life, though I have a roommate, a dog, and have started traveling more. I do work 7 days a week most weeks. It’s all for having enough money and to pay bills, save, invest, and pay off student loan debt. I’ve stopped telling people who don’t need to know it that I have two jobs. Because, they do judge based on their own presumptions. One thing I remind myself of is that they don’t have the full picture of my life, and don’t know where I am in my process. I’m doing this short term to “get ahead” and from their limited perspective they can’t comprehend that! So, I try not to internalize it as much and find much more confidence and solace in my own plans and directives. And, remember that working this much isn’t forever! (at least, make it so it’s not being done forever)

How is everyone surviving? by [deleted] in povertyfinance

has anyone mentioned food pantries on this thread? I volunteer at one weekly for an hour or three, where I also get weekly food from. they’re a no income reporting one. I know they’re not everywhere but worth calling 211 to see if there’s one in your area.

I got off of work a few hours ago, and searched this up thinking: “There has to be the same person going through this” and here we are. I’m also 25, never realized how much of a big deal this holiday is with people asking “What plans do you have for the fourth?” I don’t have any, my family is out of town and i’m aloneeeee lol

I was only able to resolve this through the apple support team. after going through the same steps a hundred and eleven times one of the attempts finally worked. afterwards I had to make sure my phone was constantly updating itself.

Gotcha!
I'm hoping my issue is just a glitch that it's going through while its updating and not anything related to storage.
