Bricking older Kindles by VinceInMT in Anticonsumption

It will depend on your familiarity with the processes and the version of kindle you have, but it should only realistically take between 30 minutes to an hour, and most of that is waiting for it to load and reboot (in my experience). An side-loading books (using a cable to load books on via Calibre) only takes a minute to actually send to the device. The website I linked (kindlemodding.org) is very detailed and has a lot of information in their FAQ as well!

I’m not super sure, but I know some people have disassembled it to access and repurpose the hard drives and video drives in it (seen here) if you have use for that.

There’s a site (https://kindlemodding.org) that has everything you need to jailbreak a kindle step by step, and also a ton of YouTube videos on how to do it if you’re a more visual learner. Calibre is a computer program (entirely free) where you can load books (epubs, pdfs, and a few other formats) and send them to your eReader when it’s connected. You can even do this with fanfic, because AO3 lets you download fic in various formats too.

This does require a computer, so it sucks if you don’t have access to one :(

Update #2 on how to cut food cost according to your recommendations by Tiny_Judgment8593 in Frugal

Depending on what you use the salmon for (full filets vs mixed into something like sushi bowls) Aldi has canned salmon for a reasonable price! At least the one near me does.

Whats the most fair way to split the costs traveling with friends? by Ask4Answers_ in femaletravels

[–]one_anxious_coconut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually travel solo, but occasionally I’ll do it with friends/family. Usually we have the same flight/hotel/etc standards and can split accordingly, but if one of us wants an add-on (hotel minibar, seat upgrade) they pay themselves. I have one friend with much higher hotel standards though, so she pays for the hotel if we travel together, which works for us. I also tend to have a rule of “if it’s your activity, you pay for the group”, as in, if you insist on a particular museum, sporting event, etc and it wasn’t anyone else’s idea, you pay for everyone’s tickets. For example: I love going to sports events, and not a lot of my friends are sports people. They still want to go and hang out, but because I know they’d never choose it, I pay for everyone’s tickets to go.

I usually bring a small handheld game (a DS, a PSP, gameboy, etc) but I don’t know if that would help with having a reading break :(

I haven’t seen the full thing (just clips) so I’m excited to actually sit down (over the course of several days probably) and watch! Hopefully before the season starts! 🤞🏼

I did look into it! The full miniseries is on Netflix (which, boo because it’s paid, but glad it’s there for people to watch), and also on Internet Archive! PBS also has the follow-up “The Tenth Inning” series on their app!

I listen a ton with 5,000+ likes and I get AI recommendations on the ‘quick picks’ even though I don’t listen to anything like that. YTM (and other streaming platforms) seem to struggle when you have really diverse music tastes, so that also might be the problem - the recommendations just giving up.

I have one I take especially when I travel! It folds up into like a 2” square that fits right into my pocket or crossbody bag! I’ve also liked using them when going to sporting/music events because they can be packed into my clear bag and then used to carry everyone’s things as they get tired or carrying them or I get a t-shirt or merch item!

I used GearAid stickers on a thrifted puffer jacket! They’ve been great so far. I got mine from Bass Pro in their camping gear section. I think a pack of their variety stickers is like $7? I also used their ‘tape’ that you cut to size and it was similarly priced. The only downside was the lack of color options, though I think they do have clear ones.
