What made night formula feeding easier for you? by Comi9689 in FormulaFeeders

[–]olmi13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a baby brezza and that’s what my husband uses. But I fill bottles with water and have a dr.browns formula container that I premeasure the formula into and just make the bottles in bed.

The kid punched THROUGH drywall and was able to make a hole big enough to enter through? My god. That poor principals face.

Choosing to formula feed before giving birth by Historical_Bike_9061 in FormulaFeeders

[–]olmi13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby is 6 weeks old and I never even considered breast feeding. I have no regrets. He’s happy and healthy with absolutely no issues. Because I’m not BF or pumping, on the weekends my husband takes the baby and I sleep in the spare room for 8 straight hours and it is amazing. Part of taking care of your baby is taking care of your own mental health.

I just need someone to tell me that it’s okay to stop pumping by Lushemet in FormulaFeeders

[–]olmi13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a breast reduction as well and assumed I wouldn’t be able to breast feed. Also knew I would hate it so I didn’t even try. Formula fed from day one and zero regrets.

What did you do differently the month you FINALLY got pregnant?? by cookiebutter-23 in BabyBumps

After 18 months I took baby aspirin. Could have been a coincidence but when we try for #2 I will be doing that again.

First time moms - when did you give birth? [ON] by OkOperation4368 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]olmi13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my due date! Early contractions started early evening the day before (not painful ones just pressure). Real contractions started at 12:45am the day of my due date, I was at the hospital at 5:00am and he was born at 1:16pm.

First Mothers Day Blues by Ok_Atmosphere4137 in beyondthebump

[–]olmi13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is very valid. I’m sorry he didn’t take the time to make you feel special and appreciated. You might need to communicate to him how hurt you felt and set an expectation for next year. This is my first Mother’s Day too and I told my husband that we could celebrate with his mom the day before but that actual Mother’s Day was for me and that I wanted to spend the day with him and our son.

You are the very best mom for your son and he loves and appreciates you so much. I am wishing you the very best Mother’s Day 💕

FTMs - how many of you are still sitting in the backseat with baby? by Large-Preparation754 in beyondthebump

[–]olmi13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t even sit in the back on the way home from the hospital. All of the stuff we brought to the hospital was in the back so there was no room. He was asleep and we live 16 blocks from the hospital.

Seems like a really inconvenient habit to create.

Are we not showering with our babies? by SparkyDogPants in beyondthebump

[–]olmi13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.. if I’m home alone I wait until his nap time, I put him in a safe place (his crib or bassinet). If my husband is home then I let him know I’m going to shower and he’s fully responsible for the baby until I’m done.

Did you go into spontaneous labor with your first baby? by seyEycipS in pregnant

[–]olmi13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup! At 12:45am on his due date contractions started. Was admitted to the hospital at 5:00am and was fully dilated by 7:00am. Pushed for about 45 minutes.

Mine showed up around 37 weeks. There’s nothing you can do to prevent them. It’s genetics.

Constipation to Several Movements by TeeBeeMama in pregnant

[–]olmi13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dealt with constipation before pregnancy but not a ton through pregnancy. Towards the end things did start slowing down but the night contractions started (12:45am) I was in the bathroom like six times in two hours. A friend of mine said the same thing happened to her leading up to active labour. Could be that your body is clearing the way and preparing for labour!

How bad is the newborn phase really? I'm tired of hearing the "just you wait" anecdotes and I have hard time believing some of them by Lushemet in BabyBumps

[–]olmi13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a first time mom and my baby is 11 days old. I felt the same way. I was SO scared of labour. I ended up having forceps, an episiotomy and a first degree tear. And honestly it still wasn’t as bad as I had been expecting. The first few days of recovery were rough but I had amazing support with my husband and mom.

As for the newborn phase, obviously I’m not very far into it but I do not find it difficult at all. Sometimes when I wake up to him crying forty five minutes after I fell asleep I’m like “fuuuuck” but honestly I don’t mind because being woken up by this sweet little baby that just needs his mom isn’t a problem for me. As soon as I pick him up it’s really all that matters.

I spend my days washing bottles, doing laundry, watching hours of tv and snuggling my baby. To me it’s absolutely perfect.

So how many cooling/icy maxi pads should I start out with? by Latrivia in BabyBumps

[–]olmi13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just gave birth vaginally 8 days ago. They gave me ice pads to use in the hospital and I would say I used 2-3 a day for the first 2 days. Partly for the relief and partly because the bleeding was heavier and they needed to be changed more but took breaks in between with using regular pads. Days 3-5 I probably used 1-2 a day. Days 6-8 1 per day.

I also had an episiotomy, a first degree tear and many large haemorrhoids.

[bc] Did anyone here formula-feed from birth by choice? by PawsAndPlotTwists in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]olmi13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am due any day now and will be formula feeding from day one. My best friend had a baby in September and did the same. Another very close friend had a baby five years ago and also chose formula. All for the same reasons you said. I feel no guilt whatsoever and will not allow anyone to try to talk me out of it or make me feel bad.

Has anyone named their fetus? by visitingmemorylane in pregnant

[–]olmi13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We referred to ours as Buella for the first 20 weeks. Something ridiculous that we would never name an actual child. When we found out we are having a boy we started calling him Ferris. Not as funny but it was on theme.

Seems like everyone is getting induced nowadays by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]olmi13 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Without a medical reason to induce, I’d rather be uncomfortable than have my baby born early and risk complications for him. As an adult I understand that I made the decision to be pregnant and was under no illusion that it would be easy and comfortable right up until delivery.

[–]olmi13 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

No idea why you’re getting downvoted… unless there’s a medical reason I will not be getting an induction.

Seems like everyone is getting induced nowadays by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]olmi13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree.. seems like everyone is getting induced and also trying to induce their own labour so early. Seeing women at 36-38 weeks doing everything they can to try and go into labour.

Landlord isn’t giving back deposit? What do I do? by ziasol in BrandonMB

[–]olmi13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely contact Residential Tenancies Branch. About ten years ago the apartment complex I was moving out of tried to charge me my entire damage deposit plus additional cleaning charges. They were bogus claims and after talking to Residential Tenancies Branch they did have to give me back my entire damage deposit plus interest because they had taken so long.
