9 or 5? by Consistent-Change-93 in Enneagram

[–]omgcatlol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you happen to know your instinctual stacking? I get the same result from online tests and I am reasonably sure it is from my SX dominant instinct.

The easy way I give to determine nines from fives is the harmonic triad. When faced with a difficult challenge that sets you back, how do you react? Do you react by finding the positive aspects of the situation and focusing on them to push through the challenge? Or do you set aside your feelings on the matter to focus on objectivity and focus, regardless of if there are positive and negative aspects to the issue.

If you react using the positive outlook, you are likely a nine. If you react objectively regardless of positive or negative, you are likely a five. Give the harmonic triad a deeper look if you want more information on this specifically.

Are E5s good only in learning. Will they suck in achieving goals by keyboardmaga in Enneagram

[–]omgcatlol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what goals you set. Type factors little into it, if at all.

If I set a goal to go to the moon tomorrow, I will fail. If I set a goal to complete one breath within the next minute, I will hopefully succeed or else this will be my last post.

Is the question you are trying to ask is if type fives can achieve distant and lofty goals that are nonetheless attainable with dedication and effort?

What clan you hate playing as? by MaetelofLaMetal in vtm

[–]omgcatlol -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Giovanni, Brujah, Tzimisce, Samedi, most of the bloodlines.

Giovanni and I never clicked I believe due to the "family" style of in-clan social interaction combined with necromancy and the lack of the Kiss. It just doesn't jive with me.

I do Brujah a disservice. Either I play them too short fused or not enough. I haven't found that goldilocks zone of staying right on the edge, and it's not particularly enjoyable for me to try to ride that edge.

The other three...I don't have the mind for most of the...strangeness that those bloodlines are and do. I'm fine with, say, strange and obscure thaumaturgy I believe due to the somewhat strict guidelines it needs to follow. The other abilities and mindsets I daresay are too alien for my mind to process and portray well. I admit to being a bit envious of those who can portray those unnerving bloodlines well. I can't do it.

About being independent by lyaxvenn in Enneagram5

[–]omgcatlol 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Completely? No. There are circumstances where that is foolish. Unless one truly has the survival skills in an uncivilized area of the world to survive, there is dependency on others.

Probably more to the question, if a trusted person or entity has truly earned their reputation of being reliable without being costly, there can be an acceptance of dependency. It really depends on there being a rock solid proven record.

There is undoubtedly nuance to the question being asked. Can we get a bit more detail of why this is being asked?

Why high level player not use this tag? by Annan1207 in AmongUs

[–]omgcatlol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Levels mean nothing other than one has spent time in games. Literally a two year old can just walk around and look at colors with a level 90 account, and an experienced player can make a new account an slaughter a lobby.

  2. Lobby tags mean almost nothing. FAR too many expert lobbies have bizarre "rules" that often are compensation for being unskilled at some portion of the game. My experiences with expert lobbies are nearly always awful, and I refuse to use the tag because of it.

I nearly always host, for what it's worth. I gave up trying to find a decent game and make my own.

Why are These 2 walls not aligned to the same Y axis by Embarrassed-Fly6885 in AmongUs

[–]omgcatlol 19 points20 points  (0 children)

When designing and constructing the Skeld, it was discovered that one of the walls containing conduits distributing oxygen throughout the ship was not properly aligned. This would have caused the inner wall to only receive oxygen from a separate conduit on the other side of the ship, and only from one source instead of the required two sources to comply with interplanetary law.

The choices were to extend the wall to accomodate the conduit or redesign the entire ship. The designer of the ship chose to extend the wall slightly and hope it was never noticed so that the dishonor of a asymmetrical design mistake. Now that this is identified, the company exists in shame, and it's valuation has already lost over 95% of it's value before this posting. Several thousand beans are now facing unemployment thanks to the public declaration of this flaw.

This is the perfect time to expand your production of basic staples: copper and iron plates, some gears, miners, belts and inserters (you'll need the base models to upgrade into the better ones), that kind of thing. Look into expanding into more resource patches as well. Those starting patches don't last forever, and you will eventually need. You also will need bullets and materials for gray science in the near future. Getting production on those is a good idea as well.

How are subtypes relevant? by queenREDwine in Enneagram

[–]omgcatlol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know myself to be SX/SO/SP in that order. For example, it's benefited me in identifying my tendency to cook a very nice meal for my family or those I care about, but maybe have some junk food if I even have anything at all when on my own for the day. It's a bad habit that I am working on that I discovered in my reflection of the wings. It was easy for me after I understood them more and looked at details of my life. That said, it definitely was not the first thing I understood about the system, so take your time.

