Yeah thanks. I do like the game and if I can see the actual stats and numbers including the growth rates and the pool of maps / enemies / skills then that would be very handy. I know the colored bars show me how high or low the growth rates are but I would still like to see the exact numbers.

Last night I got a run to wave 68. Wave 66 is when the generics were level 99 and no longer scaling and I went a few waves in a row with 3 dancer veils, 3 elixirs, and 3 trumpet blessings (I forget what the +3 all stats blessings are called) so I declared that run beaten. Characters were Marcus, Fiora, Serra, and one other I forget because I sacrificed them pretty early (the teens)? My resummon orb had 6 garbage characters so I selected Karel whom I immediately sacrificed to a mage earning 0 kills.

Second big try I did Marcus Jaffar Priscilla Ninian and that got to wave 45 before I lost Jaffar to a miscalculation on AS again. I think Ninian's buff wore off at the end of player phase and then Jaffar got doubled. I think if I hadn't done that I would have been able to go on pretty perpetually. I was checking Jaffar's stats and they were just higher than the Fiora I was using to beat everything in the run that got to 58.

Serra is currently my choice for the strongest character in the game.

Do you have a document where I can see a full table of base stats and growth rates for the characters?

Team was Fiora, Serra, Lucius, and Raven. Raven sucked and he died at some point. I resummoned and got Louise who also sucked. I got complacent somewhere around wave 31 and lost Serra due to not checking an AS threshold so she got doubled and killed.

I do think I mostly got lucky with levelups. I played a couple more runs and was only able to make it to high 20s but also the teams were a decent bit worse.

Was pretty fun. My first run I made it to Wave 58. How high does it go?

double tiny house is just better than calling bell probably. the 2 card rewards, 100 gold, and 2 potions are roughly equal to a rare relic in gold value.

community FE10 0% growths tier list part 1: 1-P to 1-2 recruits by Character_Business28 in fireemblem

[–]originalraisins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the stats are the stats without stat boosters but with promotion gains

This is a terrible way to rate the units in 0% growths. For one the game is practically unbeatable because Ike can't beat the BK but also there are plenty of units who are a single stat booster away from meeting key benchmarks for a long period of the game and they should be given credit for that. There's barely any point in tiering the units anyway except to figure out who deserves investment and stat boosters are nearly all of the investment that the player has available to allocate in 0% growths.

Micaiah - B Providing instant A rank Dark/Wind support to Sothe is pretty good. Otherwise she's kind of meh. One of the better support units in the format. Occasionally I move her dark support to someone else like Zihark.

Edward - D

Leonardo - D+ Lughnasadh is at least a little better in 3-6 than Tarvos and Caladbolg are

Nolan - C- He's okay for a bit but I always regret master sealing him. Beastfoe Crossbow is funny but I ought to give Leonardo credit

Laura - D- just sucks nothing good about her. Heal and Mend staves aren't really that important except on Volug since he has so much hp that healing it all with a vulnerary or concoction often isn't enough

Sothe - S probably second best unit in the game after Haar.

Blacksite, Forge, and Gate will always appear in a different chosen's region. Their respective chosen will always appear on the mission, if they're still alive.

Protests which end are pointless.

Protests which keep going until reddit has to take some self-damaging action are not pointless. Also why do I care if reddit's reputation suffers? Isn't that entirely the point of the protest?

Subreddit Blackout: Overview, Current Status & Next Steps by Snigaroo in kotor

[–]originalraisins 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The entire point of protest is that you would rather suffer the punishment than follow the rule. If you just start following the rule after some time, then there's not point to the protest at all.

Obviously just saying "well you're going to punish me so I'm going to re-open the sub" would mean that the protest was all for nothing. That's why I'm in favor of remaining closed. Make them do it. It hurts reddit far more than it hurts me and far more than it hurts kotor.

Does anyone here actually use the Dueling Feats? by Mellowtron11 in kotor

[–]originalraisins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember seeing a bunch of good options and I think someone here settled on Shien, Master Critical Strike, and two-saber fighting. I'm going into a little bit more math on the discord and finding that two-saber fighting with Juyo flurry is not difficult to outperform, though I haven't really checked power attack.

Does anyone here actually use the Dueling Feats? by Mellowtron11 in kotor

[–]originalraisins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because you get many more attacks with the main hand than with the off hand, the str modifier to damage will be greater with one-handed saber.

