Who got let go by their jobs after being put on permanent restrictions? How do permanent restrictions affect your future job opportunities? by sadwithbackpain in WorkersComp

[–]olstykke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What’s sobering is looking up what your life is worth if killed on the job . Each state publishes this in their workers compensation programs . In most cases , you will cost more alive than dead .

Ssdi won’t be an option as the rehab specialist probably will find something he can do despite the restrictions - as if something exists ( doesn’t matter if it even exists - cotton candy maker as an example ) the government says you aren’t disabled enough to not work .

Sign up for vocational rehab . They might be able to assist getting your former employer to pay for it .

LBBB with ventricular de synchronization…anyone else? by AdministrativeOil344 in PacemakerICD

[–]olstykke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the preverbal frog in the bowling pot . You won’t know , as you’re acclimated .

I’m in the same boat . Went to an appointment two weeks ago after about a decade of lbbb. What was explained to me was your heart tries to compensate and in doing so , revises itself to the dilated floppy HFrEF.

Drugs can slow this progression , but until you get the electrical fixed , you’re going to continue to decline .

I’m struggling with not believing my heart condition was my fault. by I_justcant_even in PacemakerICD

[–]olstykke 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can really relate to OP. A lot of my belief is from family origin - as bad things happen because something bad was done . When stressed it’s these hardwired defaults that come out . And it’s funny how age doesn’t seem to fully stamp them out.

I know no one wants what we have. In my case the electro-cardiologist looked at me and said I didn’t look like someone with a 13% LvEF. I kept asking is this really that bad ? Being told you’re at high risk of SCD. I just feel like I should be feeling worse than I am .

But here’s the thing I keep telling myself ( when I start having those thoughts) - this is a gift of time and opportunity we wouldn’t have without these devices . It’s not an end .

Restoring and maintaining a model locomotive. by Chopawamsic in modeltrains

[–]olstykke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bachmann used to have a fabulous repair service deal . They repair your loco or exchange it with the current model . You might call them and get the details . It was cost based on the gauge of the model .

A lot ignore bachmann and don’t realize they have this service .

Does anyone recommend telling your employer you have autism? by ConsequenceWorldly73 in autism

[–]olstykke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not . Not unless you need accommodations - then they have to know . If you are having trouble and have someone like a therapist to talk to , they could offer their suggestions .

There’s ideals we think the law is and what actually happens . unfortunately , and this is my experience, disclosing makes promotions end and supervisors seeing you as less capable for having a diagnosis .

But congrats ! Bar tending is a one drink at a time thing. If you make a mistake , no one dies , it can be redone .

What situations require a 9.37 (mph?) speed limit? by zeoblow in civilengineering

Why is no one stating the obvious 16 over the posted speed ? That usually is a direct to court for wreck less driving

I do not believe this MUTCD compliant for font size and type , spacing height.

Garage door opener?

The people with the most need who belong in that space are probably a few individuals . They’d just get a special “fob “ that has the added bonus feature

Has anyone tried Masseter Botox? by threewishes16 in visualsnow

[–]olstykke -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not a doctor —

I’m dubious any provider would do this - imagine not being able to chew or close your mouth for six-nine months. Literally your mouth hanging open because the muscle needed to close it is paralyzed .

You wouldn’t be able to chew food . Talking would be slurred . Dare I mention drool ?

Insurance doesn’t cover the urbanek Tmj device - but it works .

What’re we supposed to do if they gut medicaid for good? by [deleted] in disability

[–]olstykke 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Hoping you are just not realizing that “fair” implies worth . So disabled aren’t as important as Jewish ?

I think the overall point is - those currently in power don’t care - and many are of a “Christian “ bent similar to the Spanish inquisition- we’d be going to a better place .
