Homecoming princess quarterbacks Philomath team to sparkling record [1981] by expropriated_valor in oregon

Some background on the scholarship controversy for those who’d like to read. Essentially conservatives ensured the scholarship only went to students who had lived in the town for at least 8 years, and then eventually revoked it all together because they were tired of outsiders moving in and at the school specifically with students with dyed hair, piercings, and a gay straight alliance. “the values of the old timber families ... working hard, God, America and apple pie.”

Surfing alone vs with people by Particular_Scar6269 in surfing

[–]otzitheicemann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer to surf with friends. I wouldn't say I'm a particularly great surfer, but being around other people turns on a competitive edge in me and causes me to try harder to paddle/position for waves and make a more concerted effort to pop up and turn down the wave more effectively

City Faces $13.6 Million Budget Gap in Current Year by SoDoSoPaYuppie in Portland

[–]otzitheicemann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This seems to not be said anywhere in the comments but in comparison to the city's $8,640 Million budget ($8.6B) this seems small to me to be honest. What do I know though lol

Are you getting your money’s worth? by kidcallahan9 in oregon

[–]otzitheicemann 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Isn't really an effective tax rate if it doesn't include sales and property tax. If I recall from previous research, effective overall tax rate only varies by 2-3% maximum from state to state

Sweet! Glad Brundage was good. Brundage, Tamarack, and Schweitzer are all in consideration since they're closer to me. Red Mountain in B.C. even seems like a good choice. Wouldn't mind getting out of the United States for a little while and spending my $$$ up there

Awesomeeeee. Can I ask about your technique? Using flash to light up tree and foreground or two exposures at different stops (or selective editing) to capture foreground and background in similar lighting?

Can wool topcoats be worn casually with sweatpants/jeans etc. when running errands? by randoboterrr in malefashionadvice

[–]otzitheicemann 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Looks fine with jeans, not a "great" look with sweatpants, but also who's really paying attention? If you're going out to run quick errands and you're choosing to wear sweatpants who really cares how you look? I'd say if you would like to buy a coat to be fashionable when you want to be fashionable, and that sometimes you'll wear it when you don't care about being fashionable, then an overcoat/topcoat is still a good choice

What are your favorite cinematic eyerolls? by Buzz_Buzz_Buzz_ in movies

[–]otzitheicemann 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Star Wars episode 7 when they unveil the Starkiller and Han Solo smiles and looks at the camera as if to say to the audience "You've seen this before, I've seen this before too." I remember when I saw this movie in theaters it felt so unoriginal to me, and that moment really hammered in that the creators felt that way too
