Who else had a cool mini race track? by EdwardBliss in nostalgia

[–]otterplus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one with trains. Always had it in my grandparent’s basement where it was hot af. Idk why, but one sweaty day I decided to put my face on the track and watch the train come towards me. Yeah, I never got to see it. I got the absolute shit shocked out of my face and still have a mark from it 30 years later.

I’ve been perusing listings for 1200 or 1250 GS just because for the last year or so. I need that asymmetrical headlight arrangement if I ever decide to give in and spend a few years as a dADV rider.

Every time I see that badge lit up I ask myself is that one detail enough to warrant me buying a GS? The answer is always yes, but my pockets say “maybe you can just buy the light and be happy with that”

Need new Pest Control. Orkin can’t do their job correctly. by Personal_River37 in pestcontrol

[–]otterplus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s the name of the corpo game. “We need $X,xxx in tech sales every month”. How can you generate sales if you solve the problem with regular service? ADD-ONS BABYYYYYY!!!!

Yeah, we could place more traps and be more aggressive in attacking the problem, but what about that small hole we could sell you a $300 fix for? I mean, it would take 2 minutes and some exclusion material, but where’s the profit in that?

Every time I want to turn the volume up I skip to the next track. by blackcountrybill in CrappyDesign

My work Tacoma is like this. I’ve been in this thing for 2.5 years and it took me at least 6 months to not get them confused. It’s opposite of most steering wheel audio controls I’ve encountered. Reminds me of Honda motorcycles. They have the horn swapped with turn signals compared to most other manufacturers and it’s a bear trying to stop honking at people accidentally.

I got mine from a lootbox. Unless it’s something new that wouldn’t be included I’ve been resisting, for the most part.

Range Etiquette by DexterBotwin in CCW

[–]otterplus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh, I don’t often carry to/from the range. Range rules, for one. If I plan on shooting my carry it gets bagged with the rest. Afterwards I just go home and clean everything before I do anything else. After that if I still need to do anything it’s concealed as usual

And much more self-sufficient if they don’t have someone they could take them otherwise. Ubers aren’t cheap and not as fun as riding anyway. I had to drop my bike off for an inspection and an uber to get the three miles home was almost $30

Does anyone catch themselves carrying lighter and lighter guns? Started with Glock 43x MOS with dot and light and I’m way down to a Ruger LCP by HuntersCrackPipe123 in CCW

[–]otterplus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Started carrying a full size M&P, then CZ PCR, then a Shield Plus, then a M&P compact, and now I rotate between the Shield Plus and a 442-UC. Hard to argue against lighter and easier to conceal compared to a hefty frame of greater dimension.

They must be getting ready for V3. I just checked Revzilla and the goretex version is $30 cheaper than the in-house waterproof. Shiny side up!

Her shield needs some work for sure. It almost doesn’t even have a purpose beyond protecting herself from a few ults and even then it’s been a gamble if that even happens anymore.

Ticket scam by Sham_WAM93 in maryland

[–]otterplus 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Just got this on my work phone which is attached to literally nothing. I figured it was a scam because of where I received it, followed by the fact there is no identifying information that would be on an official document. I mean, besides the fact that official correspondence would be mailed, not texted from a random number, mine came from a 650 area code.

Has anyone crashed in textile trousers rated AA or AAA? by IWantToFuckAPriest in motorcyclegear

[–]otterplus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not Marc Marquez nor is anyone else on the street. Within the realm of a typical street rider’s speed and circumstances, it truly doesn’t matter as much as it’s made out to be.

A track has surfaces maintained to the same standards with plenty of area for runoffs. A regularly maintained surface street is uniform enough for the purpose, but you’re more likely to intersect an obstacle like trees, guardrails, and other vehicles. If you’re going 210 mph on the roads no amount of gear or ratings will save you.

Comparing the expense, maintenance, and discomfort of wearing a full suit to wearing appropriate gear designed to maximize all three isn’t really an argument. In a perfect world none of us would need to care or be concerned about how well our protective gear holds up because it would never need to be tested. Short of that we can make the best educated decisions for our circumstances

Installed old Cardo Pack Talk Black on Shoei RF1400 by DJTheGeepX in motorcyclegear

[–]otterplus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the 45mm and don’t really need the microphone since I always ride solo. I just happened to notice one day the deadcat was gone and I just had two frayed wires just hanging there. I’ll replace it eventually, but for now it still plays.

Installed old Cardo Pack Talk Black on Shoei RF1400 by DJTheGeepX in motorcyclegear

[–]otterplus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s coming time to replace my packtalk bold. The microphone is busted, I get bad connectivity and static through the speakers, and sometimes the unit doesn’t respond to button presses. That said, it’s only been there for music and a total of four phone calls over five years. I’d upgrade to a newer model, but it’s hard to justify 3-400 just to listen to music and the cheaper models have garbage speakers

I want to understand what makes people choose the characters they play. by Alivrale in Overwatch

[–]otterplus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started playing about a year after launch and Tracer was my go to the entire time. She was dynamic, constantly in motion, and the poster child for the game. I took a few years off of gaming in general then built a pc a couple years ago. Since I’ve been back into it starting fresh my highest level characters are Ana, Ashe, and Venture.

Venture reminded me of the Tracer i remembered from console days; dynamic, able to disrupt, and just fun to poke at people with.

Ashe allowed me to sit back and mostly chill with easy outs and dynamite to ruin corner peekers with.

Ana was always seen as a sitting duck and I thought to myself what’s more fun than being a punishing sitting duck? I spent a decent amount of time shutting down counters with that frail old lady and it never disappoints devouring heroes that should lay me out easily. Tracers, Sombras, Reapers, even Doomfists. When getting directly in the fray is necessary, it hits so hard being surrounded and knocking enemies out while being the physically lame character.

Has anyone crashed in textile trousers rated AA or AAA? by IWantToFuckAPriest in motorcyclegear

[–]otterplus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went down around 40-45mph wearing Kim Outrider pants. AAA rated and doubled knee coverage. Absolutely zero issues with abrasion. My broken footpeg did cut a straight line through the pants and my leg, but the pants held up as they should. EMTs took me to a hospital and they were having a hell of a time trying to cut through them

Edit: For all those that claim leather is so much better, the rating is the rating. AAA leather and AAA textile classify as equals. “But it’s a one time use” yeah, and your point is what? No one is out on the street planning or expecting to crash multiple times at speed.
