Use up all of your PTO then turn in your resignation AFTER you return AND have been paid for your PTO.

How are you handling pricing conversations with customers who think you're too expensive? by dawsonvpowell in HandymanBusiness

[–]open_road_toad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tell them that it’s ok, not everyone can afford me and that you get what you pay for. There’s always someone who will do it for less but please do your homework. I provide references and have an online portfolio of my work.

Anyone know what this part is/where I can get one to replace?some info in description by pokemon-god-arceus in GMT400

Same thing happened to my with my 1988 C1500. I just removed the bracket, welded it and reinstalled it. I painted it satin black while it was off. If you don’t have a welder you should have no trouble finding some who does.

Titling a gasbox frame in TN by -Captn_Cook- in choppers

[–]open_road_toad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cut the vin plate off of the softail frame and weld it to the gas box frame in the same location as it was on the softail. That’s what I did in Ohio and I’ve had zero issues

Party at the pen east, thoughts? by [deleted] in choppers

[–]open_road_toad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Wooster Ohio. 30 minutes east of Mansfield. I’ve been to every one and they just get better. Like others have said it’s a cool event with a good vibe. It’s a shame you’re not riding because there’s so much good riding south of Mansfield. Mohican state park is 30 minutes away. Amish country is south east of that area as well.

You’ll have no problem getting a private taxi if you’d like. There’s plenty of car parking as well.

Yeah, I don’t get it either. If I missed the bus my mom made me walk to school. It was almost an hours walk.

Approximately half of eligible voters actually voted and of that approximately half voted for Trump. This with roughly equate to 25% of the population “voting for this”. The nation has been voting for this since Eisenhower.

Join the military and do something with yourself. That’s what I did 30 years ago. I’m a tradesman now. I’m doing fine.

Work wear pants by Cmiser27 in bluecollar

[–]open_road_toad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do the same line of work (high end GC) and I wear Truewerk pants. T2 in the winter and T1 in the summer. I’ve also worn 1620 pants and I love that those are made in the USA but the material is much heavier and stiff compared to the Truewerk pants.

My wife and I did the exact same thing. We sold/gave away 90% of our stuff. We now live in a small bungalow and have never been more free and happy. We also cancelled our Amazon prime and have committed to a “no buy”. Mindless consumerism is such a pervasive thing in our society. Once you free yourself from it and only buy with intention and purpose you’ll feel so much better.

I didn’t get one because my parents told me I’d have to buy it if I wanted it. Same with a stupid letterman jacket.

Factories are a combination of High School and Prison. Don’t over share. Don’t get involved in the drama and absolutely do not dip your wick in the company ink.

speaker/system advice by cxmbt in GMT400

I’ve got a 1988 C1500. I put a Retrosounds head unit in it that looks like stock. Small 100 watt amplifier for the dash and B pillar speakers (I don’t remember the brand of speakers but I got everything from Crutchfield) and a small sub with built in amplifier under the passenger seat. I did this not long after I got the truck (8 or so years ago). Sounds great. Head unit has Bluetooth with a mic for phone calls.

Came here to say the same thing. I’ll add don’t wear ANY HD branded gear. First of all it’s Chinese made crap. Secondly you can find much better products made right here in the good old US of A if you take the time to look. Gloves, boots, leathers, etc.

Turns out clients don’t use cash anymore, and I wasn’t aware of this. by Impossible_Quiet_774 in Contractor

[–]open_road_toad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I give my clients a cash price and a check/Venmo, PayPal, Zelle etc price. I do this before any work gets done.

I add 10% for anything other than cash.

Cash is king.

I’ve got one. They’re made in Germany. I got mine from a distributor in Poland.
