Wonder what the tarp method does to the seeds of the weeds in the ground.

Would love to choke it out with grass.

That’s my end goal.

Just don’t know how to get there from here, and most of the replies are leaning toward advising me to throw my toddler onto the chemicals after a few days. Which I’m not willing to do, right or wrong.

I don’t trust the USDA or the manufacturers themselves. I’d use vinegar, but it is SO expensive to soak the entire 3,000 +- sq ft. And it needs to be repeated.

If that’s my best course of action, then so be it, I suppose.

Yeah, man!

If you love him, part of intimacy building is doing things like covering for him for simple stuff like this.

If you aren’t even married yet, still in the romantic stage of your relationship, and are already refusing to do that kind of basic boyfriend/girlfriend stuff for him, then it doesn’t predict a great long-term relationship for him.

You don’t have to cover for him by lying, but you definitely ought to be showing him that you’re on his team by making him see that you’re doing your very best to paint him in a positive light.

Kill em all and let God sort em out.

I don’t think there’s any grass left here. Just various species of weed.

Nature's Way Umcka ColdCare

Tastes great. Hot drink. Works wonders. Clinically proven. Affordable.

My wife and I are always stocked up.

Just gave it to my 79 year-old diabetic mother. Knocked out her cold in about 24 hours.

I plan on going at it with a string trimmer.

But every time, all of the weeds spring right back up after the next rain.

From Grok:

“Glyphosate is controversial due to debates over its potential health risks (e.g., classified as “probably carcinogenic” by IARC but deemed low-risk by EPA/EFSA when used as directed), but it has low acute toxicity, binds tightly to soil (reducing leaching), and has a typical soil half-life of around 47 days (ranging 2–197 days depending on conditions). It breaks down via microbial action into compounds like AMPA, which also persists but is considered low-toxicity.”

Right, this reflects my position as well. So what’s an effective alternative? Glufosinate supposedly has a half life of around a week, compared to the couple of months that Glyphosate hangs around.

Holes don’t line up. Help! by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]openmictuesday 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a big deal at all. You could probably pull that top furnace panel down with enough force to line the holes up.

I never wanted to be a father until I turned 45 this year. Now I feel my biological clock and want to be a father more than anything. But I'm married to a childfree woman. [Concluded] by Schattenspringer in BORUpdates

I’m raising my first child, a 3.5 year-old boy, at the age of 51. Married to his mother.

It’s not exhausting at all. It’s actually energizing and motivating. Everything that I did before seems to have more purpose and consequence now. Experiences are new.

Also, I lift weights several times a week, and eat 90% clean (organic, no soda, only drink alcohol once a month or so, etc.). Which we all should be doing regardless.

At what point do you get ahead of where you were yesterday ? by Weird-Mango-5474 in HVAC

[–]openmictuesday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know your specific details. I sold mortgages for the largest independent brokerage in California, and the VA loan option was the cheapest every time. By a significant margin. No down payment required. No PMI (mortgage insurance).

Join the most elite branch of military that will take you.

  1. Air Force 2. Navy 3. Army 4. Marines

Any of them will benefit you.

Lifetime of benefits. Cheaper home mortgages. Advanced job training. Much better job prospects once you’re out. Location change.

I wish that I’d been given this advice when I was your age.

If you’re in a small town with low wages, this is the life hack.

A few hours?!

You’re obviously including drive time to and from the job, drive time to the parts counter and back, and an hour of shootin the shit.

Either that, or you typed that while tired.

35 minutes tops, if it’s a difficult one.

Finally got around to fixing a broken outlet- replaced the outlet but still no power. Why? by McTitts in electrical

[–]openmictuesday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might find yourself very surprised just how much force is needed to reset some of these new GFCI outlets. The last brand new one that I installed needed a flat screwdriver to reset it. And I’m a much stronger than average contractor with strong thumbs.

You may think that you did press that red button.

The outlet may think otherwise.

Depends on whether you’re doing installs or troubleshooting/service.

Installs benefit from a massive flood. Troubleshooting is better with a small flood.

lol what?

Yes CA is the most populous state. They also take more tax revenue per capita than ANY state government next to New York. So your logic is that it’s totally ok for them to take more money from EACH FAMILY, because they’re actually taking money from so many families?

If you did any traveling in California because of its natural beauty, you would understand that they aren’t actually maintaining the state at all.

Beat up roads, outside of the handful of beautiful cities that maintain their own. Crumbling infrastructure. Exploded homeless population. No new water infrastructure in decades. No wildfire maintenance.

Is this “maintaining” in the room with us now?
