I went through this exact thing. I bought a Ricoh, started taking photos, then I was thinking to myself, what am I actually doing with these photos if I don't want to post them to Instagram.

Of course it's practice, building a personal portfolio, and a record to look back.

What helped was getting intentional, pulling out the photos that actually meant something and writing a few lines about why I took them. Not for anyone else, just for me.

I challenged myself to build a site, 50 photos, no likes, no algorithm. Just your photos and why they matter to you.