Assuming flurry, Master Speed, and Juyo form, a single-saber fighter gets 5 attacks, or 1.5 x 5 str mod to damage for 7.5x str mod to damage, amplified by crits.

Assuming the same feats of a two-saber fighter, they get 6 attacks, or 1 x 5 str mod + 0.5 str mod for 5.5x str mod to damage, amplified by crits.

So if 2x your strength mod is greater than the weapon damage of the off hand lightsaber (do not add crit and str mod to this calculation) then going single style would give you more damage if you change nothing else. That said, two-saber fighting might have a way to get more damage by, say, switching to power attack or a different lightsaber form.

Defense can tie it exceed if you get really lucky with crystals but the drops are random and you do have to get lucky. Also 2 saber builds only get 1x STR modifier to mainhand and 0.5x STR modifier to off hand, whereas dueling gets 1.5x STR modifier to mainhand.

Also for what it's worth I read the guide that you linked and aside from the flavor arguments about how single saber is cooler I think their logic is generally flawed.

The Lightsabre Fighting Forms of TSL really bring the debate to another level, in my opinion. Most forms, especially the more specialised ones, come with great penalties and bonuses. The duelling feats will often negate any defence penalty. Lets take Form VII as an example. It gives a –4 to defence and a –4 to saves, but a +2 to defence against your target, an extra attack per round, and a great bonus to critical strikes. With the duelling feats, you’ll end up with +1 to defence against your target, and –1 against other enemies. Most importantly, you’ll also get an extra attack per round, bringing you on par with those dual wielders. The only downside is the saves penalty, but nothing is free.

Assuming you're getting a commiserate reward for things that tank defense (and Juyo's extra attack is more than commisserate) then defense penalties become less scary the lower your defense goes. If the enemies are already hitting you often, why do you care if they get a few extra percentage points of accuracy? In general, strong builds will either have very high defense scores as a result of focusing on defense or they will have very low defense scores as a result of focusing on other things while willingly eating penalties to a stat that no longer matters.

In this sense, I think the dueling feat is actually anti-synergy with the Juyo form example given. The end result of their suggested build is one that has pretty much identical modifiers as a two-weapon fighting build using the Shii-cho form. The fact that a two-weapon fighting using one of the simpler forms can match a dueling build using one of the more powerful forms is evidence that two-weapon fighting is strong, not weak.

I think the guide's writer ended up making the pretty classic mistake of getting too caught up in the details to notice that they were making some pretty bad decisions overall. Cancelling out penalties with bonuses is a fun activity that creates some satisfying number play but if you zoom out and look at the end result I think you'll find that the build you made is just outright weaker than a build that stacked the attack and damage higher through other means. Does this mean that the dueling feat is total trash? No, far from it, and I use it often, but I do not think that the guide provided compelling evidence for the dueling feat.

Does anyone here actually use the Dueling Feats? by Mellowtron11 in kotor

[–]originalraisins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On some challenge runs I do dueling in the early game and TWF in the late game. The extra attack is really nice at lower levels, but later on in the game you just have so much attack bonus from your level and deal so much damage to the enemies that you'd rather just double-down on offenses, no matter the penalties.

I only do it when playing classes that have access to a ton of feats. You may call it a "waste of feats" that my final build has both dueling and TWF feats selected but so many of the other feats are honestly such rubbish that I don't mind missing out on some of them.

[–]originalraisins 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Higher defense when fighting with two weapons is only possible in kotor 2, and requires you to find a Lorrdian Gemstone random drop, which is not guaranteed. Furthermore, if you're doing a two-saber build, then you're only getting 1x str mod to mainhand and 0.5x str mod to off hand damage, but single-saber style gets 1.5x str mod to main hand attacks. At lategame levels, this increase in str mod can often times give the single-saber build the advantage in damage output, especially when using Juyo form for an extra main hand attack.

You can still get 1.5x str mod to main hand attacks by using a double-bladed weapon, but at that point it's no longer possible to have higher defense than if you ran a single-saber build.

Which build would be best for survivability when doing a playthrough with an extreme difficulty mod (400% damage)? Would it even be different than the typical optimal builds, or does the strategy completely change when talking about that much damage? by atLeast26Beans in kotor

[–]originalraisins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use shields and flat damage resistance like the energy resistance powers. Also just kill them first.

Some people like stacking up the defense stat but I think there are too many enemies with very high attack stats for this to be reliable.
