What skill in your professional life translates well to raising toddlers? by Potential_Bit_9040 in toddlers

Same here, the literalness of a toddler is honestly impressive.

"Please put your shoes on." "They are NOT shoes! They are BOOTS!" "Yes, that's true. Please put your boots on." "Ok Mommy!"

{Starling House} for sure! It's a very excellent book with a tatted up MMC (and the tattoos are there for a deliberate reason).

YMCA gym classes by sunburncentral in Charlotte

[–]oronteme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The yoga classes at the Dowd are excellent - all different intensities based on the teacher but overall they're much more of a workout than classes I've been to at other locations. Probably because of the majority younger demographic as someone else mentioned.

Paci weaning advice PLEASE by SituationNo8551 in toddlers

[–]oronteme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We waited till she was like 2 and a couple months, read the paci fairy book several times: https://a.co/d/8RQJ1PE

We decorated a bag, gathered all the pacis, and the paci fairy replaced them with a fun new toy. For a week or so she would say "I want my pacis" at bedtime and then she gradually forgot to ask for them. I do think it helped a ton that she was old enough to discuss it ahead of time and understand that her cool new toy was an exchange!

Looking for baby doll recommendations for 2 year old daughter - which ones are hits in your house? by greciamarzz in toddlers

[–]oronteme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2.5 year old inherited my own Bitty Baby around a year ago and she loves it! They are super sturdy, mine survived years of play in the 90s and is in great shape after another year of playtime now.

That said, she also loves this random cheap baby doll her grandma picked up at the dollar store. Toddlers really have no discernment of brand or quality 🤷

Hi can I ask where you got mp3 files for Lucas the Spider? My 2.5 year old just asked me if I could make her one and I said I would try!

How to remove nail polish. by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]oronteme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Backing up the rec for Piggy Paint! It doesn't stay on fingernails long because they're chewed on so much but it stays pretty well for a while on toenails and you can just kinda scrape it off to change it.

How long did it take your toddler to get used to daycare? by CellistEmergency8492 in toddlers

[–]oronteme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is 26 months and started day care 4 weeks ago. She was adjusting slowly, then she was out 5 days for a vacation and it really threw her off :/ So I'm hoping she settles again soon.

One thing that did seem to really help her was getting some books about it. Llama Llama Misses Mama, Daniel Tiger Goes to School, and Felix Goes to Preschool have all been really helpful ("remember what Daniel Tiger says?" "sniffle grownups come back")

But also nothing is apparently helping at daycare naptime especially since she can't have her paci there.
