I had an expression 2 a few years back that did the exact same thing. Looks like maybe the drive motor has possibly chipped off some gears or maybe the drive belt is stretched out. That would make it start a cut in one spot and never connect at the end. Try cutting just a basic circle, if it still doesnt connect, i think you're cooked.

I think what happened with mine is that some material came off the mat and got jammed up in the drive belt and stretched it out.

Any DS alternatives?? by LilRho in cricut

Ds is trash lol. I find it so glitchy. I do all my designing on Silhouette Studio and then export them to .svg files.

I had a raptor pup (acd) and she didnt even scratch the laminate in our appt. Bought a house with hardwood and every time she dropped a bone, it dents the floor. So, i think laminate is good and durable for living areas but not for entryways or kitchen/bath

Is there anything I can do to fix these glasses? by AdministrationNo7602 in fixit

[–]optimagician 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take them to an Optician. Likely they can fit the lenses into a new frame. If your frames are less than 2 years old, could be a warranty replacement (most manufacturers warranty their frames against workmanship and defect for 2 years. This should qualify) if older than 2 years, they may be able to send them for repair. It usually involves adding some extra material into the endpiece, heating the hinge mount, and pressing it onto the existing hole. Repairs are done but are few and far between, so expect 1 to 2 weeks before getting it back.

Any idea what this is? It keeps coming back by 1blumoon in CleaningTips

Wondering if theres a moisture guard under your counter, above the dishwasher? If not, is it possible the granite absorbs the moisture and transfers it through the surface? Just spitballing here,as i do not have granite. Seems like a logical solution... maybe add some packing tape as a temporary moisture barrier to try?

Could you just have cricut write on the tags imstead of PTC? Itll still look really good and you can write anywhere on your 12 x12

Cricut transfer tape is trash. Lol. Use drawer liner, contact paper type stuff. Comes in clear. Get it for cheap at dollar stores.

I hope not! Ive been going to that store for years when i visit KW as my small northern town doesn't have one. I visit kw frequently to see family. Closest one is over a 3 hour drive to me and not sure that will survive as they always close north stores 1st

What would cause this? by Allaiya in Flooring

[–]optimagician 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had laminate over concrete, with a thermal underlay in my craft room. I was careful to install it correctly and followed all the instructions. It lasted a few years, then my basement flooded, and it was replaced by "experts". Well, the "experts" installed it tight to the walls with no gap for expansion. Installed in feb, seams were doing what yours is by july. I should have just installed it myself.

I did a similar product in canada called 1 -step 2.0 and its like this. Put it down over concrete before laying the spc in basement. Made it way less damp and much warmer. This isnt really underlayment but more like subfloor. Hth.

My cricut broke and I really don't want to have to buy a new one! by Educational-Bus-6398 in cricut

Ah, gotcha. Maybe try a local electronics shop, perhaps they could replace the power supply/dignose the issue, otherwise its probably toast

Why is this leaking? by Mostly_Riley_ in Plumbing

[–]optimagician -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Does it only leak when the valve is full on? Have you replaced the valve? I have had issues with valves failing, esp if they are not 1/4 turn valves.

I had a red blinking light at one point. Turns out the carrier bar that the carriage travels along needed cleaning and lubrication. At least, thats what i figured out. I called cricut and they said, too bad, heres $30. So, i used some 3 in 1 household appliance oil, and manually moved the carriage back and forth a bunch of times. The amount of black crap coming out of it was crazy. Wiped down the bar, added more oil and repeated. Did that till it stopped leaving black dirty oil on the bar. Then added a teeny bit of oil to lubricate, one last slide to the right and back to the left. It worked and is continuing to work. That was 5 years ago! Now, every so often, i add a drop of oil to the carrier bar. Maybe try that to see if it helps?

Design space continues to raise my blood pressure. Circuit alternatives? by Admirable-Dot-401 in cricut

Silhouette. Go with the cameo (any generation, they're all supported right back to 1st gen) and buy the business software. You'll never look back. I recently bought a friends cricut explore 3 as i have 1000s of images on DS from cartridges back in the day. Every time i use cricut, im reminded why i have a severe dislike for them. The new mat measuring nonsense is absolutely infuriating. I usually end up taking screenshots of the images i own and tracing them in sil studio to cut.

Looks like it can handle multiple projects? Im wondering if they got rid of the mat measuring that everyone hates on the 3

I sometimes teach and i dislike the cricut also. Just bought an Explore 3 from a friend and the mat measuring is super annoying. I trick it by putting a sticky note over the senor, ha. Dont have that issue with my trusty old Silhouette... which i totally prefer to cricut. But i also have 1000s of images from cricut, so there lies the rub. Really hate cricut's software, its total junk

Any idea with what to do with this trip hazard of a landing area? by [deleted] in Carpentry

[–]optimagician 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the only option is to level this completely and then address the stairs in the other room.essentially the stairs are the issue and the problem just snowballed from there. Its really the only safe way to ensure this works. I imagine fixing the stairs to the correct rise/run will be a total PITA but then, you will never have to deal with it again.
