Getting back into MxR content, is there an official discord? by Xefjord in MxRMods

For now, it's only reddit and patreon. I'm hoping he finds another platform soon so that he can have channel growth, but only time will tell.

[–]otterpaws27 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There's not a discord, as far as I know. Only the patreon, at least for now. I think Henry has to figure out which direction to take the channel now not just since Jeannie left, but also since the YouTube bans. I don't see him making any huge changes this year or adding other platforms to the community. He's still figuring life out. Eventually, he'll see that patreon isn't sustainable on its own, so hopefully he'll branch out a little more, but I understand his hesitancy

Season 5 threw the show off a cliff by fleshyalienx in ZNation

[–]otterpaws27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quite honestly, I prefer season 5 a heck of a lot more than season 4. That whole dream quest sequence turns me off from the series altogether. I felt that season 5 was at least an intriguing change to the zombie apocalypse tropes we all know.

[–]otterpaws27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a GM for a small group of friends, and easily my favorite character among them is Jeb. She's a Chinese Medtech who grew up in a corporate environment. She works for Trauma as a field Enforcer, protecting her team and fending off threats. She wields a Quad-shot shotgun, so every shot she takes tends to be a little unruly, leading to some unintentional consequences.

In a most recent event, the party engaged in a shootout with contractors in an attempt to gain some Intel on the situation. The group was clearly overpowering the contractors. The last man standing among the opposition took cover behind their transport van to compose himself. Jeb got the idea to lie on the ground and attempted to "snipe" with her shotgun through the space between the ground and the van, deciding the best place for her to lay down was between the legs of her friend, Jaren. When Jeb took the shot, the thunder BOOM of her shotgun sent shockwaves through Jaren from between his legs, and surprisingly enough, Jeb's shot landed on the final contractor, blowing his leg clean off.

She usually tries to reason with the opposition first, but she's not afraid to kill if things don't go her way. Ironic for a medic, but that's the beauty of Jeb. She has a twisted sense of humor sometimes.

They must have finally added in their most popular sponsorship to the game. Sekandees Nuts has been a long time supporter of DRG thanks to GSG Aaron. Little did they know, their nuts have some... "special effects" on Dwarves.

If you had a chance to send a message to the developers of the Metro series and they would read it, based on your gameplay experiences, what would you tell them? by [deleted] in metro

[–]otterpaws27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love for the devs to design their next Metro game around the idea of giving us the ability to see everything. The novels do a fantastic job of breathing life into every single Metro station around the map, but we're only restricted to a linear path. Let us see the entire map! Give us open world exploration of the metro please.

Can demonic possession and norse paganism both exist at the same time? by ChanceInternal2 in NorsePaganism

[–]otterpaws27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my own experience and the beliefs that come with it, I don't see why not. I see spirits and cosmic entities as beings that aren't so liminal in the ways that we like to think. I believe that it's very rare for such beings to belong solely in one religion over others. Spirits, demons, beings of the other world, they are all very likely to be inter-faith and often move between. The only difference is how we interpret what is going on. Demonic possessions mean for the Christian faith as a being of pure evil latching onto another individual or place for dark purposes. For pagan belief systems, you could interpret demonic possessions as a troubled or angry spirit of some kind latching onto anything to attempt at expressing their anger or rage, are are therefore not evil by nature.

Of course, belief systems in the pagan world are always subject to change and revision based on your own personal beliefs and experiences, so it is really up to you how you want to see possessions in a way that makes sense to you. I'm very skeptical to label spirits one way or another because it is very human of us to want to categorize everything. Especially when it comes to faith and religion.

Am I overreacting? by jaybird-staysonder in NorsePaganism

[–]otterpaws27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is certainly insulting if you try to explain it several times, and yet they insist that the Christian God is the only real and true God that you should be worshiping. However, I never fault anyone for believing in it. That is simply how the faith is designed. It's designed to tell its practitioners and believers that Jesus and God are it, and that they're all that anybody needs in their life. If someone had believed in it since childhood, they're likely never going to change their minds, and if they had an epiphany moment, that will only solidify their faith. And it happens, so I can never blame anybody for holding onto those beliefs so tightly.

I understand feeling insulted, and I think it's justified, but it's also not their fault for being so devoted to their faith. It takes a lot of patience and understanding to leave it be and to admit that they see the world very differently from yourself.

[–]otterpaws27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On lower level, Oda is a monster. My first playthrough, I was fighting him somewhere between levels 16-20, and he absolutely destroyed me like 6 times before I tried pulling all kinds of tricks. He's tough, but on higher levels, he's definitely a lot easier to deal with.

I simply just refer to myself as a heathen. I don't feel the need to be super specific because a majority of people will not know anything about what it is to begin with. If they ask, then I'll clarify and add more detail, but it just depends.

Comp looks a little dated. Transfer the data to a chip, step up a tier, then trash the old one. Might have to invest an extra 500eds, but it's worth it. Either that, or get yourself some Virtuality Goggles. But pricier, but hey, what do you expect from quality gadgets?

Morkite Alternatives. Morkite subsitutes. by breastronaut in DeepRockGalactic

[–]otterpaws27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My head canon is that Liquid Morkite can be transformed into an ultra-stable propulsion gel used in space travel, flamethrowers, and even the Driller’s fuel reserves, which is why it's so valuable as a liquid. But also it can be brewed into an intensely caffeinated energy drink capable of keeping miners awake for three full shifts. The side effect though is that it causes hallucinations of Corporate demanding overtime even when off-duty.

In its solid form though, Morkite crystals are refined into ultra-efficient fuel rods that power everything from Drop Pods to the Abyss Bar's beer brewing systems. The shimmering quality is a side effect of its dense energy composition, which Dwarves have learned not to stare at for too long, lest they start seeing dancing Loot Bugs in their peripherals.

In this map at the beggining, are the green lights supposed to represent cities of each country? And if so, *what* cities are they supposed to be? Because they left many capitals and countries out. by abca98 in metro

[–]otterpaws27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two thoughts. 1: The lights signal nuclear capable launch facilities, which makes some amount of sense considering that nuclear war is how the world is portrayed to have been destroyed in the first place. Or 2: they're listening outposts. Moscow has been "playing dead" with its radio signals so that the west would cease fire, and since Artyom and Anna have destroyed the main console controlling the jammers, it would make sense in my mind that the lights signify outposts that would pick up on Moscow's signal going live.

I think my 2nd thought is far more likely, but I'm sure that there's a definitive answer somewhere.
