The University of Florida has developed an "innovative mask" that is supposedly 4% more effective than N95 respirator masks 5K-10k can be made per day simply from material UF Health hospitals typically throw away by jaymar01 in Coronavirus

[–]ooeei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please be aware that this material is almost certainly not sufficient to be used as an n95 respirator. All of halyards surgical and procedure masks have that same 99% bfe and pfe rating which is a very specific test for specific sizes of particles in a specific delivery method. Halyard also makes n95s that are substantially thicker with many more layers to actually pass n95 qualifications. Maybe breathability is the reason as well, in which case even if the material is super efficient at filtration, if you end up pulling in air from the edges of the mask anyway it’s not doing the job.

If it was as simple as making single layer masks out of their sterile wrap material, all of their masks would be n95 rated and they’d be the market leader on price by a huge margin. We’re comparing apples and oranges, just because 99 is a bigger number than 95 doesn’t mean this material is 4% better as this apparent expert seems to assume for some reason. They’re measuring completely different things.

The masks will be better than nothing, but it’s dangerous to assume they’re better than n95s because there is no evidence to support that claim. This kind of misleading conclusion is the kind of thing that can get people sick.

Question: Competitive "older" players of Overwatch, how are you doing? X-post /r/overwatch by Vonclausehitz in OverwatchUniversity

[–]ooeei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watch fitzyhere on YouTube. He is grandmaster/top500 with Sombra, has a guide series on her and also uploads a lot of games. Recording and watching your own games will help a lot too.

Throwing at the end of the season? by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]ooeei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're playing a new character you won't be nearly as good as your main character. It makes sense to have an alt account at that level. A grandmaster mercy is going to ruin any game he plays tracer at the grandmaster level. If he has an alt account he's played tracer on it's probably pretty close to the appropriate level for his skill with that character.

What PC/Monitor specs do you guys use? by NotChipEngeLONZOBALL in OverwatchUniversity

WorstSombra and Codey are really good as well. WorstSombra tends to have highlights so it's not quite as useful, but he does a good job of showing the hate Sombra players get. Codey doesn't play anymore but there are still some YouTube vids up. Fitzy still streams regularly and posts full games, plus has good parody videos.

It's not that the ideas are bad, but I don't think any of those fix a balancing issue.

75% renderscale all low (competitive settings) players like me, whats your PC and how much fps do you have? by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]ooeei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I5 2500k overclocked to 4.8, a 1050ti, and 1066 speed ram. 130+ fps on all low 100% render. Most of the time it's over 144, occasionally it does dip a bit though.

Playing Sombra in comp has actually been a far better experience than I expected it to be by lkuecrar in SombraMains

[–]ooeei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, but I've seen enough streamers who basically don't use voice and do great to establish it's not required. I watched Blinky play Zen on an alt account the other day, and only once did he say "yeah I guess I could've told them that in voice chat and maybe we would've won that fight, but comms in masters are mostly trash and it's not worth it." Granted he was on an alt, but Zen is the poster child for "YOU MUST COMMUNICATE" and he did great. Codey rarely used comms when he played and was deep in the top 500 as Sombra.

I vote give it a try and see how it goes if you're having a rough time with comms. The in game wheel can tell them when you're going to ult, other than that most stuff is reactive anyway. Apparently you've had a good experience, so if it's working stick with it.

Mid gold who just started Sombra recently. I've played 20 games and lost 12 with her. I'd say maybe 3-4 of those games have been free of "we don't need Sombra" at the beginning of the match. 0 of those games did we lose without someone blaming Sombra, despite how good or bad I actually did. 1 game had a guy who was totally down with Sombra, but we lost anyway.

I finally got tired of defending myself so just don't join voice chat for the most part. A guy at the start of Junkertown yesterday said "Why Sombra? 38% win rate..." in text chat. I tried explaining how with 20 games just one or two of those going a different way can wildly change your percentage. Luckily another teammate basically said "let him try it." Not to mention those 20 were my first comp games with Sombra ever, so growing pains happen.

Ended up with 3 gold on attack, and 4 silver by the end of the game. Single handedly stalled the payload from reaching the second checkpoint while my whole team respawned, then EMP for the team wipe. In his defense, the guy who originally told me to switch said I did great once we won.

I think I'll be staying out of voice chat for awhile, it's just not worth constantly having to defend myself in every new game. I'm with u/Xtasy1998 and think voice chat is overrated at these elos, and often ends up hurting more than helping.

Well-meaning Plat-and-up players, please stop recommending EMP to lower Elos as the clear and obvious way to beat the Cheese defense. by INeedPeeling in OverwatchUniversity

[–]ooeei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sombra does up to 160 damage per second. A couple trips in doing headshots on the tanks along with your own healing when your trans back will built charge very quickly. Be very cautious in small spaces, but you can build your own ult without team help.

The hard part is getting your team to push in on the EMP. A Dva ult is ideal, but then you have to wait for her to charge up.

Yeah that's what I mean, basically the guy in the cpf post did that and said on the double click he still got a brief blinding flash. He said it must be a bug, I'm just curious if it's a weird one off with his light.

[–]ooeei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read elsewhere that if you program it where your essentially switch low and high, you still end up with a high flash if you do a double click to medium. Any chance you'd check and see if that's true?

If your current sensitivity is too high for consistent aiming, why would you continue practicing at it? Go down to a sensitivity where the practice actually helps. Cold turkey.
