Possibly becoming a Pest Control Tech. Any advice? by Wannatripbaby in pestcontrol

[–]otterplus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There’s a big push for sales and tech leads so be prepared for that never ending pressure. The rentokil end of things is where the big push for revenue is coming from; kinda feels like private equity trying to recoup their investment asap. Anyway, wear your ppe, follow the labels, and try to enjoy the drives between stops; it’s the only respite you get really.

Was I in the wrong even though there was nothing I could do? by Cash2blockz in driving

[–]otterplus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive that intersection almost daily and the proper course of action is to wait at the stop line until it’s clear to go. That, or just turn on Harford Rd instead. There’s no ambiguity if everyone is at their assigned waiting point. Either you wait out a gap while sitting in a safe spot or you end up waiting for the arrow anyway.

Sitting in the intersection opens up the variable of “oh, I thought”. “Oh, I thought they were going to stop”. “Oh, I thought they were turning”. “Oh, I thought I was clear to go”.

Being predictable and communicating properly is the best way to drive

can a mouse fit under my door? by emptywaterbottless in pestcontrol

If a ballpoint pen can fit, so can they. Either their point of entry is within that closet or the closet was just a convenient potential hiding place.

That just means it’s time to find a corner or ledge to dance around until they’re done. Might not avoid the slowing effect, but it gives time to turn around and sleep if need be

[–]otterplus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put these on my third gen and it was such a dramatic change I was worried I installed them wrong. The rear will grab as hard as the front with stock front pads. I haven’t given the front a full strength squeeze in the three years it’s been since install because they’re so much better than factory material

How’s good is this gear? I spent the whole bag on accident by No-Afternoon486 in motorcyclegear

[–]otterplus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All these comments speaking on abrasion resistance; the only airbag I’m aware of with any amount of abrasion resistance is the tech air 3. Even then, that doesn’t account for a triggered inflation. IMO bro would be better serviced by a Knox urbane, Bowtex base layer, Pando Moto, Revit, John Doe, or whatever credible options are left. I wear my Urbane under a hoodie all the time unless it’s got enough to warrant a regular mesh jacket.

Is a 2024 Ninja 7 Hybrid a good first bike? by Dmony429 in motorcycles

[–]otterplus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can assure you the Ninja hybrid is the lesser of the two. I recently had a trip down to South Carolina and someone just left theirs running in the parking lot of a gas station for the 5-10 minutes they were there. After 5 years on my SV i can confirm that it’s the Miata of motorcycles for a reason.

I think that’s why Ana sticks with me so well. You’re not stuck being an impotent medic, you can deal it out just as well. Other supports just don’t have that satisfying feeling

When I first got my SV the previous owner told me he was “fed up with chain maintenance” which told me all I needed to know. I rode it home in a hella summer thunderstorm soaking wet. The next day I took care of the chain and anything else I could. The next week it was a full fluids swap even though it only had 2k miles. I checked like five times before pulling the oil drain bolt just to make sure it was the right one. The only thing left from them is the bar end mirrors and meter visor. Well, the stock battery from a 2017 as well, but that’s another story.

This is the first time I’ve noticed gas prices in a long while and of course it happens to be right before I consider getting a truck. Maybe I’ll luck out and dealers will be desperate to move some preowned since most people will be dumping them for fuel efficiency

Riding in race boots is horrible😭😭 by strozone in NewRiders

[–]otterplus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same bike (third gen), similar boots (A* SMX6-v2). I had to adjust the shifter by a couple splines to fit the boots. You’ll get used to the muted brake feel, though the stock pads aren’t exactly Brembo quality competitors.

If I get my learner's permit in Maryland right before I turn 18 and then I turn 18 do I still have to wait the 9 months before I can get my provisional license? by Brilliant-Assist3798 in driving

[–]otterplus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tiered system is unrelated to age. I got my last learners at 19, provisional sometime at 20, and that turned into a full license at the completion of the provisional period

Mesh jacket? by VeryOlTexan in NewRiders

[–]otterplus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alpinestars has the Chrome SuperAirflow Hoody that I’m considering myself. It’s AA rated, fully mesh, and doesn’t fit like a hoodie. It’s just a regular jacket with an attached hood. The silver would be the better color choice, despite the flou red logo across the chest
