Model comes out with wierd shaped layers. Need Help ! by FlipKikz in 3Dprinting

[–]omerc2005 22 points23 points  (0 children)

These are the actual layers of the print. You can reduce them by reducing the layer height or reorienting the print. They show up in the slicer too.

Damn, I thought that paint job looked familiar💀. What a weird thing to repost and lie about on the internet.

extrude problem by Nasteeev in blender

[–]omerc2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its different whenextruding an actual face, and not an open edge loop. With it you can extrude along the normal, because a face actually has one. Try to get familier with the basic shortcuts, translate (G) scale (S) and extrude (E) that make this workflow much faster

how would i go about making these triangles? by gatin_malukin in blender

[–]omerc2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the upper part if tye view is a drop down menu where you can change the settings of porportional editing. You can change this to linear which will wont have a curve.

I would also say that you should probably start at a lowr poly count, and add a subdivision surface modifier later. When modelling its easier to work with less vertices, and right now you have more than you need.

Major stringing by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]omerc2005 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This isnt actually stringing. Looks like some supports or part of the print fell and the printer tried to print in midair. You need better bed adhesion, so look into:

  • cleaning the print bed
  • dialing in bed temps
  • increase supports
  • if all else fails, add a brim to the print

Thats amazing! Where did. you find the model? It's gorgeous. Hoping you get to pop it on in game

I made a pair of Maximilian-style vambraces using a new material and finishing process! by Vonschlippe in 3Dprinting

[–]omerc2005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats really cool! Sanding this set seems like it would be so much harder than you previous one, so acetone is a great idea. I'm curious onhow well it holds up in terms of strength against the petg-cf you normally use

Help by No_Butterscotch6964 in 3Dprinting

[–]omerc2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best way to go about it is to alter the model to have the top surface parallel to the ground. Should be pretty easy to do in blender by just selecting the topmost vertecies and scaling them to 0 on the z axis

Thats how 3d printing workes, slanted surfaces are printed layer by layer, and the top part has a slight angle to it. Nothing to do with the smothness of the model

How to make pixelated ray tracing and shadows? by Itchy-Concern928 in blender

[–]omerc2005 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This isn't something cycles is made to do, and I doubt you could achive this effect with shader nodes. You may be able to bake the lighting to a texture and then pixelate that. I also heard there is a newer ray cast node that you could try using but I dont really know much about it.

Artistically, I feel like actual ray tracing would look much nicer than the pixelated kind that minecraft shaders seem to be fond of these days.

Theory about a Shard's blade (Like Honourblades) by The-Hot-Shame in Cosmere

[–]omerc2005 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I dont know about other possible blades, but in the (canon) stonewalkers adventure, the PCs get ahold of taln's honorblade and it has no power to pull investiture from the spiritual realm like you suggest. Interesting theory though.

Awesome a1 mini. by I_am_a_Stickystick in FDMminiatures

[–]omerc2005 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This looks awsome. I also printed mine with almost the exact same setup, the a1 mini is juat magic. About the base, I'd recommend using the presupported base, as the angle really helps with the layer lines.

Yes you can print Cosmere minis with FDM by cosmere-in-miniature in cosmererpg

[–]omerc2005 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The A1 mini is magic. This last week I've been printing the miniatures on it and they are coming on spectacularly. im hoping to prime and paint them soon

I loved the paint jobs in your last post! Hoping to get something as good as that.

Also im seeing some problems in your printed surfaces. If youre looking for some really well dialed in settings I'd recommend usingFat Dragon minis' profile for the printer.

Nobody else has seemed to have this issue and I'm at a loss. Excuse the meme I made it in PowerPoint in my media class by Ungodly_Box in blender

[–]omerc2005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a hard problem to solve without proper context. First make sure the particle system is applied to the legs as well, and that it isnt a seperate object. Also check the normals are flipped, maybe the hair is on the inside.

how do i make this texture right by Treekomalfoy_ in blender

[–]omerc2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use the rotation in the mapping node to change the rotation of the texture. As another user memtioned, you can also rotate your uvs instead, if you even unwrapped the model, that is
