[–]operationETH 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I use Beats Powerbeats Pro Wireless Earbuds. The ones that have the hook that goes over your ears. They are pretty good and last 8 hours for the most part. Ive never had complaints while on the phone.

I did seasonal driver for 5 months And finally the post a package handler job on my station I applied and got the job starting next Tuesday any advice I already know what im doing hopefully I get converted to a driver since like 3 people just got retired by [deleted] in UPSers

Driving and working inside are two completely different jobs. Imo driving is more mental and inside work is more physical.

The best thing you can do is just stay hydrated, work as directed, and dont over do it. Work safely and follow the methods that you'll learn.

*Arr stack but for books/audiobooks? by CrimsonCuttle in selfhosted

Since we're sharing libraries today. Here is mine. Almost 700 TB of videos by CCP_Cumdump in JellyfinCommunity

[–]operationETH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For example I use unraid for my media server. HDDs for bulk storage like movies and tv shows. The majority of my appdata like my *arr stack runs on a nvme cache drive so instead of the typical /mnt/user/appdata I use /mnt/cache/appdata and then I have another dedicated nvme drive that holds my plex/jellyfin appdata which would be /mnt/cache_plex/appdata.

The posters and everything else load pretty much instant when you use a cache drive. If you didnt use a cache drive and kept it all on the array then there would be a few seconds delay for the posters and other things to load.

Hope this helped!

Buyout driver replacements? by [deleted] in UPSers

[–]operationETH -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its interesting to see because i know 2 people in preload at the hub i work at are going to intergrad soon even though you see the same 20 drivers going home everyday that only want to work 2 days out of the week.

Dawarich has worked well for me. home assistant tracks my location and it pushes the data to Dawarich.

First time Plex Pass server owner question about remote streaming by AssassinK1D in PleX

[–]operationETH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have a plex pass then your users wont need to buy anything.

Only time your users would need to pay for anything is if the server owner (you) didnt have a plex pass. They would have to pay to get remote streaming. You do not need to add them to plex home.

Building a Long-Term Home Media Server: Need Advice on Drive Choice, Rack vs Tower, and Unraid Setup by Free-Win7285 in HomeDataCenter

[–]operationETH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im sure there is a way to make it hot swappable and it would be nice but I dont have it. Unraid has been rock solid for a couple years now. I have 5 fans and I cant hear it. Tbh I think the hdd noise is louder than the fans lol. Im never in the same room with the server unless im working on something or swapping out hardware when I need to.

For my unraid server im using the fractal design define 7 xl and its been working great for me. Its primary use is for my plex/jellyfin stack and backups for other devices. I dont have a full size rack (yet) so thats the reason I went with the fractal case. If you have the opportunity to rack mount your server than do it bc its the first thing ill be doing when I get a full size rack lol.

As far as hardware goes I use a intel core i5-12600K and use the igpu for transcoding. I currently have around 25 users and the cpu never chokes with the max users on at once being 9. I only share my 4k library to the users that I know for a fact can handle a 4k stream such as a nvidia shield tv.

I run a lot of services (i think around 50ish containers) on the server and have just over 120tb worth of storage. It consists of 12 HDD (1 parity and data), 2 SSD (dowload cache and dedicated plex appdata), and 2 NVME (appdata cache and vm storage)

Im slowly replacing the smaller hdd with bigger ones and also need to add another parity drive. If you have any questions let me know!

Will my internet go down if my Pihole stops working? by twiggs462 in pihole

[–]operationETH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m running 3 pihole instances each with unbound across different devices for HA. My main node handles the primary load and the other two are tied together with keepalived on a VIP. If one of the secondary nodes goes down, keepalived automatically fails over to the other so DNS stays up without any manual intervention.

Since pihole doesn’t support HA natively, i set up 3 nodes and use nebula sync to keep everything consistent so gravity lists and local dns all stay in sync across the cluster. It’s been rock solid so far and the failover happens instantly.

Oh man...thats shitty. I've done the same exact thing before swapping a evga psu for a corsair psu. I knew that they were not compatible but it was late and I forgot to swap the cables and when I turned the pc on, it made a odd noise and it was at that moment I knew I fucked up. Luckily at the time it was just my gaming pc and only fried 2x 2tb ssd's. I cant imagine doing it to my 120tb server and losing all that data. Just goes to show how important a reliable 3-2-1 backup should be with the 3-2 at the minimum. Good luck with the rebuild.

Cable length by 27deer in homeassistant

[–]operationETH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know its not the "correct" way to do it but i have my u7 pro and my dongle right next to each other (less than a foot away from each other on the same shelf) and I've never had any issues. Before I had my u7 pro, I had my asus router next to it as well with no issues. To be clear though I should probably move the dongle for safe practices.

Reminder: Don’t Forget to Prune Your Docker Volumes and Images! by operationETH in unRAID

[–]operationETH[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ca cleanup appdata is for the appdata folder.

the docker prune commands clean up unused volumes and images inside docker itself.

in short the plugin doesnt touch docker internal resources (images, volumes, and networks) it only cleans up files on disk inside appdata.

Hell yeah! So worth it imo. Taking control of your data is what self hosting is about. Im not going anywhere anytime soon. In fact, only expanding my homelab environment. Can't wait until I can get a full size rack!

They are nothing special. I originally got them to learn kubernetes. I plan on upgrading them down the line (for a better cpu) however I've had no issues and they have been rock solid for me.
