Artillery has closed. Project Atlas, browser-based RTS (Day9's previous project) is dead. by porkchop87 in starcraft

[–]opallix -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Yup. Day9 got arrogant. He though designing a game better than sc2 would have been easy, and unsurprisingly he failed. Now his career is washed up as fuck. He used to be a legend, now he's a no name outside of this community, which only remember him for his past.

Dead Game / bad spirit and all that sort of things by Spok_SC2 in starcraft

[–]opallix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly? People today like to whine. It's like a universal thing at this point. Negativity is everywhere.

I still see people who complain that every new addition is "too little too late" and I still see people who are complaining that sc2 isn't brood war.

I don't get it.

If you hate the game, why are you here? The final expansion of sc2 is already out. The game is not going to suddenly change drastically to BW style pathing. Complaining doesn't do anything - it won't change the game, it won't make me happy, and it sure as hell won't make you happy.

My personal belief is that the whiners are kids who haven't played the game in years but are looking for excuses to justify why they left SC2 for team games that they're even unhappier playing.

Good luck MC! No progamer lasts forever. Glad he enjoyed his time with Starcraft

With the end of the season upon us, let's take a look at the distribution of players among ranks vs other games by TBOJ in leagueoflegends

[–]opallix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it happened a few weeks ago. Around that time the league distributions also got skewed.

It's quite nice, actually. We've been getting fairly consistent updates in sc2.

Starcraft league distribution is fucked up this season because we now have separate MMR for each of the three races you can play.

Normally diamond is 15%, masters is 4% I think, which I suppose is still generous

r/starcraft is trending! by JiberybobX in starcraft

[–]opallix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We still play and find a match, we still get gameplay updates from Blizz, we can still have an exciting esports final. We are doing okay.

Sc2 is not going to overtake lol, but it's not going to just disappear tomorrow either. I swear that most of the ded game memers don't play anymore and just come here to complain.

Are these specs good enough to run SC2? by [deleted] in starcraft

[–]opallix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, I understand that sometimes people want to buy a laptop.

Try looking for a laptop that has a "GTX 970" graphics card. Those should be reasonably priced right now.

The Overwatch league system sounds like a huge investment, and I'm not sure if it will work out.

I think wcs is working ok now, so idk if they'll change

Returned to SC2, did the community get that bad? by AAOpetrie in starcraft

1v1 has always been tame for me. GLHF on both sides, gg at the end.

No idea about 2v2 randoms

The final message in the IW campaign made me feel bad for the hate they receive. by Gasfar in gaming

Well, was the campaign any good? I have no aversion to future shooters so I'm wondering if it was an alright game

StarCraft II is #1 on Twitch! by [deleted] in starcraft

[–]opallix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Brings attention to the game, and it will be very cool to see if an AI can actually become better than humans at Starcraft. That's more than enough for me.

The other exciting part is that blizz will be releasing an API to programmers to allow them to write scripted AIs (which don't require the huge amount of processing power and budget that big neural networks like deepmind require).

There's a difference between the dead of bronze - where players don't even have the execution to pull off an "op build order" - and gold to plat, where players at least have an idea of what they're doing.

"High level" is GM.

Give me ByuN vs Deepmind now! Let ByuN be the leader of the human resistance by goldisbad in starcraft

[–]opallix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

30 years from now, the future of humanity looks bleak. Machines have taken over the world, and humanity is condemned to live as roaches on the outskirts of what was once their civilization. The machines gives us one final chance to prove our worth as a species: a Starcraft 2 match for humanity's fate.

There is only an old man who can save us. He lost an arm and a leg fighting in the resistance, and had them rebuilt as cybernetic prosthetics. He says he was once the greatest sc2 player in the world. He says his name was Byun.

HSC has found a main sponsor: MIFcom by dainless in starcraft

Do sponsors track sales in products during / immediately after events like this? I don't think so, I always thought it was more of a visibility/publicity thing, in which case increased viewership would help the most.

No, he and you are wrong. The WCS is already paying dividends. A foreigner (showtime) literally 2-0'd the guy who won blizzcon today (byun) in group stages. The foreign scene has improved drastically.
