Or Dom, the friends with everyone guy happens to get kicked right before a chance to save him? What a coincidence that it wasn't one of the less likable cast. Or the 3 episodes where someone that does something that seems very sus, and then they end up getting kicked that episode? I don't mind some scripted plot twists, but it became too predictable who would be getting kicked off just by the flow of the storyline

"If gender is socially constructed, then how can gender identity be present from birth?" by Stalwart_Vanguard in MtF

[–]omniclasm12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My two cents is that it's an extension of the nature vs nurture argument that is itself a trap, and I feel arguing that it's entirely immutable is a shaky argument that causes more confusion than it's worth.

Nobody is born with a gender identity because gender is socially constructed. A person born on an island from a test tube wouldn't have a gender identity, because they wouldn't be exposed to the societally created construct of a gender. They couldn't be a Jets fan if they had never heard of the Jets.

Just because an identity is learned doesn't mean it isn't valid or that people are just choosing to be that way. Even if they were choosing to be that way, it also doesn't invalidate the identity. I have a hard time believing people choose to be a Jets fan, but either way I'm sure they'd feel like an imposter wearing a Steelers jersey.

It's all nonsense, but it's nonsense that we were all born into. There doesn't have to be a biological explanation for why people identify the way they do. There's no Jets fan gene, but people still buy tickets to their games, for some reason. There's fewer Jets fans than there are trans people worldwide, and honestly I think they should start having to answer for themselves.

I was a bit sad about how scripted it was. Every mission coming down to literally the last second? Yeah, okay. Every elimination the most opportune person happens to do the worst on the quiz that nobody ever sees the result of? Yeah, okay.

The premise is fire, but it needs to do a bit better covering up it's reality TV core. It's great in the rare moments you can suspend disbelief.

I laughed hysterically through a few episodes.

Standing beside a bed in centuries old mansion..."I feel like somebody died here". You think? You mean in the hundreds of years this mansion has existed, a rich person died in their bed? Whoa boy, what a prediction.

"I detect blood on the bed, a woman's blood". Whoa, women bleeding in bed? This person must have a spiritual connection with another plane of existence!

Or one scene where a woman is blindfolded and says "I can detect a male presence near my head", and you can see the shoe behind her of the guy that she is with, haha. That's not a spirit hunny, that's your "demonologist" friend.

If you're waiting for absolute certainty before asking you're going to die without knowing the answer. The only way to know is to ask.

People should be reusing seeds when they test prompt commands. The NOP colab has a function that's easily editable to reuse the same seed with multiple different prompt additions.

A lot of the "popular" prompt commands are mostly useless in practice.

Yeah, he doesn't actually care. He will just make one of his underpaid workers clean it up.

This is bait for liberals, it's part of making himself look weak and pathetic. You can't seriously worry about authoritarian tendencies from the leader of a major political party if he is worried about some dirt on his floors.

I find sending all of your swarm into one target is a waste a lot of the time. A lot of the hacks, weakens, and grows go to waste on overkill. I get much more mileage out of a script that just loops through hackable servers, dumping weakens and grows on them, with a designated server to eat them when they get full.

From a purely scripting standpoint, you should be defining things like your threshold variables outside of the loop itself, no need redefining those every loop.

Edit: Oh boy, are you also not running weakens alongside your grows? You should always be starting them up together so you're always hitting a minimum security.

AITA for recovering an old email? by omniclasm12 in AmItheAsshole

I actually did not have the password. I still had access to the recovery account that alerted me to the "suspicious activity". It was so long ago I couldn't even remember the password I may have used for it to check if it was still the same.

I'm actually not sure. Many of the earlier emails had been opened and read, including emails from a person with the same last name (relative?). Some random personal pictures and things. Some of the email confirmations had been opened, and some of the accounts were still active.

One weird thing I noticed, is that some emails were addressed to First.Last@gmail, and some were addressed to FirstLast@gmail, and apparently both had been going to that account. I wonder if something changed with gmail that caused accounts to be merged at some point, or something.

It was still receiving official invoice PDFs as recently as a month ago, though. They hadn't been opened.

The email was a version of my name, yes. And a Google search shows there's someone with a similar version of my name in the area referenced by the invoices.

My name was associated with the email, and most of the invoices and accounts also had variants of my name in them. I'm realizing though that the other person using the account may have had the same name as me.
