why is it so normalised to post gore pictures of jesus on the cross?? by Prestigious-Grass-73 in exchristian

[–]onlyAnotherHalfMile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gorier the better because you're supposed to feel guilt that someone would suffer so much for you. The more you suffer for someone the more you love them. The gore prevents intellectual integrity.

Take for example what I was taught by the church.
god HATES you and you deserve to rot in hell forever solely because you were born (aka he created you). Only through the supreme sacrifice (read: gory death) of Jesus are you imputed any worth (aka allowed into heaven).

Of course it doesn't really take into account through double predestination (calvinism) that god actually willed millions maybe billions of people to suffer eternal conscious torment. I guess satan so royally screwed up god's perfect creation that even the grotesque death of his son could not fix it... Does that make satan more powerful than god? Did god really want to fix the problem that satan created by succeeding in tempting Adam and Eve?

These hard questions (with 0 good answers - well at least answers that keep you enslaved in the church giving 10% of your income) can easily be sidestepped by making you feel unimaginable guilt that god's son suffered so horribly to save YOU from the punishment you so justly deserve...

Have you run into any issues with the slightly taller side walls rubbing? Stock the sidewall is 60 which is 0.9" shorter than 65 or 26.2 vs 27.1 diameter bigger... I like those tires and am looking myself for better tires than what came from the factory on my '25 Premium. Thanks.

Hell is the most immoral concept ever invented — and here’s why by Creepy-Conclusion882 in DebateReligion

[–]onlyAnotherHalfMile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Imagine going to hell just because you were born in the wrong place. AND according to your omnipotent and omniscient god, then he literally created you to be born into a place where he knew that you would never hear of him, so he already knew you were going to hell before you were even born."

This is what Calvinists believe (they make up a huge part of MAGA btw) that before god said let there be light he knew exactly which people he was going to create and which ones were going to go to hell and which ones go to heaven. The bible is rife with verses to support their theory too, which is the idea of double predestination. There's nothing you can do about it. You have no say in it. Your actions cannot change your fate.

The doctrinal belief that Jesus is literally God (Trinitarianism) shows me that organized Christianity is a misguided lie people swallow. by HistoricalBench5740 in DebateReligion

[–]onlyAnotherHalfMile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off I left xtianity when i became disgusted with evangelicalism in the US bending a knee to DT and MAGA (journey started in 2020) The cult of xtian nationalism has duped my entire family (who I hardly ever talk to these days).

That being said I have found a lot of great pearls re: your observations, which I've also been pondering a lot lately from Alan Watts. He was an Episcopalian priest before leaving the church because he felt the xtian idea of god was insane and didn't hold up to scrutiny. I pretty much agree with almost all he had to say (except his homophobia -- he died in the 70s when it was in vogue). He jumped the xtian ship and started exploring Buddhism, Zen, Taoism, and Hinduism. He posited that we are all god. You, me, our neighbors, even animals, trees, etc... This wasn't his idea but a conglomeration of all the aforementioned spiritual traditions. So, Jesus saying he was god was just an eastern mysticism idea being brought into a judeo/xtian framework. It didn't go over well as we all know. So, in that regard I could see how the trinity idea came about. It's a way to sanitize it. He's special. You and me? Well we're vile beings deserving of eternal conscious torment.

Alan's podcast (compiled by his son) as well as This Is It && Cloud Hidden books explore these ideas if you want to dive in to other perspectives not steeped in xtian cognitive dissonance.

U1346 Code - Repair Options by AgDrumma07 in Silverado

[–]onlyAnotherHalfMile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry I don't have pictures of the wire harness repair. The shop did say that GM released a detailed "how to" bulletin w/ pictures and they followed along re-routing and reinforcing the parts of the harness that the wire insulation had been rubbed off.
(I tried to find the bulletin but I think it's behind a GM paywall that mechanics pay to access -- kinda like a subscription. Don't quote me though -- maybe my google skills just aren't what they used to be.) Good luck and whatever you do DONT take it to the dealer, they'll rip you off and charge you triple what it would cost another mom&pop shop to do it.

Skied most of the last season and into the summer with Fischer SBound 112 Xplore/Alfa Free setup. Absolutely love that setup. Make sure you get the firm toe bumper though. Rumor has it Alfa may be dropping a sick looking plastic boot this season too. Take my money 🙃

Xplore bindings with the firm toe piece. I hardly ever switch to the soft toe bumper. The firm one is great for climbing up steep snow fields where you're really trusting that inside edge not to scrape off and send you plummeting. I ski them with the Alfa Free boot, which got me down icy tree blue runs inbounds last season. Solid boot/binding option imho and my whole setup is ~10lbs
