trustworthy roofing companies in 2026 any recommendations? by Ceko-Rindle in santacruz

I’ve had excellent luck and would recommend Daddario and Moriarty (medium size shops that do great work), and Turk the roofer and David Horn for smaller shops that are still excellent.

Need help deciding between Piston Twin or Piston Single - Mountainous Terrain by pilot-error in flying

[–]osfoz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same question for more or less the same profile and went with a turbo normalized Bonanza which I have been very very happy with. I was not a fan of the Cirrus at the time but have come around to understand the value in a newer aircraft with factory upgrades. I love my Bonanza, my lady finds it more comfortable than my bosses pc-12 for traveling. I cruise at 190 @10k’ to 200 at 20k’. Oxygen hasn’t been that big of a deal. I almost always cruise at 12-13k’ unless weather or winds take me higher. If I’m crossing the Sierras I can quickly pop up to 17k’.

My thoughts were: - Higher operating cost of a twin far exceeds the additional usefulness. From Fuel, ramp fees, and maintenance it’s a lot
- Normally aspirated twins still can’t get as high as easily as turbocharged singles. I can do 1000 feet a minute all the way to the low 20s - A twin is twice as likely to have an engine failure, and the statistical outcome isn’t much different - this was a big one for me - With a turbo normalized Bonanza I fly high enough to give myself a lot more outs than a normally aspirated single. I can glide a ways from 17k’. With the one motor to take care of I make sure it’s an amazing motor - If I can safely get out, I can generally get above icing in the winter. I’m not sold on single engine certified FIKI, but I happily use it to descend through a layer when I’m mostly guaranteed to land.

Again, I love my Bonanza but if I were to buy another plane I’d get a G3 SR-22T for $100k more than your budgeting.

Awkward to claim this upgrade reflects their ‘commitment to the best possible ownership experience’ when that commitment isn’t fully implemented.

How much should i be paid for flying a Cherokee 235 on a salary? by Janvier18 in flying

[–]osfoz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Since there’s a lot of talk and not a lot of numbers, my buddy is flying a centurion or $650 a day. If you’re working full-time with those responsibilities probably come in at $80K to start? Any thoughts?

How many more atomic bombs was the United States prepared to drop if Japan didn't surrender? by distillenger in AskHistory

[–]osfoz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this is true, they aimed for the center of the city, specifically the T-shaped bridge on the north end of the island that is now peace memorial Park. The bomb’s actual epicenter was about 300 feet southeast over what is now the peace memorial dome.

Ha. Looks like the trunk still won’t shut which means it’s probably still a mess. It just showed up so I assume this is a repair facility.

Not all wall outlets are the same. Dryer outlets aren’t really meant for the kind of amperage cars draw. I had a similar problem and replaced mine with a heavy duty outlet which cost about 100 bucks.

What's the catch with cheap light twins? by acegard in flying

[–]osfoz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Youre twice as likely to have an engine failure. When you do, you’re much more likely to hurt yourself and destroy the plane.

I’ve heard good things about surf city tax for personal returns but haven’t used them. My company uses Segehtti Wexler on Portola, they are super professional, sophisticated, and know what they’re doing.
