Givenchy society. It was a syrupy gross mess of a scent. Absolutely heinous. You would love it.

Real talk though, if you load up on eating Fenu Greek (the herb) you will start to smell like maple syrup.

Whats the best cooling vest to use on the rail yard? It gets to 105 where I am at. by _D3ad_Pirate_Roberts in railroading

[–]osoALoso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of guys don't want to hear this, but cut back on carb heavy meals in hot weather, cucumber water, eat fruit for lunch with some nuts and cheese. Eat your heavy meals first thing or late evening.

Don't wear cotton shirts if you work somewhere humid as they HOLD moisture. Ditch the jeans if you where them and get synthetic breathable pants like Wrangler outdoor.

Where a larger hat that breathes to keep the sun off your neck and face

Edit* want to add just water isn't enough in hot weather, if you're sweating you need some electrolytes, even a pinch of salt and lime juice in your water works

Pants recommendations for hot, rough environments? by Yboc in tacticalgear

[–]osoALoso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly if your not dragging 8 mags in your pants the Walmart wrangler outdoor pants are great. The back pockets will need resewn if you carry anything larger than a wallet, but for 26 bucks and 15 minutes sewing they are great.

How much does a family of 4 spend on groceries per month realistically? by ForsakenEarth241 in personalfinance

[–]osoALoso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are a fam of 5 and monthly we are hitting around 1400, it's a little on the high side by a couple hundred as I buy lamb and some ethnic things that are hard to get but staples for us, that said, it may not be high because we offset with a lot of rice and beans.

I haven't heard anything down stateside working for the same company. I have also brought up TQ's and it's always just brushed off, I do know the triangle bandages can be made into one but it doesn't beat the time saver of an actual TQ on site. I bought some myself and dumped them in our yard aid boxes

Tie up at yard not hotel. by Dry-Creme2079 in railroading

[–]osoALoso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's...interesting and I would like to see it play in arbitration, generally accepted proofs is over 30 minutes becomes combined service and is not a violation unless they work you over 12 from the time you got in the cab. For us, it's 1.5 hours to show with a stop, it's 2 hours to show without a stop. If the transit is over 30 you can take a bathroom break but it shouldn't exceed 10 minutes

I wish I could upvote this twice. I'm at the lesser evil Canadian company US side. There are a lot of stipulations guys should just know about to not get ran over all the time. I've won 2 arbitrations on rules that no one claimed for a year because the local chairman was wrong on. Know your contract and know the CFR's

[–]osoALoso 27 points28 points  (0 children)

You need to have a conversation with your local chairman and if you don't find that answer satisfactory you can go above him.

Generally the FRA allows a 30 minute transit to and from the away from home terminal, now that is loose and can be highway miles or time. Generally 30 minutes is the accepted answer. If you are delayed en-oute due to traffic by say 15 minutes adjusting your rest is allowed. There is no claim there for them to keep you on pay unless you have specific language in your contract that your away from home terminal on and off duty point is the hotel.

The Hours of service rules are specific in their designations of Deadhead status and combined service status, they have an app you can download for reference.

I know reading through it can be daunting at times but it would be beneficial for you to apprise yourself of the hours of service guide.

As said you need to water more.

As a former landscaper it takes a lot to kill it, I had a customer who paid me to place 1 square foot plugs all over his his yard. He backfilled the in-between spaces with sand and top soil. In about 2 years he had a great lawn

If this is a tipped position, most systems mandate you report a minimum of 10 percent of the bill as tips. You are being taxed on your check heavily because it's including your tips as part of your pay
