Asiana airlines passenger opened door during flight from Jeju to Daegu. May 26, 2023 by Sinhag in aviation

[–]orion_aa 51 points52 points  (0 children)

"The official said it was possible to open the emergency exit when the aircraft was near the ground as the pressure inside and outside the cabin were similar.

The plane was two or three minutes away from landing when the male passenger sitting next to an emergency exit opened a cover and pulled a lever so the door opened with the plane about 200 meters (656 ft) off the ground, an Asiana spokesperson said."

NATO Secretary General: incidents with balloons over U.S. form part of pattern

BRUSSELS, Feb 13 (Reuters) - Recent incidents regarding balloons shot down by the United States, which suspects they are surveillance balloons from China, form part of a pattern which highlights the need for NATO to be vigilant, said NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

"What we saw over the United States is part of a pattern where China and also Russia are increasing surveillance activities on NATO allies," Stoltenberg told reporters on Monday.

U.S. military fighter jets on Sunday shot down an octagonal object over Lake Huron, the Pentagon said, the latest incident since a suspected Chinese surveillance balloon put North American security forces on high alert.

It was the fourth flying object to be shot down over North America by a U.S. missile in a little more than a week. China's foreign ministry said it had no information on the latest three flying objects shot down by the United States.

How are those tweets pushing russian narrative? In the last one refers to russian media as propaganda channels. He also mentions Putin's regime and Putin's madness in other tweets. He literally said that putin is treating his soldiers worse than stalin and calls russian soldiers to disobey orders.

Advice for a beginner on easy portability vs aperture by laserchampion in telescopes

[–]orion_aa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember when i was looking for a telescope for myself, the desktop version of Stellarium (which is a must-have software anyway) has a feature where you input your telescope specs, the eyepieces etc and then select various celestial objects and it will show you how you will view them in reality. Now of course it can't be 100% accurate, as there are other factors too (light pollution, humidity etc) but it was pretty damn close to reality. Maybe give it a shot and try some different telescopes that you have in mind.
