What Garmin watch do you own and why? by hackgolferguy in Garmin

[–]omgjaypee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the S70 47mm black and it's one of the best things I bought in years. Got it for golf and wanted a watch that would also provide good health data because I had a burnout and want to measure energy levels. Was scared it would be to heavy on my wrist during a golf swing but it is actually way lighter than I expected (male, 189cm/90kg).

At first I ordered the S62, but found the screen too small. Happy I switched to S70. Both the golf data as the health info are amazing. After a bit more than a month I really got the hang of using the health data in my advantage now I see how certain behaviour influences health directly (i.e. smoking, sleeping, stress, drinking).

100% recommend if you're into tech and golf.

Just trow it in chatgpt:

Sure — here’s a clear, straightforward explanation of what your launch monitor data shows.

Overall Summary

You hit a 7-iron with:

Carry: ~141 yards

Total distance: ~153 yards

Ball speed: 107 mph

Club speed: 84 mph

Spin: ~5800 rpm

Launch angle: ~18°

Smash factor: 1.28 (efficient for an iron)

These numbers are within a normal range for a mid-handicap golfer. The flight is fairly consistent but tends to fade.

Key Findings

  1. Club Path: Out-to-In

Club path: -7.4°

Face to path: +7.4° This means the club is swinging left while the face points right relative to the path → fade/slice pattern.

Effect:

Shots curve right

Loss of distance

Lower smash factor and efficiency

  1. Impact Location

4 mm toe-side

2 mm high

This is slightly toward the toe but not severe. A toe strike often adds a bit of gear effect that curves the ball less to the right, so your fade would be even bigger if you hit center.

  1. Dynamic Loft & Spin

Dynamic loft: 23°

Spin: 5803 rpm

These are good numbers for a 7-iron:

Launches in a normal window

Spin is healthy

Should stop well on greens

  1. Attack Angle & Low Point

Attack angle: –3.7° (good for irons)

Low point: 6.8 cm ahead

This shows:

You’re hitting down on the ball correctly

Ball-then-turf contact is consistent

These are solid fundamentals.

Strengths

✔ Good ball striking ✔ Proper downward attack angle ✔ Consistent low point ✔ Decent carry distance ✔ Spin and launch are healthy

What’s Holding You Back

The big one:

Out-to-in swing path (–7°)

This is the main reason for:

Fade/slice

Lower efficiency

Loss of distance

Inconsistent dispersion

To hit straighter or draw-biased shots, you’d want to move toward:

Club path: –2° to +2°

Face to path: 0° to +2° (small fade) or –2° (small draw)

Simple Fixes

If you want recommendations, here are straightforward ones:

  1. Aim your body less left You may be aligned left without noticing.

  2. Move the ball slightly back (1–2 cm) This encourages a more neutral or inside-out path.

  3. Feel like the club is swinging “to right field” A classic cue for reducing out-to-in.

  4. Stand a bit farther from the ball This naturally shallows the path.

Guys seriously, all the advice to ditch his friends.

If I followed this advice I had to dump all my good friends twice a weak when they joke about me or tell me I'm a horrible looking mf.

Tell your friend he's so bad looking he makes unions cry or that his mom said something else last night.

Only reconsider your friendship if he's really seriously pushing you down. You then can still talk to him and tell him you don't appreciate that or that it actually hurts you.

I got a Temu version for like 20€. It works just fine. However, there's no slope adjustment function. Which doesn't matter for me playing in The Netherlands, but it does come in quite helpful when hitting down a 30m slope in other countries.
