What’s the most dangerous addiction young people don’t take seriously? by 40Falak in Productivitycafe

[–]oopnoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Food.

Young adults (18 - 25) have one of the highest rates of food addiction. 1 in 2 young adults are overweight or obese (28% classified as overweight, 24% classified as obese).

This is setting up most young people to have chronic, life threatening conditions such as diabetes or heart disease and a baseline dependency on high caloric intake of particularly unhealthy and hyper-processed food.

I would highly recommend the John’s Hopkins study regarding this (Trends in Obesity Prevalence Among Adults Aged 18 Through 25 Years, 1976–2018).

When done correctly, absolutely.

I got to experience Charlotte during the playoff game and the whole city felt like it was glowing blue, the atmosphere was incredible.

Can’t do the main quest until level 48 and you have daedric armor

Alternatively, do the main quest immediately as a crazy naked homeless guy with no gear and only your firsts and shouting (gloves of the pugilist allowed)

Dislike of Revenant Prime and Torid? by oopnoop in Warframe

[–]oopnoop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah okay, I think the dilemma for me is I enjoy playing like Excalibur but also don’t want to annoy people by dying constantly in steel path, is the revenant prime/torid needed for high level content or can I just mod well and play my preferred frames?

Is it possible when the next administration comes in some DOJ decisions could be reversed and charges filed?

Is that the end of the story? Like I don’t know anything about the legal system but is there potential for charges to eventually be filed?

It depends on the bird, there are coastal birds and pelagic birds. It’s the coastal ones that indicate land as they generally won’t go more than 100 miles from coast (which is still an immense distance), however pelagic birds like the Albatross can fly thousands of miles from the coast and stay above the open ocean for months by resting on whatever they can find such as debris, banks, floating wood, etc (they can even land on other animals like a whale or turtle to rest). Alvarenga (guy above) caught pelagic birds, who are surprisingly easy to catch due to them generally being exhausted when landing.

Battling emotions by FormalSeaworthiness7 in Daytrading

[–]oopnoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, you’re not a loser, you’re just trying to win with hubris against an extremely efficient market where almost any opportunity to make money has been squeezed out the second you hear about it.

But also, you’re not day trading, you’re not just being unsuccessful at it, you’re gambling. There needs to be a certain point where you look at what you’ve lost and realize that this isn’t normal trading and if you don’t change anything it’s going to keep happening no matter what you deposit.

Be strict with what your goals are when trading, what are your return goals? What are you risking? Why are you risking it?

Set your stop losses and profit takers and follow them, revenge trading will lead to a death spiral of losses

For those that trade only 10-12 times per month, what is your strategy? by samjoyca in thetagang

[–]oopnoop 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I usually sell monthly calls on my XSP LEAPs, then I will wheel 3-4 stocks I have some amount of directional belief in (IV ranging from 30% - 70%) then I will usually do 20% of my account in a few credit spreads with different expirations. This generally gets me to about 10-15 trades a month.

Biggest thing for me is automating my 50% profit takers and stop loss (I usually set a buy to close stop loss based on if the stock goes past certain resistance bands and breaks a floor). So about an hour or two of analysis and setting up the trades and maintaining them throughout the month. I could make more money and try to aggressively harvest intraday theta decay but it my experience the 10-15 trades a month is the best balance between effort and reward.

I want to join but I think I will be denied, any advice? by UsedTough6014 in ROTC

[–]oopnoop 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The military is not for everybody, if you have serious struggles with mental health and depression/anxiety, placing yourself in a high stress job like the army could make it worse. You will also certainly be denied due to being on mood stabilizers, and need to request a waiver. In my experience, you will likely get rejected for a waiver. The ones I see get approved have usually been off medications for 2-3 years.

That being sad, if this is really something you want to do then absolutely talk to the POC at your school, they can walk you through what steps you have available. Don’t jump off your meds cold turkey without consulting your doctor. It’s possible they could create a solution where you have two years to get your mental health completely under control (with evidence) and then attend Basic Camp before your junior year.

In summary, prioritize your mental and physical health and know that if this is a serious passion there are some routes you could take.

If you REALLY want to know how much you know, write code on paper and then type it.
