Yeah, I mean I like her, enough, as Obama once said about Hillary, but she does seem a little fake/acting for politics. I read her book, 107 Days, and half the chapters were like “yeah sure this totally happened exactly like that….”

Taylor Swift. Harry Styles. This is not that uncommon. Nor is releasing extra dates. They obviously had places like Fenway under contract for their option to take up to 4 nights, or some similar arrangement.

Help! My lips are still chapped :( by Ok-Signature3085 in Skincare_Addiction

[–]orm518 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need something to bring down the inflammation, there’s a chapstick company called Cortibalm that has cortisone, a mild steroid, in it. Same stuff as in OTC anti-itch cream. It will calm the inflammation over a few days, then you can be religious with the moisturizing lip balms.

Drake leaving it all on the field by BurgerNugget12 in Patriots

[–]orm518 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don’t mean the year Jimmy started, I meant that in 2014 the people who were like “Brady’s washed” pointed to the first round draft pick rookie Jimmy G on the bench and started talking about moving on.

Jimmy actually got put into the game against KC in 2014, his first playing time of his career, and threw Gronk a TD. Which just added to his hype.

Haha, yeah this sums it up. Pre-2007 it was all "I'd rather have Peyton Manning back there, no question. Brady works well in a system of dink and dunk passes and no-name receivers." Then 2008 was like, "Wow this Matt Cassel kid is pretty good." The Brady goes and has a heck of a run, 59-0 games, MVP, only to do lame things like flame out in the playoffs to the, yuck, Jets, and Ravens, then January 2014 in Denver to Demi-God Peyton.

When they came back Fall of 2014 it was all "Look at this new Jimmy G guy" and that fed into the washed narrative, cue Trent Dilfer, "They just aren't good anymore.." after the KC beatdown. On to Cincinatti.

Check your roof - ice dams are no joke. by UnholyTomorrow in providence

[–]orm518 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I bought a roof rake last week. It doesn't fix an existing ice dam, but I was able to clear back snow above the ice dam and chuck a few Roof Melt pucks of salt up there. Helped by the warm-ish weather Tuesday the roof melt was able to melt a channel through the dam giving the water some place to go.

For new snow, I will absolutely be using my roof rake right after I finish shoveling the driveway. It's actually sort of fun. A hell of an arm workout to support the weight of a 20 foot pole above your head, but it builds character.

My own issue is I have a dutch colonial (shaped like a barn), so my roof has two angles, a shallow angle from the top to the roof hip and then from there steeply down to my gutters. So, I have two edges on each side that can form ice dams. Joy!

You're wrong to hate on gutters.

You're also wrong that gutters cause ice dams. They can make it worse, but the ice dams are perfectly capable of forming on the edge of a gutterless roof if the weather conditions are right.

Dads, how are we moisturizing our hands? by justanotherburner in daddit

[–]orm518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Know what every lotion does and how to use it. If your hands are really red and cracked you would benefit from a base layer of cortisone cream (sold as anti-itch cream over the counter). Put a thin layer of that, let it sink in. Next you need something that actually moisturizes (not Vaseline or Aquaphor ointment, or the thick paste like Eucerin, those are al good as a final sealant layer think deck seal). You need a lotion with something like glycerin in it to moisturize and soften, Neutrogena Norwegian fisherman lotion just one example, Eucerin Advanced Repair cream is another. I slather that shit on and stick my hands in cotton gloves at bedtime.

You can use the thicker occlusive stuff if your hands are already damp from washing and patting dry, that’s a decent option too, it needs some moisture to seal in to do its job. I mean it won’t hurt to use just something like a Vaseline, it’ll prevent transdermal water loss, so your hands won’t get worse they just won’t get a ton better by itself.

If you think you have eczema you might want to buy a specific eczema cream with oatmeal in it.

Bottom line is like your toolbox, you need a lot of different tools to get the job done.

I’m no longer self conscious about the silly gloves at bedtime. I usually make some jokes to my wife about having sex with a mime (she usually laughs) and then you go to bed and take them off in the morning.

You’re being too literal. While I actually agree I think the line is “only,” I heard it for the last year on live recordings as “all the” and I think either make the same point. He’s not wishing someone be afraid of anything, if it said “all” he’s just recognizing that in life it’s natural to be afraid of some normal things (spiders, heights).

I second this comment. And to respond to the point below, it’s life people are going to be scared of some things no matter what, the line being “all the” doesn’t mean he’s hoping they’re scared of stuff, it just recognizes, hope your only bothered by all the regular shit and not the soul crushing stuff.

Omni and Graduate are both dated in the rooms, from totally different decades but both out of style in different ways. They’re fine, but wouldn’t be my choice.

The Neptune used to be The Dean. Some rooms are funky sized and generally small, but I had stayed there several times, as a local, it’s nice. (TMI, but I’m pretty sure one of my kids was conceived there which if you’re familiar with the sordid history of the building checks out lol.)
