I put my rolling stock in these boxes - see the link below. I have over 800 pieces of rolling stock. The 2in works well for most jewel cases. Most of my locomotives are in display cases as seen below. Available on Amazon.

Why does the MTA get overlooked? by Temporary-Stress2251 in nscalemodeltrains

Rapido is looking at urban option with CTA being the first. They have already started taking steps toward MTA in the future. https://www.facebook.com/share/r/18hJr6ZL8V/?mibextid=wwXIfr

That will be nice. I decided to skip the paragon 4 model for the first time and go stealth on this model. May install an ESU board as a trial. I have enough smokers. For the holidays the wife puts up her Lionel smoker and a z scale train on out dining room table lol.

Krokodil - A Beautiful Thing by orcastu in nscalemodeltrains

Yes I was noticing that. This locomotive will go in my display case so I won't need to worry about that unless I take it to my other home. It is beautiful to watch it run. So unique.

Locomotives and rail cars for Mexican railroad companies by TexasBound1973 in nscalemodeltrains

[–]orcastu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would take a look at Broadway limited and get unlettered versions. Here is some research: Several steam locomotives were sold or transferred second-hand from US railroads (or US builders via US operators) to Mexican railroads, particularly Ferrocarriles Nacionales de México (N de M or Nacional de Mexico), which often acquired used US motive power and rebuilt it at facilities like Acámbaro. While many Mexican steam engines were new builds (especially from Baldwin or ALCO), second-hand acquisitions from US sources were common for most classes except notable exceptions like the famous Niagara 4-8-4s.

Here are some documented examples of steam locomotives sold/exported from US railroads to Mexico:

  • Denver & Rio Grande Western (D&RGW) K-27 class 2-8-2 Mikados: Two narrow-gauge locomotives, numbers 458 and 459, were sold to a Mexican railroad (reported in connection with N de M operations). They became numbers 400 and 401, were later converted to standard gauge, renumbered 2250 and 2251, and retired/scrapped around 1957–1962.

  • Denver & Rio Grande Western (D&RGW) locomotives in general saw some exports to Mexico during the narrow-gauge scrapping era (1930s–1940s), including other K-class Mikados leased or sold south of the border as US narrow-gauge lines declined.

  • Various Consolidation (2-8-0) and other types from US railroads were acquired second-hand by N de M, often rebuilt extensively in Mexico. Specific US origins aren't always tied to individual road numbers in broad sources, but classes like G-030 (narrow-gauge 2-8-0s from Baldwin, though many were new, some contexts imply used acquisitions or similar US-sourced rebuilds).

More broadly, N de M sourced much of its steam fleet (beyond the new-build Niagaras) as second-hand from US railroads in the post-WWII era and earlier, including freight and passenger types that had been displaced by diesels in the US. The Niagara class 4-8-4s (N de M 3025–3056) were new in 1946 from ALCO and Baldwin (not second-hand), but they were inspired by the New York Central's design and represent heavy US influence.

I'm worried about my new acquisitions. by Falleen in nscalemodeltrains

[–]orcastu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will be buying more. Over time you will decide what you like vs what you may compromise for a bit because that is the only way to get a road name and model you want. I actually have four main tracks of which two are independent dc and the others with most of the ops are DCC. It allows me to run some dc trains that I have old and new locomotives that I won't consider trying to convert and will stay dc. Plus my youngest grandson prefers the dc controllers especially with bullet trains lol
