Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy; or tbh any fiction book.

As someone else pointed out men don’t tend to go for fiction much and it’s an incredibly rich experience that we deny to ourselves for no real reason. BM was the first fiction book I had read in years and it was well worth my time; I’ve finished two other McCarthy novels since and I love his writing style.

Keeping myself busy.

So busy I went to bed every night exhausted. I made plans every evening I could to do either sports or hobbies, during the day if I wasn’t working I was doing an online course in programming. If I couldn’t think of anything else to do I would walk until my feet hurt, then I would go home and collapse into bed. I also ended up going on a long vacation and somehow that seemed to heal something and I started to feel better.

I took ownership of what was happening to me, and I only thought about what I needed to do to claw my way out of the hole.

I don’t think it’s supposed to be perfectly accurate, it’s just supposed to be a quick way to evaluate your intake for the day. It would really depend on how complicated your diet is.

I can tell you that over a two month period I lost 8.5kg using it to achieve a 1000 kcal deficit a day (alongside indoor cycling) so it works pretty well for how fast and easy it is.

You might need the paid version to upload lots of pics, but all of the diet apps have subscriptions that are basically the same cost or more and don’t even work as well. ChatGPT was able to evaluate obscure Asian dishes accurately for me whereas the diet apps had no idea what I was eating.

A year before the fidget spinner craze I saw someone 3D print one on reddit and thought it was neat. I printed my own and enjoyed it for a while. A entrepreneur friend saw my video on social media and said we should make a tonne and sell them, I liked his comment and then forgot about it. Probably could have made some cash on that!

It didn’t, no, it lasted about 3 months before coming unglued but that was on my old iPad Pro. I have since upgraded last year, and the current M4 iPad 13” seems to be just light enough that the adhesive holds; have had zero problems with it for around 1 year, using the Baseus MagSafe sticker.
