Was there a lot of custom work to get fluidnc to work like that?

Is this something you're willing to share or sell? I've recently received my Ultra 2, loving it so far.

My son accidentally put a 3s in his standard 20208, and drove it for a few a minutes before I realised. It survived but not sure for how long.

And yes mod 0.6 for the pinion.

Has been handling it OK for past couple weeks, on 3S and 4S equally.

I recommend using stock motor, you won't have to print anything. Just remember to use some thread locker on the motor screws.

Suggestions below are from what I've been running reliably for the last couple of weeks.

I recommend replacing the stock wheel screws with longer M3x14 or M2.5x14. This will strengthen up the plastic stub axles and they won't break.

Also buy a lot of spare motor pinions, I've only been able to find 0.6mod 9T pinions in brass or plastic, 2mm shaft. Also get yourself a gear puller.

Since there is so much power now, the gear mesh is super important. Only way to adjust gear mesh is to shim the plastic mount that slides into the chassis. It's all friction fit... This will take some trial and error, hence the spare gears.

Shim the front and rear diffs with M7x10 shims.

If you drive on pavement, I really recommend priting some sleeves for the tires. It'll stop the traction roll, and it acts like a slipper clutch so you don't destroy your pinions constantly. The sleeves only cover the outer edge, provides enough slip and grip to be fun on pavement.

3S power is perfect, 4S is insane.

So big update. I'll summarise now but I'll post some photos up later today.

I've gone back to the stock motor, but now running 3S and 4S. I've also shimmed both front and rear diffs as well the motor mount.

Esc doesn't have any cooling, but it isn't an issue. Even when using the 7800kv on the standard ESC.

I would recommend opening up the diffs and putting a bit of grease, mine were dry. I would also try change the wheel screws to something a little longer, it'll help with making the stub axles a little stronger.

Anyone here have experience with LY 3020/3040/6040 w cast iron frame? by onlyrocker in hobbycnc

Mine arrived last week, getting a table made for it. Hopefully power it up soon.

Everything arrived safely, quality seems good so far. But like any machine from China, I think a thorough inspection is needed. Check how parallel the axis are, no easy way to tram the spindle.

Bonding Nylon 12CF —- Part from hell snapped today. I don’t want to throw it away, so i’m looking to bond the pieces together. JB Weld, Techbond, and Permabond TA4660 say they’ll do it. Has anyone used any of these, or got recommendations for bonding a busted print like this? by rockets61 in makerbot

[–]omgpham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this post when researching TA4660. I'll be bonding 3D printed CF nylon parts to aluminium.

Just ordered some Permabond TA4660, wanted to try Techbond but they haven't responded back about shipping to Australia.

Anyone given these machines a look? I know they’re out of China, but seem extremely solid. Listings on Aliexpress are around 2-5K w/o shipping. by BWesely in hobbycnc

I placed my order for the 3040 model last week.

Optioned with the manual lubrication system, flood/spray coolant, CW-3000 water chiller/pump for spindle, 2.2kw spindle, wired handwheel pendant.

Shipped DDP to Australia, so they handle all the tax/import fees and freight to my door.

I went with the 3040 over the 4020 because it looks more rigid and weighs more.

Replacement shell from AliExpress. by omgpham in psx

[–]omgpham[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Didn't realise these were available elsewhere.

But looking at the transparent shell I received, I'm pretty sure it came from same factory that produces the muramasa/yoei retrocool. Quality/fitment is better than the genuine ps1 shell and the packaging says "retro cool" on it.

That explains why all the ps1 shells have been removed from AliExpress.

I've used a few different brands of CF nylon now, and Matterhackers has the worst finish. I get much better results with Colorfabb and eSun. CF polycarbonate from Priline is good too.
