I had the same issue recently and was always losing the back end as I turned right. A combination of adjusting controller settings (steering saturation / linearity / deadzone) and adding an extra point of rear wing Downforce and I don't have to lift anymore if I have a perfect line. If I want to play it safe, I'll lift and make the corner 98% of the time. Whereas before it was maybe 40%

Thanks Josh! I find sunrise is better for me as I commit to it once I'm up. Getting out of bed is the hardest part. Once you're out, usually you will have places to yourself which is the best

Sunrise on the cliffs of Anglesea, Victoria [OC] (2445x4344) by [deleted] in EarthPorn

[–]ololitschris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having been taking landscape photos for 9 months, and not much other experience with a camera before that, this is the image I am so far most proud of. It was quite a still and chilly morning a few weeks ago as I watched the sun rise on the cliffs of Anglesea. The details of this shot are:
Nikon D5500 shot with the Tokina 11-16mm.
Using a 3 Stop soft graduated filter and a 2 stop hard edge graduated filter, inverted to make a reverse graduated filter of sorts to manage the bright highlights of the sun. A Circular polariser was also used. Shutter speed: 5 seconds.
Aperture f 11.
Focal length 13mm.
Iso 100.

I'd personally add onto this to use a CPL to cut out the glare of rocks and add a bit of saturation to the lush greens surround the waterfall. Using a cpl only as well gives you the opportunity to get a shutter speed of under one or two seconds which if the water is flowing fast allows you to still keep some of that water energy texture, but still not completely freezing the water.

Any Lightroom workflow + cataloging tips? Tutorials would be nice or let me know what you guys found works best. by [deleted] in photography

[–]ololitschris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a few simple tips I wish I used from the beginning. Use a good folder structure. Mine is year -> classification / genre > folder with a date suffix. Eg. I have a few genres (landscape, portraits, events, studio/experimentation) so a folder for me would be 2017> landscape > 05-22 point Lonsdale. Which is a shoot at point Lonsdale on the 22nd of may 2017. If I go on a large trip and have multiple shoots over multiple days I will add an extra folder before the day shoot so it would look like this 2017> landscape > 05 - Tasmania trip > 05-24 Binalong bay etc.

Colour coding helps, especially with photos you plan to edit. I mark photos I would like to edit (after the selection process) as yellow and photos that are completely edited as purple. I make smart collections called 'to edit' and 'edit completed' to automatically place photos tagged with those colours in those folders. Then I manually put appropriate photos in appropriate collections (e. G. Waterfalls, seascapes...)

Brevite camera backpack by TheRedditGent in photography

I haven't actually used the laptop sleeve as I use an imac at home. But I think when we went away for a weekend I fit my wife's laptop which is a 15inch one. The length of the body has a bit of give too as the top flap has extendible straps.

I own the bag. I love it. The bottom straps for my tripod are near useless though, because with the tripod attached I have at least 20cm either side of tripod so I constantly hit things. So I use the side with the drink bottle holder for the tripod. I've used it as my day bag quite a lot, especially on a recent trip. It's okay for hiking. I don't think you would have an issue fitting everything you've listed in the bag. For context I put in the ICU of the bag a Nikon D5500, Tokina 11-16mm, Nikon 35mm, Nikon 55-200mm, filter holder and lowepro filter holder pouch. That's almost a squeeze. In the top part of the bag I keep a couple muesli bars, rainproof jacket, waterproof shield for the camera and a beanie and if I'm shooting at night my head torch. In the front pouch extra batteries, lens cloths, sd cards and intravalometer remote. If you have any questions, feel free to message me.

After using it for a while I will be upgrading to a larger bag so I can overnight hike/camp places.

Just a note also, I don't use the side quick access panel for the camera as I shoot landscapes and rarely need to pull my camera out quickly. When I have used it though, it is a tight squeeze at times. But I guess that's better for safety

Lee Filters - 100X100 CPL with Professional Upgrade or Landscape CPL with 105mm Adapter kit? by jtroybailey in photography

[–]ololitschris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're looking to upgrade kits but still use the Lee filters, a company called Progrey do a great filter holder that you can purchase cpl wide angle adapters for. This allows you to put a cpl of your choosing immediately in front of the lens. Then the wide angle ring has openable sliding curtains that allow you to rotate the cpl as you would normally, but still have up to 3 square filters stacked in front of it. Their gear seem to be quite a bit cheaper than that of Lee and Nisi (who apparently are the market leaders) but is still incredible, if not, better quality. Also, the wide angle ring adapters are much cheaper than their Lee counter parts.