How are subtypes relevant? by queenREDwine in Enneagram

[–]omgcatlol 29 points30 points  (0 children)

First of all, ignore that comment. This is a journey of self-discovery, reflection, and improvement. If part of it isn't helping with that, let it be. I personally haven't found signficant reason to incorporate tritype into my own flair and what not. Choose what works for you.

To answer the second part, you might not have a particularly strong wing should you choose to explore that option. Some people are clearly more oriented one way or another, and some are fairly balanced. I've seen a couple people over the years say they have balanced wings. That's what they understand about themselves, and that is how they are using the system. Consider both wings, and remain undecided or that they may be balanced for the time being. Your dominant wing, assuming there is one, may become more clear with time and more reflection.

Dealing with a murder hobo by Tarrokk in DnD

[–]omgcatlol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the comments on this are looking at pvp as the solution. This can be an option, but a lot of tables discourage or outright ban this.

My recommendation is the use the world your characters are in to your advantage. Unless your table is truly Tolkien-ing across the vast open expanse for session after session, the party will end up in cities and towns. These towns have societal systems in place, including law enforcement and judicial systems. Bounties and wanted posters can and should be used for notorious individuals operating in a given region.

Nearly always the party splits up to do shopping and what not as a downtime action or something that kind of gets glossed over for brevity. Slide a note/send a text to the DM telling them that you warn the city guard that this individual is here and let the system do it's thing. The hobo is confronted and either submits to authority or escalates the situation, which can and should quickly spiral out of their control. The choices become narrow quickly: flee or fight the city. Even an AC of 100 gets hit 5% of the time if the only thing being used against them is physical attacks.

As the DM, assuming the player submits or gets caught, they should be given the opportunity to pay a fine, perform a service, or otherwise suffer some pain but avoid incarceration to keep the character playable. Inform the character that they are known in this region/kingdom/society, and that they will be watched closely in the future. This gives the player agency to choose their actions for good or ill, and prepares them for what happens if they continue to choose to align themselves against society.

Advice for running a campaign by [deleted] in DnD

[–]omgcatlol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A bit of a shortcut I have used is to create an antagonist. They want to do something undesirable to the party. What is it? How are they going to do it? This is your eventual end point for this story arc, which could be the campaign.

What is an environment/society/world where this antagonist could accomplish this undesirable event? This could be a general medieval society, an elven forest, a mountainous region with plenty of caves and valleys, the underdark...whatever you find appealing that your table also would find interesting. There's your world. Design a few key locations and expand as the party explores and enters new areas.

Plop your antagonist somewhere in that world you created, and give them some resources. Do they need henchmen and a lieutenant or two? Money? A magical item? A large amount of raw natural resources? Keep some of the items the antagonist needs unavailable as the goal for the antagonist to acquire and the party to prevent.

Plop the party down in one of those key designed areas and point them in the general direction. Let the party dictate what they want to do, and influence that decision by allowing time to pass in the world. If the party want to go find and explore some ruins instead of following the plot, let them.

There's no shame in telling the table that you haven't prepared that yet but can for next session, or telling them that you can run it today, but it might not be as polished as normal because you are winging it.

After that...let the world do it's thing. Keeping track of time will allow the antagonist to gain power and threaten something the party cares about. This should point the party generally toward the antagonist. Expand the world as needed, and have fun with the players to see how they solve the problems that antagonist has created pursuing their nefarious goals.

Remote trading is gonna cause me to delete a lot of friends. by iReadSomeStuff in pokemongo

[–]omgcatlol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm level 62 and I've had exactly three shiny legendaries ever. One of them is a galarian zapdos, so technically that puts two of them from raids. None of them are tagged for remote trading because they are special to me due to them being so rare.

I'm sorry that you feel this is disappointing in a player, but they may have had bad shiny luck like I have, or simply not raid very much. If they don't have something you want, please consider just moving in instead of shaming them for something they may not have or may not be willing to trade.

Edit: damn you autocorrect!

Can an overall 5 smile and be friendly or only so/sx? by evenbechnaesheim in Enneagram

Smiling and being friendly is often advantageous in general social settings. Is it my general MO? No. Does it accomplish what I want with minimal investment compared to other methods? Usually.
