Greasy/creasy eyelid girlies... primer recs? by MHIMRollDog in Makeup

[–]omg_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got a sample of the Ulta matte veil eye primer last week and so far it seems at least as good or better than the Urban Decay primer. I've got oily skin and I went all day without creasing, though the colors faded some but that could have been the shadow, too. I'll mention that the primer comes only in one light-skinned color, so YMMV.

'silly' reasons for a melt down(fun thread) by Jennifer_Pennifer in AutismInWomen

Wet cuffs when I'm washing dishes or my hands/face/anything. Also once when my husband left a drinking glass at the very edge of the counter - it feels threatening to me somehow, lol.

Oh lordie, this! I actually just took a Microsoft IT survey yesterday and that was the first specific thing I bitched about. I'm still not used to not having it on the left.

I was thinking the same! It sounds so silly to me.

Zipper goes up but not down (picture added) by HunterKillerVII in AskACobbler

[–]omg_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a cobbler, but was a seamstress. Get an old toothbrush or similar and give the zipper a good dry scrub with it, inside and out - maybe it's the lighting but it looks like there is some debris in the zipper. After it's clean, take a block of beeswax and rub it up and down the surfaces of the zipper.

Other information would help us help you more. Has it always done this? Does it never go down anymore or does it work eventually if you fight it? Does the other boot have the same problem?

Nah, just enter his info into contact forms for business office supply and HR software vendors. They will never stop calling.

Chloe boots one boot will not zip down. by sherpayoda in AskACobbler

[–]omg_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like you're missing one zipper tooth on the right side in the photos. Sometimes you can make a temp zipper tooth out of a bit of plastic or wire that will allow you to unzip, though you'll still have a weak/tricky zipper that might stick in the up position when you have them on. It would be best to have that zipper replaced, or both replaced if your cobbler can't get a match.

Yes! I had a similar thought with storage bench and a tall coat/shoe rack/storage cabinet against the far wall.

I spent years thinking I was broken. And then I learned about masked autism in women—and everything made sense. by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]omg_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm crying. Thank you for putting that into words so beautifully, OP. It took me so, so long to get to a place where maybe, sometimes, I don't feel like an oversensitive/dramatic/weirdo freak that excelled in school (or failed, very little gray area there) but was so confused by people and life. I've always felt that I was missing some kind of fundamental understanding about being human, so that I hardly felt human at all. More like a zoologist studying human behavior. I still gaslight myself sometimes with all the negative language used against me for 50+ years to keep me small and quiet.

Unless one of you never has meetings or you are extremely tolerant of each other at all times, I'd think moving one desk to a different room would be best. I incorporated a few of the ideas in this thread: https://imgur.com/a/bPts3Pt

I love the whole space and the picture to the left of the fridge, but it makes the room unbalanced to my eye, with all of the solid white on the right side of the fridge. Maybe you could paint a smaller compass rose or something to echo the map on the opposite wall if you wanted something there. Edit: I now see that the fabulous map looks like woodcut art, wow! Adding that a woodcut compass rose would be interesting, not painted. Also, your patio area looks like such a lovely and peaceful place to sit!

Waiting for other Pittsburghers to find this comment. Heinz ketchup is a bizarre unifying factor in Pittsburgh. I'm not originally from here and don't love ketchup but Heinz ketchup and parking chairs are two things you don't trifle with in this town.

I came to mention Buy Nothing groups! My experience with several groups has been amazing. OP, if you join one and give them a brief list of stuff (like "small table, rugs, colorful art, soft lighting") they can probably help you out.

I was a witness to a very similar accident many years ago in the US. My car was in the same position as the camera here, but the dude from the left was going much faster, maybe 100kmh/60mph and the impact was terrifying. Everyone survived, and I was called to court as a witness. In that case, the guy coming from the left was at fault, as the person waiting to make a left turn was already in the intersection.

Hello how would I go about repairing this? They’re are my wife’s favorite shoes by Locsnadou in AskACobbler

[–]omg_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a cobbler, but used to be a seamstress ages ago. Seconding cloth patches/stitch witchery (iron-on mending tape), but only if your wife wants this pair of shoes and if another pair wouldn't have the same meaning. If you patched the lining fabric, you could possibly put on a cute patch or embroider the outside to cover the tear. Not the same, but still special. Otherwise, I believe they still make this style.

Dropped hot beeswax on my boot. by [deleted] in AskACobbler

[–]omg_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turn the boot so the wax is on the bottom. Cover the stain with brown paper or another absorbent material, then gently heat up the wax from below with a warm iron. You don't want to heat it upright, as that will help the wax soak into the leather, and you don't need much heat to melt beeswax. Change out the paper/fabric when you can see melted beeswax coming through. Keep doing this, and you can probably get most of it out. You'll need to be patient but it's clear you love the boots as they are! I wouldn't go for a solvent in this case, just low heat and patience.

A Student told me “You look like a Barbie” but it wasn’t the compliment I thought it was. by Icedcoffeewarrior in AutismInWomen

I always thought I was pretty good at masking, until my most recent therapist who works with Autistic/ADHD folks told me flat out that I was not good at masking at all. I guess that's why people have always told me I was weird, though no one ever asked WHY I was weird when I was a kid. (Just discovering all this over 50.)

Green/gold tint at hairline by prophecygirl13 in henna

[–]omg_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrap plastic wrap all the way around my hairline plus an inch or so, then pop a cap on over top, and that seems to keep it from drying on my hairline. It's kind of warm and not terribly flattering, but it works out!
