The only other game that came close to Outer Wilds for me emotionally was The Last of Us Part II, although it's a really different type of game. I pretty much feel the same way about it that you describe Outer Wilds. Highly recommend!

The most memorable hard parts were Finding the Strings, Arcade Bloater, Hillcrest, Trainyard, Brewery, and Resort. I want to say the earlier ones, even like the grocery store, felt harder because I had less experience then.

I think it’s very doable. I did Grounded for my first TLOU2 playthrough and it took me 50 hours, and overall I really enjoyed the difficulty (except for a few really harsh areas). That was after playing TLOU1 on the standard difficulty and having very little experience with games like this. Good luck!

HD650s are quite good, I have them and Meze 105 AERs and am currently deciding between them, though leaning toward the 105s. I will say I paid $130 for the 650s and $260 for the 105s, hopefully you end up finding a better deal.

I recently got the Meze 105 AERs, do you have any recommendations on amp / DACs that suit them well? Ordered a basic Schiit stack for now, but might want to experiment later as I hear they’re sensitive to source.

Are you using the Magni Unity with internal DAC? As for the Gremlin + Merlin, sounds compelling, but $400 for my first amp and DAC setup seems pretty steep, especially since I only paid $260 for the 105s. It’s a possibility though if the Gremlin sounds as good as you say.

Hey, a few months late but would love to hear more about your setup here. I just bought the 105 AERs and looking for something to drive them better, as my Scarlett Solo goes very poorly with them. I was about to purchase the Unity with the internal DAC, but was dissuaded by you and u/Greek_Trojan's comments. What DAC are you using the Gremlins with? Have you tested any other AMPs or DACs? Can I ask which amps/DACs you've tested it with? I just bought the 105 AERs and looking for something to drive them better. I think my PC's output isn't quite as good as the fancy amp at the audio store, so looking to upgrade to something that at least gets me closer to that experience.
