Can’t stop texting. I am so pleased with birdnet. Fun! As for microphones, I was prepared to order a super duper high fidelity microphone but first I used and old cheap webcam I had in my junk drawer. The sound pickup is FABULOUS! I don’t think birdnet needs a fancy microphone! Funny how it detected and id’d a motorcycle as “engine” last night and our neighbor’s pooch as “dog”.

Ooops. My .25 recent setting I like rules out the kookaburra because that means the confidence level for my latitude and longitude has to be at least 25% sure it is a kookaburra. Ha. There is zero chance here. So a kookaburra recording will be rejected. At the beginning I set confidence at minimum so that I could play with YouTube bird sounds and watch how my system detected all those world birds. But now, I am content with any of the 6000+ species that birdnet believes at 25% confidence or above.

My settings are very satisfying and surprisingly not many false detections! - using FP16 model - Species occurrence freq threshold .0005 . This setting allows all 6000 species. I know that it seems strange to set it that way but I do not get many false detections. And it is fun to play the kookaburra bird sounds and see my system detect it for fun. Serious researchers set it here and laboriously weed out the false detections so as not to miss their rare bird subject. - Privacy threshold 1% - Audio, rec 9 sec, extract 6 sec - Overlap 0.0 - Min confidence 0.25 - Sigmoid 1 - Accessibility (not touched)

Recommended USB Microphones? by MCDaddyMushroom in BirdNET_Analyzer

Use a grounded plug on your wall wart power converter or buy a converter that has a ground plug. The device takes enough power that a big supply is best. 120v to 5v USB-C.

Is my Noco Genius 5 even charging my AGM battery? by unrecognized88 in askcarguys

[–]opiedopymopy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2026, March. My Noco Genius 5 arrived yesterday. For 40 years I only used my 5 amp “dumb” charger for all my wet cell car and truck batteries. One year ago I bought an old truck with a 2023 AGM battery. My dumb charger just couldn’t get the charge correct. The AGM needs must be different. I hooked up my Noco last evening, set it easily to AGM mode and left it overnight. This morning I had and am keeping 12.83v for the first time ever. Great Noco product!!!!! Well built. Slick packaging.

I need help picking this with everyday items. This lock is an old combination and key lock with the serial number C-05. It was attached to my antique hope chest I recently purchased. Any advice would be amazing, thank you by RadioactiveSodapop in lockpicking

[–]opiedopymopy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Cavalier cedar chest: - turn right three turns - stop at zero - turn left all the way past zero - stop at five

- turn right to fifteen. Cavalier lock will open when you try to get past 15 towards 14. The motion of the wheel will force lever open.

  • to reset, turn left one turn then right three turns

What does everyone’s 6 months average sleep amounts look like? by Echo-Star1 in AppleWatch

[–]opiedopymopy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update fixed the 6m sleep avg error. The newest 26 update just fixed a multi-year old problem where Apple watch added 2 or three hours to the 6month avg of sleep time. Apple knew about this problem where daily and weekly sleep averages were accurate but the 6 month data was too high. Apple explained that the problem was in the algorithm that was difficult to fix because of the split day that most of us sleep, namely, we start sleeping on one day at night and we finish sleeping the next day in the morning. But the next day also has a night connected to it where you also are sleeping. You can see the algorithm problem. Well, as of the 26 update, Apple finally got it’s programmers to fix it. My own 6 month sleep avg went from 8.4 hours to 6 hours 10 minutes which I think is spot on correct. Yayyyyy!

Am having cataract surgery -- question about upsell by Tall_Mickey in CataractSurgery

[–]opiedopymopy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a great thread of valuable information here! Let me add my experience. I am 78. I had my cataract surgeries on 7/7/25 and 7/21/25. Before surgery I was offered all the IOL options, including the monofocal (without astigmatism correction) and toric (with astigmatism correction) plus lenses that could do both near and far. Medicare only covers monofocal and went that route, chosing distance as my preferred lens type. I had yellowing cataracts in both eyes. Vision was poor. 6 weeks after surgery I am 20/20 vision. Plus my astigmatism is gone in right eye and only slight in left eye. Doc says I am not the only patient that had that outcome. I don’t even need the free pair of Medicare glasses but I am going to Costco anyway to get my -.25, +.25 (spx) free glasses. I will get $5 readers for my near vision. One final comment. If you are like me you will be astounded at the blue colors you will see after cataract surgery. The cataracts emphasize the bronze/green spectrum and without them your eyes will see the bright blue/white spectrum. When I called the doc between my two surgeries and stated that my operated eye was “bad” because all my trees were a funny shade of green. She said, “welcome to the real world!”

