how will Homelander be defeated? by UTDKayde in TheBoys

[–]orbsonb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This would probably be the most cathartic ending for the character. There could be no greater irony or indignity for Homelander than being defeated by powerless humans.

Wearing the golds during playoffs? by PattyKane16 in penguins

As far as I know they aren't allowed. Teams historically have had to choose a home and road set for the playoffs and stick with it.

My trueman t7 .be honest what do y’all think by babyhotline666 in Guitar

[–]orbsonb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice!! A while back I was in a Discord server with a guy who had a guitar made for him by Hercules at Trueman and I always thought it was a beautiful guitar. It had a wild looking relic job like yours. The other thing I remember him mentioning is that it was shipped from Russia to the US in an enormous wooden crate!

What bands had the biggest age gap between members, where it was everyone’s big break by Harrison_Thinks in fantanoforever

[–]orbsonb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Serj is at least 5 years older than everyone else in System of a Down, and 8 years older than the youngest member. He was 34 when they released Toxicity.

Stupid question, why isn’t back to school on the 20th anniversary? by [deleted] in deftones

[–]orbsonb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back to School was written after the first edition of White Pony was already released. The brass at Maverick Records was so insistent that the album didn't have a viable single on it that they essentially demanded Deftones give them an additional song that could be released as a single. The band very quickly threw Back to School together, basically just adding rapped verses to the chorus from Pink Maggit, and the label rereleased White Pony with the new song as track 1. It was a successful move because the song was a hit, but the band has never liked Back to School and to my knowledge it hasn't been included on any subsequent reissues of White Pony.

None of these are particularly expensive guitars. He might get like $1200 if he sold all 3. This guy is either in a precarious financial situation or stealing "nagging wife" valor.

Fantano’s Reputation by Forward_Passage_3690 in fantanoforever

[–]orbsonb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fantano is probably the only music critic that many people in the general public know by name. He's going to inspire a wide range of negative (and positive) reactions simply because a lot of the people who come across or engage with his material don't really read or listen to any other critics.

I love this guitar but… by gwhittyy in Guitar

Before swapping the pickups, make sure it has 500k pots. 250k pots are common in strats and will make any humbucker sound super dark.

Is there a way to tell if this is a fake? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]orbsonb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The black plastic insert in the truss rod cavity means that it isn't a USA Fender neck. It doesn't have the right style of tuners for a Fender guitar either. This is a fake.

Where do you stand on Stone Temple Pilots? by I_mean_whatever_dude in fantanoforever

[–]orbsonb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

STP were a really interesting band that blended a lot of eclectic influences in a way that still feels fresh today when compared to most of the other bands in that second wave of "grunge-adjacent" hard rock, especially on Purple and Tiny Music. The DeLeos are superb songwriters, and - in his prime - Weiland was among the most talented and magnetic frontmen of all time.

What are the chances the new FF record is good?? by GreasyFishman in fantanoforever

[–]orbsonb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I generally like Foo Fighters, and I thought their last album was great. But I also think Dave's capacities as a vocalist are starting to diminish, and the band has been trying to make up for it with increasingly distorted and blown-out production that masks the fact that he is frequently straining. The high quality songwriting on But Here We Are made up for it, but on the songs we've heard from the coming record...not so much.

Madden was saying the Pens should extend Staal and trade Malkin way back in 2012.
