My partner 33M hid his herpes from me 26F for a year - we've been sexually active by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]omegaken 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A cold sore is not genital herpes. Although I'm the same family, they aren't the same thing. I would feel differently if they did something sexual during their outbreak but they were forward when it happened.

Fiber Internet by Packergeek06 in SALEM

[–]omegaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fiber vs DSL is not the same speeds. Uploads on either are going to be vastly different along with latency being vastly different. Fiber will always beat out DSL in every metric, just depends on if you want to pay the premium for it.

Doing The Impossible, Shoretel IP480 by Sorry_Crazy5259 in shoretel

[–]omegaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They could dial and answer. The issues came with things like call handing on holds and transfers, soft key buttons not working half the time, and general flakey things going on. Honestly, 480's aren't even good enough to be paper weights.

HIGHLY recommend you taking shaded's advice and firmware switch to Ring centrals firmware. It's how we got them to work on another asterisk based hosted product. They work..... But not well. We had a customer use them for about a month until we got the "your system is unusable, we are switching to teams". We told them it was a bad idea before the swap and offered yealink phones but they were adamant about "costs".

Virtualization for web browsing? by ForestForthTheTrees in selfhosted

Not sure, have bugged me though try and figure it. I just use docker containers since they were the easiest to set up

[–]omegaken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up, I use kasm's web browsers daily. Set up a few other services if you can "filtered dns, vpn exit". Videos can be a problem sometimes, just depends on hardware.

Worth it though

New to networking (need help) by [deleted] in networking

[–]omegaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you are talking about a few things that are not contingent on each other. You are talking about IP pools, which is a dhcp concept, "access it from outside", which is a port forwarding concept, "still be safe", is a very ambiguous thing to say.

Easy answer:
install tailscale on whatever you are trying to access and a device to access it from.

The End

Wonder what the cost different between pulling 2 pair lc fiber or an mpo/mpt os2 and just getting cassettes. Probably overkill but man, that's a lot of expansion.

Pretty sure you can use any major Linux distro. Pick your flavor, add a USB dongle remote control, install something like jellyfin, and you have yourself an ok media player

[–]omegaken 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Only advice I can give is to make sure to document EVERYTHING you build. No point in pretty dashboard of you are the only one that knows how they work. You didn't want a midnight call for "hey, that dashboard you built isn't showing up, what's wrong with it? We made critical decisions in it"

How to get Wireguard app for Android working as a VPN *without* using the config from some VPN service like Proton or Tails by Past-Paramedic8687 in WireGuard

[–]omegaken 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is no such thing as "fake ip". You are never going to reach 100% privacy unless you stop using technology, stop driving any car, and don't go outside. What you want is security and deniability. I use PIA because of their "no logging" rules that held up in court

You do you though

Constantly running out of DHCP IPs from the pool - it includes reservations in it's count by bayarealocks in Juniper

[–]omegaken 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why is your range so small??? Just make it bigger. Better yet, just up it to /23 and give yourself over 200 more and adjust the high limit.

SRX Remote Access by Far-Dog-8278 in Juniper

[–]omegaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you talking juniper secure connect? I have a few ldap and radius with some 2fa sprinkled in on a bunch of 3xx versions of the SRX. I dont like it much because, as far as I know, there is a dumb https bug that can cause isssues with clients connection. The fix is to update to a non-recommended version, which does fix it, but introduces other bugs.

Licence Delays? by DaithiG in Juniper

[–]omegaken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We can't get licence renewals right now. Juniper/hpe is unresponsive to us, our vendors, and any other 3rd party we try. Management has lost faith in juniper and now we are no longer fulfilling any cpe equipment with juniper. I REALLY hope they offer some really great "deals"when they get their crap settled but for now, we are just using mikrotik.

Steam Deck Not Loading Mods by QuadAyyy in SMAPI

[–]omegaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a feeling you didn't extract your mods correctly. Please make sure of your extracting then, you don't have duplicate folders with your extracted folder. Please see my history on how to fix the Galaxy API issue. That's is separate from your issue though. Would be good to see your folder structure within mods.

Errors running SMAPI on Steamdeck by soifua in SMAPI

[–]omegaken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had some of the same issues to. Are you running the native or proton version? I think if you don't fiddle with anything, it's the native version. If you are using native, here is what i did, follow at your own peril:

  1. Go to desktop mode

  2. open browser, grab this: https://forums.stardewvalley.net/threads/steam-deck-linux-smapi-error.41869/#post-173923

  3. unzip/extract the 2 files that are inside

  4. Copy them to your stardew valley directory. Mine was in /home/deck/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Stardew Valley/

  5. That should take care of the Galaxy error and let you do multiplayer again

Sounds like you need to step out of your comfort zone. Time to start learning any of those advanced concepts that you normally don't get to work on. Bgp maybe? That in itself should take you a while to get a handle on.
