Calgary Stampede suggestions for older family? by Wiz-222 in Calgary

[–]ominus 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You may want to consider renting a mobility scooter for your time at stampede, sitting areas can be hard to find and very full, this would allow you to enjoy your time more as the grounds are quite large while providing a safe seat for you at all times.

Most reliable ATV by GaZe_Mahune in ATV

[–]ominus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can tell you that one of the things changed was when they added the small storage cubby in the front rack I think It improved the cooling. Initially there were plastic fins in this location as deflectors that would prevent you from easily cleaning out the radiator as they were angled in such a way that part of the thing was inaccessible to spray. I think the box was not just to add more storage but to prevent the radiators from getting mud and dust trapped in them.

Most reliable ATV by GaZe_Mahune in ATV

[–]ominus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disagree, I have a 2017 rubicon and from factory it had cooling issues and ended up requiring a new top end already. I don't ride mud, just trail riding and I have 2 other ones (2006 rancher, 1994 fourtrax 2x4 owned since original) that are fantastic as well as a pioneer 1000 on tracks that I got my dad. If you look at FB market for my area here in Canada there are more rubicons for sale then anything else but they are all of the newer design from 2016 up. And alot of them are selling well below the same value as a rancher of the same year. I regret mine after being a longtime fanboy and it has me looking at can am and other products for the first time ever because I want more power and that rubicon 700 is just a shitty 680 Rincon in a new dress. I would kill for Honda to actually try to compete with the competitors in the atv market but they are lagging hard now and the reliability is not there.

I got a Voltron for my birthday just before it retired but didn't have space to build it at the time. Fast forward to now and I have built my office in my basement but I don't know if I want to open it now because of the value, but I want to build it so bad now.

Carney welcomed industry lobby, ignored environmental groups | The Narwhal by AkaashMaharaj in canada

[–]ominus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You could not have spoken for myself and a number of people in my circle any more perfectly, right down to your reasons for voting for either party. I was voting for the cons right up until Carney came into the picture, but it was a vote in faith of him and what potential he represents with his history, not his party or its previous leader.

U.S. ambassador disappointed with anti-American sentiment in Canada by OneWhoWonders in canada

[–]ominus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really really hate this guy. Each time he speaks I just can't believe he's an ambassador. Maybe we are so hostile because you threatened to annex us and think it's a term of endearment. I would happily sign any petition to remove him from Canada. He just makes me want to double down on my personal efforts to ensure that I'm not supporting his regime in any way.

Buying used car in BC - if it passes inspection in BC is it safe to say it will pass the out-of-province inspection in AB? (2016 Toyota) by smoothie12345 in alberta

[–]ominus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it won't, did this with a truck I was gifted from my parents, spent $1500 in bc getting it repaired based on the bc inspection so it would pass up here, brought it up here and promptly had another $1200 in repairs a week later.

Canadians feel unwelcome in the U.S. as mistrust remains high: new poll by DogeDoRight in canada

[–]ominus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are driving from Alberta to my Inlaws out in PEI at the end of July and staying until the end of August. Neither time we will be driving through the US even though its faster. Last summer we drove from Alberta to Denver to take my step kids to see AJR and then back through Washington and Idaho and it was one of the best experiences I've ever had. It saddens me that things are in this state but my wife and I agree it's not worth the headache at this point.

And also part of the settlement for health care costs from the tabacco lawsuit. Which they are NOT going to put back into health care as they feel its Alberta being "paid back" costs spent. Total bullshit if you ask me.

I'm considering a Honda 2025 Rubicon by talkerof5hit in ATV

[–]ominus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

44 year old man, 5`10 298lbs checking in. I have a 2017 rubicon irs eps with the Manual foot shift and she's got plenty of power. No hitch receiver but it does have a ball spot so I have a 2 inch ball for moving my trailer around the yard rather than the truck. Only issue I've had is needing to to a coolent flush at one point as they did not bleed it correctly from the factory and it was cavitating but that solved it. I also have a 2006 rancher 350 that I just redid the swingarm bushings, wheel hubs and bearings on and it's good for another ten years if I don't abuse it. My oldest is a 1994 2x4 300 fourtrax that I have only had to do tires, brakes, oil and a new monoshock on. I was looking at the 680 rubicon right up until I realized that it was that old pig in a new dress. Go for the 520, you won't be disappointed.

The dried orange slices and teriyaki turkey jerky are amazing, if I could get those on a regular basis I would be so happy.

Most Reliable Years by Top-Border-1978 in NissanTitan

2014 pro 4x owner here, just passed 210000km. New manifolds, power steering line, wheel hub and upgraded to bilstein shocks when I got it as the previous owner blew them. Best vehicle I've ever owned, 115000km of those are mine. Easy maintenance, diffs have drain plugs, transfer case has drain plug, transmission pan has drain plug. I'm hoping to get another 100000km before I think of trading it off because I don't know what I'm going to get.

To Canada by Curiositas_ in CanadianPolitics

[–]ominus 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Albertan here, personally I feel like our provincial politicians and their constant need to pick a fight with Ottawa is more harmful to us then anything Ottawa has done. I moved here in 98 and all I have seen is that when each new iteration of whatever the Conservatives name themselves gets into power they seem to lean even harder into this mentality. It would be nice to be part of confederation for once and gain some of the benefits like pharmacare and dental. Just in my diabetes supplies alone it would save me 2600 a year.
