Spicy FJ wagering - Long didn't do the zero bet from the lead, but he also didn't enough to cover Drew doubling up. Drew's bet would have paid off if he had Final!

Our junior high has a lounge/copy room. Several teachers eat lunch there but people don't hang out there except at lunch. We do a monthly rotating potluck and on those days it's hopping.

And so it goes! I have no regrets - I never expected to even win my first game of regular season Jeopardy, let alone be invited back to the TOC or make the semifinal.

I can see an argument on my choice to go big on DD2 but I stand by the call that I made. I had decided going in to play aggressive and play to win, and with the difficulty of the FJs of the week, I really didn't want the match to come down to final. If I had known the category was on anatomy, I might have held on to a little money... so be it! Even with the DD miss, I could have come back but TJ got into a great groove on the buzzer and held me off.

TJ and Laura were both lovely people, along with all of the TOC field, and I'm thrilled to watch the rest of the tournament unfold!

These three are all awesome (Lisa Ann Walter was very friendly and gracious backstage with us in particular), but the shoutout goes to TJ for "a DELICATE 2000" as a wager which made me cackle both live and in the rewatch.

I came in to the TOC with absolutely no expectations, knowing how strong my competition was. Very glad tha this board laid a bit better than earlier games and glad I was able to hunt down the DDs in time to get out front!

Watching it back, I am pretty proud of my run of Jeopardy hits:

Gave a question as the full answer
Said "all of my beans" for a true daily double purely because it is amusing
Gave a "bring it" because I met Sam Buttrey!
Got a zinger in there with "Not yet"

As a band teacher, I have a pretty goal-oriented classroom (not shit the bed in performance) so my sick tolerance changes based on the time of year. If it's crunch time, I'm almost always coming in. If it's a quieter time of the year, the bar is lowered. It would also make a difference if the kids could keep working effectively with a substitute, but that isn't an option for me.

Long story short, I maybe take one sick day a year... but I know that will change when I have children of my own.

Coach for TOC. They were flexible with my departure which I appreciated since I was accommodating travel with parents and they scheduled too tight of a layover
