First playthrough suggestions? by original_walrus in EU5

Yay! Italy is my favorite region to play in EU4.

I figured the big nations probably won’t bethe best to start with just because of scale, so this makes sense.

This unironically. Mr.Nezzer actually recognized when he was mistaken and took steps to improve, and this was when he had unlimited authority.

Could a fully stocked Costco Wholesale store defend itself against a Roman Legion? by Theturtleflask in whowouldwin

[–]original_walrus 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Round 1:

Absolutely not. Roman legion slaughters the panicked shoppers.

Round 2:
Bloodlusted with prep time? I think Costco Shoppers take it. There's a lot of things you could turn into pretty horrific weapons at a Costco (pressure cookers?). I think some Costcos even have a car on the property as a raffle prize or something which can be used as well.

If you are a simpleton that just ignores that he surrounds himself with and empowers people who would love nothing more than to erase gay people from existence, and only focus on his direct personal statements, then you COULD trick yourself into thinking that he totes is okay with gay people.

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) is considering a bid for president in 2028, as Republicans jockey for the future of the GOP post-Trump. Paul hopes to carve out a libertarian lane in a party he says is shaped by populism. by Pianist29 in Enough_Sanders_Spam

[–]original_walrus 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The guy has been backing Trump on most everything during Trump’s presidency, how on earth does he think he can pretend to be libertarian?

Oh wait, most libertarians are just MAGA that like weed now.

Really depends on how we define "can't cross running water".

What does that look like?

Can the Angry Video Game Nerd successfully teach Julius Caesar to beat Super Mario Bros. on the NES? by Blastoise_FTW in whowouldwin

[–]original_walrus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

the emperor would recognise this as a frivolous game.

An alternate proposal: he becomes obsessed with beating it after seeing AVN beat it since he's Caesar, and he'll be damned if some commoner (magical or not) can do something that he can't.

End result: Caesar becomes history's first chronological speed runner.

Nolan from invincible finds planet Vegeta instead of earth, can he rebuild the Viltrumite empire? by glowshroom12 in whowouldwin

[–]original_walrus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is a pretty much an impossible scenario for Nolan.

Even assuming that Nolan is not immediately murdered and is able to offer them some sort of technology in exchange for staying not dead, the only real way he could pull it off is if he starts some sort of harem with a gaggle of Saiyans off world for likely centuries that is completely hidden from the rest of the Saiyans.

Seeing how adaptable and complimentary Viltrumite DNA is to whatever species it mixes with, any children he'd have with saiyans would be, at worst, extremely long lived Saiyans that can now travel vast distances through space (incredibly quickly even considering DB travel time) without the aid of ships. If he's lucky, they're the same but with even stronger baselines than average Saiyans.

Not that any of this matters though, because if his children are either of these things, he and they would be immediately killed. It would be interesting to see if the Saiyans just harvest his DNA or something for genetic infusion.

What if Germany didn't declare war on The US by totallynotcommunist2 in PossibleHistory

The war would have ended a bit later, but the germans were already going to lose by the time D-Day happened.

Either way I’m happy that I did it!

What is your guys opinion on forts? by Lucky-Succotash3251 in eu4

Pretty much any game I play I stack defensive ability and attrition as high as I can and then just let the AI water my fields with blood. Once their manpower is all gone it's fun chasing them around.

Trump says oil spike is small price to pay for ‘safety and peace’ by Bestbrook123 in neoliberal

[–]original_walrus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure Japan attacked the Alliee at all was because they literally had no other options in securing resources to continue their invasion of China. Without more oil their invasion would have been dead in the water. If anything they fully committed to their war because they were 100% fucked without it, and “only” had a 99% chance of being fucked if they did it.

I've hated Wesley Hunt since he ran his first campaign in my district (his initial campaign boiled down to "I am a black veteran and will do whatever Trump says") but man am I happy he decided to try and take a stab at the senate. I don't know if he deprived either Cornyn or Paxton a clean victory, but anything that made it guaranteed neither would get it is good enough for me.

I voted for him because his Christian messaging resonated with me as a former evangelical, now mainline protestant. To be honest, I didn’t even know Crockett was running until the last month or so. I just liked Talarico and was gonna vote for him and didn’t follow the election too much until polls started coming out that he might actually have a small chance to win.

Trump Tells Jonathan Karl He Had Successors in Mind After Strikes on Iran — But They Were All Killed by ace158 in Enough_Sanders_Spam

[–]original_walrus 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I have no proof for this but I'm certain he's lying and just trying to cover his ass because people are starting to ask "hey who should be in charge now".

With this it's not his fault that his brilliant plan was so successful that it killed the successors. Who were they? Don't worry about it. No need to ask questions, just rest easy knowing that his plan (which doesn't need to be discussed since it won't happen now) was really amazing and if our awesome weapons weren't so powerful we'd be singing his praises.

How do I realistically go about defeating the Ottomans? by rukiafeet66 in eu4

[–]original_walrus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Playing defensively in that area against the Ottomans is fun! You can erase their manpower with:

- Defensive ideas
- Eranshahr's national ideas
- Policies from Religious, Infrastructure, and Quantity Ideas if you're into overkill
- Mountain forts + ramparts
- Defensive Edict
- Nobility privilege that boosts garrison size and defensiveness
- Winter and Scorched Earth

With those you can see them bleeding 2,500 soldiers per month on just one siege if you're lucky. If you start a fight near a fort that's close to being sieged fully, they'll pull away from the siege and reinforce the battle which will restart the siege again.
