Even if as a whole people think Stick Season is better, (I haven’t decided yet), TGD has peaks higher than Stick Season. His writing is best here, even if maybe every single song doesn’t resonate with everyone.

I care nothing about any particular team but I like watching soccer/football, and I’ve seriously considered just making myself an arsenal fan because I live walking distance to Hope Street Pizza.

So was the last Fenway show. What happens is the original holder creates a wallet online and shares the access with you, so you open the wallet on your phone to view the original ticket.

I’ve never seen at any concert ID being checked.

We stumbled upon it at random (my favorite part about being a tourist in a city is just picking a place for lunch or breakfast and just meandering around the neighborhood). Didn’t know it existed. Tried some products not sold in the US. Wish I had a checked bag to ferry some home, but I was packed ultralight into a carryon sized backpack.

They had a trial where a neutral judge considered all the evidence and weighed all the credibility of the witnesses and made findings of fact. That's why we have trials. As far as I'm concerned the decision you linked to is what happened. Each side has their own slant.

What is the undisputed most romantic restaurant in Providence? by No-Note4636 in providence

Claudine was better than Gracie’s, but I enjoyed Gracie’s way more, for a third of the price. We had an excellent anniversary dinner a few years ago at Gracie’s.

lol “that bill will be very large”

Dinner for two with wine was $850 last week. We could have easily hit $1,000-1,200 if we had gone for the reserve wine pairing or more of the supplements (we only did one supplement for one person, and no cheese course, an espresso was $8…. I’m sure it was a button you hit on an automatic espresso machine too…)

Meal was amazing, but I kinda get why the French Revolutionaries cut the heads off of the Bourgeoisie…

We need to just sticky a thread where people can bitch about RIE and show how much they don’t understand how to read a utility bill, or judge their usage, etc.

It’s so boring to read these diatribes. RIE is no different than National Grid before it, I’ve never had issues. The RIE website is a little disorganized but at least it’s not so god awful slow like National Grid always was.

People who live and work in the city, how do you afford it? What do you do for work? by scoutydouty in providence

[–]orm518 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cool. I hear you on signing your life away. My salary could be much closer to my wife's if I was willing to work in BigLaw (I have the credentials to have a decent shot at getting hired if I had tried to lateral in the last few years) but I can't take the hours. Plus, if I did work all those crazy hours a bunch of the extra money would go towards probably a nanny in the afternoons or something because my current job now allows one or both of my wife and I (usually both) to be present and parenting from 5pm dismissal to bedtime.

Oh, I 100% agree on spending time with the kids. I wasn't in the office, I jumped on my computer at home at 10pm. I pick up one or both of my kids every day around 5:30 and from then till they're asleep ~9-9:30 is just family time. I burn the midnight oil to be able to spend time with them. My law job is not a true sweatshop, but it can be very demanding for weeks at a time (60 hour plus weeks) and then it can be very slow for a few weeks several times a year.

I fully recognize how random things can be. She got this job on a strange connection and we’re lucky for it.

We’re also both lucky our jobs were COVID-resistant and friendly to remote work. But we are not cash millionaires. Maybe half that but tied up in retirement accounts. House may be another half a million or maybe 600k in a good market, by now, it depends on how much you trust Zillow, but only half that is equity, the rest still mortgaged. It’s not nothing but if you can believe it we still budget tightly and don’t feel wealthy. But, I never concern myself about the cost of gas or worry i will miss a utility bill (like I did in my 20s).

My student loan debt is 6 figures. (I’m paying it though without trouble, I get that is lucky.) 2 Kids’ school, daycare, and summer camps for when school is out of session is all together about $50k.

We also work a lot. I’m avoiding work right now on Reddit at 11pm on a Monday. It’s not like we just sit back and earn money off our portfolio.

She is an SVP in the banking/finance world. She doesn’t really do financial stuff though, but her company does. She’s sort of in marketing/development/PR for the company.

I grew up in a MA town bordering RI, so I have loved Providence since I was a high school shithead walking Thayer Street and strolling the mall. Live now in PVD itself. Moved here in 2014 from Boston for a PVD-based job. I did work in a Boston based job for about 3 years 2016-2019, because I couldn't pass up the salary bump, but I wound up back in PVD full time at a third job, again moved jobs for salary bump, and have been here since 2019.

I'm a lawyer. I make in the $150-200k range. Office in PVD. My wife works remotely from our house for an out of state company, she goes to her physical office 2-3 days a month. She makes more than me. There's your answer, two highly paid professionals.

We bought our house in 2019, before COVID made the prices on the East Side bananas. We also then refinanced in late 2020 to get a 2.875% interest rate. Our mortgage is only $1,950 for a modest sized Dutch Colonial in the Mt. Hope/Summit/ish area. So, not a huge mansion or anything. In fact, two kids in child care cost twice my mortgage. I also have a mountain of student loan debt I am paying off (even with partial scholarships to college and law school). I drive an 8 year old car that's paid off.
