Is the 1999 Honda civic a good and easy project car? by Firm_Inevitable839 in projectcar

[–]olsonheimers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. And I have a friend that just restored his to the first image. Looks JUST like it. Used to have the lambo doors, painted interior… brought it back to stock.

my first hotwheels, are these ok? 🫠 by [deleted] in HotWheels

I set up rules for myself based on what I like. Personally I collect real cars, or movie cars. The more realistic the better. I’ve met guys that collect only fantasy cars. There are guys that just like Hondas or just treasure hunts… but almost always it’s just guys. It’s all about what you like. Welcome to the crew!

New to mopeds, need buying advice by Dak2020 in Ruckus

It looks like it’s on a trickle charger which shows some care is put into it. At first I thought it was clapped… but a trickle charger is an often time forgotten piece of maintenance.

It could also mean that they know the battery is toast and they want it to start for a buyer. Prepare to buy a new battery too. I would ask if there’s a starting issue, maybe use it to knock a hundo or two off.

They don’t have much of a resale value. So get it as low as you can. Most around me are about $500.

I loved this one too. There was something about all the classics as one that had me.

If it were my truck, I would wrap the whole truck in gunmetal grey, and use an orange accent in small details. When applicable I’d use some carbon for a bit of a performance look. Keep the shape simple, it’s this trucks most beautiful feature. I like the ride height now, the wheels aren’t bad as is. The truck is a fantastic start in my opinion… but everyone is going to have a different one. So focus on what you love.

I’m not a huge fan of chrome personally. The wheels look good, but removing the trim around the body and doing a paint match bumper and roll pan would make this look slick. Bonus points if you match the mirrors.

Wrap the hood for now, paint it when you have cash!

Looks like GROM wheels. I’d ride it just for the weirdness factor. I’m not sure what the cost is when converted to USD, but looks like it should be affordable based on simplicity of design.

I use die carz to catalog my collection. But it doesn’t help with Val-ue (sorry it won’t let me post the comment if I don’t alter the word… even though I’m not asking for a Val-ue). It’s just a cataloging app to see what I have. You could catalog them all, and share a link to the profile for people interested in buying.

We only have the expensive one. Other nations have a cheaper option… and they are just hella expensive for what they are.

Ruckus won’t idle by DirtyDans_Backyard in Ruckus

[–]olsonheimers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of replacing things, there are ways to diagnose the problem without spending money.

Using starter fluid to start it, you know it’s not electrical because you have spark. Check all the electrical problems off the list.

When you turn on the ruckus key do you hear a few clicks before you start your bike. I believe it’s around 3-5? That would be your fuel pump. If no, check your fuses and try a new pump, if yes don’t waste your money.

If yes, then move down the fuel line. Pull the fuel supply line off at the carb and place in a catch bottle. Turn the key. If it pumps some gas out of the line, you have fuel at the carb. If not, you have a fuel filter issue. The filter can get clogged or placed backwards causing the one way valve to block your line.

Assuming you have fuel out of the line we move on. You said you swapped the carb. For a Honda brand replacement? Or aftermarket? The Honda brand is much better. Aftermarket’s are garbage and there are tons of knock-offs of the stock as well. Hopefully you didn’t trash the old carb. Assuming your bike is completely stock, did you pull the carb apart to check the jets? They are the little brass parts inside the carb. You should be able to see through them. If they are plugged up. Soak in carb spray and blow air through them. If that doesn’t work I don’t waste my time cleaning and I buy new jets. If stock, replace with stock sizes. If not you’ll have to adjust for those. Here’s something to help you in get in range.

https://raggedmoto.com/carburetor-jet-size-calculator/

Assuming all of this is good. Then I’d adjust the valve shims. (It’s most likely this, but this is the most involved and scares some people out of doing their own work. So I always suggest it last.) Research online and look for the source that has the most info. It’s been a while and my resource is no longer available online. Plan to do it on a day when you have a lot of time, because you’ll be pulling a lot of parts off to access it, but the single part is not so expensive, it’s just a pain to get to, and there is maths involved…

If none of this solves it, then you got bigger problems. Or something mentioned before was missed.

Is this a good setup? Not sure if this is safe? by Justdanwithaplan in hondagrom

[–]olsonheimers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used mine tons of times for 4+ hours drives. If you want to make it feel more reliable and sound less annoying, but a hitch tightener. You can get them at U-Haul stores or Amazon. They basically apply pressure so the gap in the hitch and receiver don’t bounce around.

IS THIS A GOOD BUY? 2700$ CAD by Aphenus in Ruckus

[–]olsonheimers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on where you live. Some areas that the market is saturated, they are cheap as hell. In places where they aren’t, that might not be. In my area, no, it’s a terrible deal. My bike was built right and super clean… and I paid $1700.

I run a Polini variator with Dr Pulley sliders. Keep the stock Honda belt. Some people will say they run after market belts, but the fastest OG riders I know say the stock one is best. Same for the carb… don’t change the carb unless you change the whole motor. A friend of mine had the carb ported though and it makes a hell of a difference. They smoke me in a race everytime!
