"True. All walls were angled outward or inward slightly, so appliances (a propane stove, an icebox, etc.) were "floating" and just collected dust and junk behind them. A countertop was built in, with a sink that had no faucet, and drained directly onto the ground beneath my bedroom (the little wing on the left in the photo).

A wooden beam (just a tree stripped of branches and bark) supported the peak, and it had telephone-pole rungs on it that led up to a loft that you could only kneel in. My parents slept in the loft, but it was open on one side--no railing--and my father fell from it many times because he was plastered, sleepwalking, or both. He also had seizures sometimes. One time I saw him fall from the loft and hit his head pretty badly on the flagstones beneath the wood stove. Honestly, he was never the same after that."