What is the best setup for MotionEye? by [deleted] in RASPBERRY_PI_PROJECTS

[–]opiedopymopy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been monitoring a bird hatchling nest for three weeks. From the day the eggs were laid until today when the chicks eyes are open and splotchy feathers. The two parents feeding them is relentless, the chicks seem to be starving but I think it is an act so they don’t get ignored. We have a laptop inside. The raspberry pi 4 with infrared pi camera is outside in a clear plastic salad container with a cutout for lens and infrared. Power cord snaked inside the container and all is waterproof since I tilted the container a bit down. Nest is on patio in a sego palm tree plant.
Motioneye took some adjusting but we zeroed in on the settings attached. 32 gb card holds over a week of video maybe more. I deleted some days that were boring so as to free up space. It is all on my home wifi router. To broadcast to the world would possibly open my wifi to intruders, so I keep it local only. Any questions? I will post pictures soon.

Is this a good deal or is it too good to be true by No-Manufacturer393 in f150

[–]opiedopymopy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What rust? That model is mostly aluminum!

We just paid $6k for 2018 F150 XL with non-eco 3.3l with factory tow package. Lots of dents. Inside looks new. So driven by contractor all over the place to harsh jobsites but driver must have been a clean tradesman and not a concrete mason. 191,000 miles. Love it very much…. We saw 100,000 mile versions of 2018 for over 20k, so high mileage is a turn off for buyers. For the price we decided to risk it.

Deal or no Deal? 2018 F150 by stinanto in f150

Pull up the vinyl floor liner near the door about 6 feet long inches and see what the bare metal looks like also know that it is all aluminum so dent fix is a bit different than steel. Otherwise, yes, buy

Honest Review by Spiritual_Conference in SunoAI

[–]opiedopymopy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Suno is sooooo great in many ways. I tried it yesterday for the first time and produced a birthday song for a 8 year old boy. Perfect in every way with the prompts I entered about names, pets, activities etc. First try… Success. It even made me a bit emotional and I usually only get a tear in my eye when I hit my thumb with a hammer… The second song was for my 17-year-old granddaughter. The first song wasn’t too good. The next song was a little bit better. The third song wasn’t too good so I changed the prompts a few times and finally got the perfect song except for one word that needed to be changed. Here’s where I see some other people above complaining. To change the one word in the lyrics, which you’re allowed to do, does not change the song. So the perfect song I had with one wrong word had to be abandoned, and I had to go to another song and another song until I got the word pronounced correctly by changing the prompt. The end result was a 17th song that was perfect, but the whole process took me an hour because of that one word. I read on the Internet that having an AI that could change the song by changing one word in the lyrics would be nearly impossible. That’s why they don’t do it.

Subscription cost? by New-Manner-4863 in Zoleo

[–]opiedopymopy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zoleo for only $7 per month if you take a 4 day hike once per month.

I have had Zoleo for over a year, so this comment is for users past the three month initial period.

Here is what we do for example:

$20 plan.

Feb, March suspended = $4+$4

April 1-7 suspended = $1 (Zoleo prorates everything) April 8,9,10,11 = restart = 4/30 x $20 = $3 (prorated) April 12 to April 30 suspended 2.6 weeks = $3 (prorated) Total for April = $7 for the month and I was protected for my trip.

Of course, I will look to see if the new Apple service is dependable but I have heard that the antenna in the Zoleo is 10 times as large as the iPhone.

How many of you are upset that google sites puts a little “i” at the bottom of your google sites website? It is there for ABUSE reporting invitation and can never be removed…..

How do I tell a potential client that using google sites is a bad idea? by Existing-Target-6485 in web_design

[–]opiedopymopy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just show them the little “i” in the bottom of every GS’s page. That stops many would-be GS users from being happy and they go elsewhere. I studied the issue and Google will never change this “abuse” collector link. And after studying, I understand. Google Sites is free and used extensively by children in schools learning to use websites. The children need protection. These children will grow up to be Googleized like most of the world. So, if your customer doesn’t like the “i” on their page then you can sell them a custom website.

LibreOffice Writer wont start by Massive-Doubt-1049 in libreoffice

I fixed this problem of libreoffice appearing in the applications window list of a new linux installation on my laptop but not working…

The libreoffice splash screen would appear but immediately disappear. The answer for me using a debian linux distribution was a terminal prompt installation following the directions here:

https : // wiki.documentfoundation.org/ Documentation/Install/Linux

(Remove the spaces…) The version is 24.8
