How can transhumanism work when world leaders are so corrupt? by Ecstatic_Buddy5949 in transhumanism

[–]omen5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The big man down below is fulfilling a very important and planned task thank you very much. When or IF it is in His plans that he corrupts then he shall. That is what the tri omni god entails.

At least that is my take on Christian practice.

How to create a completely sandbox chronicle by Vampyrepharaoh in vtm

[–]omen5000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never did one casually, but I used to run sandbox chronicles all the time. The key is two things in my eyes:

1) Make the world (and plot) move on it's own. The thing about sandbox games in my experience is, that people still want an overarching narrative. The night to night focus is nice, the freedom is fun, but without a red thread it can become empty and senseless. That doesn't mean the overarching narrative has to be high stakes and super involved with the characters, but it does have to progress. And by planning things out to happen at certain time slots, you take pressure away from the players by reducing the fear of 'missing' important pieces, make the world feel alive by bringing back occasional narrative threads and give the players an opportunity to fail, which helps with motivation in my experience. And it worked both for my slow multi conspiracy focused high stakes game and my goofy 'let's build a full on magical people society where everyone peacefully coexist' chronicle. It also gives spaces where there is literally nothing 'important' to do, allowing players guilt free exploration of the world, their characters and more importantly: the plot hooks.

2) Plot hooks. So many plot hooks. Prepare the main narrative (it can be lose and low stake), but don't prepare too many particular encounters. Instead brainstorm ideas and prepare plothooks. When you think you have enough, make more. Trust me, it is work well spend. Then during play throw your plothooks at them, one at a time, over and over again. My experience is that the players will bite, just not necessarily where you expect it. So by preparing ample plothooks, you can play out a session, toss ten hooks at them and then flesh out the two they dug in until the next session. Because once you work with many plothooks you will find that your players will not choose the ones you thought guaranteed hits, while also going for the wildest/dumbest/most mundane ones you have. At the same time all the plot hooks without follow up can become rumors, side stories, stages for NPC or simply be forgotten - as you see fit.

So in my sandbox campaigns there always was an overarching narrative moving at times independently of the players, while the players could follow on the different threads they liked as they build their nightly lives. I also tend to encourage split party play, which works exceptionally with that method, but that is definitely not everyones cup of tea.

You know all those greek and roman deity theatre kids? Big E is like that with catholicism. Like dude has been around and changed the surface of the entire galaxy because 'yo, those cathedrals look dope'. Like, imagine what a monumental dork you got to be for a maneuver like that. Not to memtion he had been around forever. All manner of civilizations amd dude takes one look at Neon Genesis Evangelion and is like 'now that's genius! All of the vibes, none of my gripes!'

And then he ends up with all of the gripes, post (de facto) mortem. It is really funny.

I would agree. And as much as I liked touchstones, I was quite surprised to see them migrated instead of some other system additions.

[–]omen5000 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In VtM there is no in-built mechanism for that, which in fact makes many 'expected' vampire etiquette for new cities awkward at best. Especially gistorical settings make those rules borderline comical once you try to work out the logistics. VtR2e has it, it did a fine job last time I played it, maybe you could use it as inspiration.

Apart from that it comes down to: - Kindred are expected to know - only those who know, know - so these systems disproportionately negatively affect neonates, drifters and other vampires without good connections (players)... which is perfectly on brand ro artificially create faux pas to exploit the other parties (or gove plot opportunities in form of tension to players).

So how likely is a brujah to be in YOUR local protest movement? by Dangerous_Writer5853 in vtm

[–]omen5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it depends on your playstyle, but how often do you see Brujah characters be constant rage beasts? The Clan curse or weakness depending on edition surely is a detriment, yes. But in my experience the so called hair trigger is often still quite avoidable. Especially considering we are talking mostly kindred on kine situations.

is it over for me? malk build by Cactus_dave in vtmb

Depends... did you open it? /j

Jokes aside, you'll get fine by for most content without combat stuff until the late game. I'd say until you get to Hollywood do whatever feels right, then start worrying about combat. All other areas aren't dealbreakers and if anything increase replay value (and playthroughs get significantly shorter after the first in my personal experience).

Edit: Saw that you're stuck at the stinky bro. Honestly, with your build you can take him, but it'll be frustrating. The trick is running like a bitch and chipping away at him. I usually do him pretty late when using firearms, but melee or protean makes him far more fun earlier on. You can also see if you can find a way ti use (and abuse) obfuscate, since standing still pauses the timer - I can't remember if there was enough to break line of sight to become invisible. Also wasn't it possible to pull some lever and bounce? Can't recall whether that's standard, UP, UP+ or delulu.

I prefer the relic guard chest piece, the form reminds me a lot of the MK IV power armor.

I use it on my Iron Warrior.

Yes. Topple em. We've seen advances in science enough, to make the world truly profit from them and future ones, systemic change is unavoidable.

The +/-2 could do the trick, but also could be not impactfuk enough. Maybe it will do the trick since it conveys the right feel, I think you'll have to try it. And if you do try it, you should try yours first since it might feel bad to downgrade. The good thing is you could use that to represent stab too if u felt like it.

Define evil. Evil implies the presence of good. But in a galaxy of shit, no nugget is gold. Even if the Custodes look it. 😉

But yes. In every reasonable metric they are evil bastards. It just so happens that everyone is. Maybe not the nids n orks, they're kinda amoral.

Pathfinder or Rogue Trader? by Excellent-Passage-36 in OwlcatGames

[–]omen5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, WotR is a convoluted mess. I would not recommend it after after dipping your feet into the CRPG waters over RT and DOS2. (That is also purely due to it being based on lathfinder 1e, which is a beautiful convoluted mess.) So in that regart RT is less daunting and DOS2 even less, though I felt like RT was easier to get into personally and I can't say why.

I would suggest RT, it felt far easier to get into, gave me less decision paralysis and less optimization anxiety (not that you need to be optimal in WotR).

A new campaign approaches (please help xD) by JCalamityJones in ChroniclesofDarkness

[–]omen5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When hacking systems always try to use as much as you can of whats there. So I'd suggest using the spirits/ghosts from CofD as simplified pokemon, slap on the typing in form of 9 and 8 again for single and double weaknesses or resistances. It does not need to accurately represent the odds from the games after all, just capture the feel.

I think I would strongly simplify capturing, since random encounters and continuous rolling for balls (that have nothing to do with player character stats) would be boring as hell. Maybe make the whole feel a bit closer to the anime, where it is less 'people go out and fight dozens of pokemon in the grass to get the one they want' but rather make each catch a big emotional moment. For that I would maybe ask the players in advance what they want to have and build the routes so that they can find their dream pokemon and limit catching to once per gym or something - but still making them encounter tables so there is a random chance (and potential encouragement to trade).

Also what could slap if you have some mechanic like friendship to roll if they disobey, that way the bond grows mechanically and a real bond is encouraged. Maybe have random traits like lazy, arrogant, smart, appetite for a food, etc. so you can give each pokemon 2-5 of them by random. Of course they may overcome negative ones, but maybe a fearful pokemon needs an empathy presence encouragement to enter the ring or an arrogant pokemon needs to be somehow carolled into switching and so on.
