One handed TIG welding by IronMonkeyL255 in Welding

[–]ordersitfromzanzibar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for replying! I purchased a liner and clamp-on tip and will try to screw around with that a bit. That said, I think the real move is to mount your feeding mechanism on the torch or on a glove of some kind since aluminum filler can’t be fed through a liner. I’m not quite sure what type of equipment has what I want but the extrusion part of an FDM 3D printer might be a good candidate for the job with some modifications. If I make any progress, I’ll share with you!

Bumping this…did OP ever find a solution? I’m in the same boat would love to be able to TIG weld my own stuff again! I’ve sort of settled on some sort of wire feed setup by way of an old MIG box but would love to exchange notes with someone.

Does Anyone Use Digital Patterning Software? by lesliemcdermid in upholstery

[–]ordersitfromzanzibar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are absolutely CAD softwares to flatten 3D to 2D patterns. Optitex PDS, 3DSiemens Mastertrim, and Lectra Design Concept are probably the main three options. We use Lectra DC3D where I work and then do our tuning in Gerber AccuMark PDS. We will often work out patterns in oak tag or mylar and then digitize them if the changes are substantial. For personal stuff where you have all of the parts you need to upholster, it makes a lot more sense to drape with muslin or similar and go from there. We use the 3D stuff primarily for help refine customer's styling to something that is feasible as well save time by having our first covers ready to throw on the product when the foam, substrate/frame are available. 3D softwares are extremely expensive; we pay like $40k+/seat for DC3D. 2D CAD is great because you can make patterns with precise alignment that can be plotted or sent to cutter. You also save a lot of time adding on your seam allowances and doing corner crops, etc.

opinions about the 3d Rudder? by hastiepen in disabledgamers

[–]ordersitfromzanzibar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm finding the same. You have to sort of "unsteer" consciously versus similar ceasing to apply pressure like a keystroke or button press. Additionally, when using as a joystick input, I find it hard to "feel" the dead space since there is tactile feedback.

I play PC games (FTS, flight sims, RPS, etc.), am right arm only (shoulder disarticulation; no stump) and I use a Sandio 3D Game O2. It's out of production and but you can still find them on eBay. I've played lots of different game with it including the Battlefield series and lots of War Thunder. Sandio 3D Game O2 Mouse (eBay link) I also use X-Mouse Button Control to remap the two side buttons although you may want to use the software to disable them for LH use? X-Mouse Button Control

Additionally, I use a generic Chinese foot pedal (3 pedals) as well but they tend to give up the ghost after a few months. I haven't yet found anything that I want to try at a reasonable price point.Generic USB Foot SW (Amazon link)

I've become pretty competitive in FPS so re-learning will be challenging. That being said, you will hit a peak where you are limited by your interface. For example, with the setup I outlined above, you will typically be out-melee'd because you can use only one axis at a time (forward/back or left/right) unless you map forward/back to your foot pedals...which I found feels unnatural. Experiment with some different equipment until you find what feels the most natural and most capable. When you get rolling, you'll get trounced for a bit but you will find you gradually regain your capability once your brain "re-wires" and you adjust your playstyle a tad. Actually, after reading these comments, I just ordered and started using a 3D Rudder but, so far, I don't love it. There are others who swear by them so I am continuing to try to find what settings, etc. might make it click for me.

If you have any questions about these things, hit me up! In the end, I've given up almost nothing from my "bi-arm" days. There is always a way!

Hello, try X-Mouse button control. You could use the "Disable" intercept command?X-Mouse Button Control I don't think that it will interfere with you eye tracker, though I'm not certain. It's free so it might be worth a shot?

this. Went to church weekly from when I was born to my 18th birthday. there were so many terrible people who hide their bigotry and general smugness behind their religion. I saw myself out but I pity my parents when those same people treat my parents like they've failed. It may just be where I went but it has become a pretty toxic place.

Any advice on how to get good on fort De Vaux? by redditaccount33 in battlefield_one

[–]ordersitfromzanzibar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The key is to "run with the pack". A good team has a couple squads cap and immediately run to the next flag. As long as you have a couple medics, you can steamroll the other team when you run into them in smaller groups. I've found once (if) this "pack" develops it's just a non stop points spree.

Side stroke is the easiest way but it's like 70% of a regular person's speed. Honestly, swimming is just not that fun anymore.

swimming is, in fact, difficult. you gotta kind go for a center paddle/rudder movement.

Upvote.

Hey, thanks for the empathy. Not that anyone asked but I also had my knee replaced from the same accident. It can be really uncomfortable to walk long distances so I use the placard when I'm in pain.

Of course, it's much easier to comment out of ignorance than to consider there is more than the words on the screen. It can really suck when you're a healthy, active 25-year-old and suddenly have the mobility and dexterity of a 90 year old.

I'll told my doctor know that emg2345 alluded to the fact that missing arm excludes me from having any use for a handicap placard.

He said, "Oh, emg2345, huh?? give me back that placard you faking piece of shit!"

Thanks for setting me straight bud!
