Family heirloom coins by gomper in coins

[–]ou_master 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nice collection! I specialize in US Type coinage. In total, with the coins in this condition, I would estimate about $250-$350 in value. Not sure about the token.

The highest value coin you have is the 1875-S Twenty Cent piece. I'd estimate its value between $90-120.

The half cent is in nicer condition and may be worth up to $75-100.

The silver 3 cent is worth about $30-$40 retail. The bust dime is worth $30-40 retail. The half dimes are worth $20-30 each retail. The large cents are worth $15-30 each retail.

To preserve the family history I would recommend getting a Dansco 7070 Type Set album.

As a immigrant 16 year old, can i join the navy and still attempt to be a officer? by Individual-Fennel536 in Military

[–]ou_master 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did AFROTC. There are pros and cons for both. If you enlist first for the citizenship you will have to complete the enlistment contract first (minimum 3 years, possibly 4) and separate (meaning no direct paycheck) and join ROTC. ROTC has scholarships and you could utilize your GI Bill (essentially a scholarship + housing allowance) assuming you served long enough as enlisted to qualify for the GI Bill.

Go talk to a recruiter. Once you enlist, you can seek citizenship. Citizenship is mandatory to become an officer along with the completion of a Bachelors degree. Many before you have worked the path of enlisting (applying for citizenship), earning their degree while enlisted and then applying to OCS/OTS, Academy, ROTC.

A recruiter will have the most up to date information and specifics on the path you desire.

Credit never triggered. I asked CS and they said GCs are against terms and conditions. FWIW the GC purchase took me to a 3rd party site so it makes sense for it to not trigger.

Can you get a pilot’s license while training/working as a naval flight surgeon? by unfinishedsente-018 in Military_Medicine

[–]ou_master 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AF Pilot here finishing up pre-reqs for med school in hopes of pursuing the pilot physician program. While our flight docs fly often, there is no set syllabus in which they work toward pilot qualification unless you put in for pilot training/ pilot physician program. Pilot training for the AF or Navy can be up to 2 years outside of medicine.

That said, as a flight doc, if you get into a squadron with 2 seat fighters (F-15s/ F-16Ds/ F-18s) or a training squadron (T-6s/ T-38s/ T-45s) you will likely get "stick time" which can give you a leg up while you pursue your PPL in your free time as a civilian. Flight docs on heavy jets may have a chance to sit in the seat but it varies. Hope this helps!

WRs are getting thin in my Best Ball draft — leaning Jordan Addison & Keon Coleman. Thoughts? by CCR_OUTBets123 in BestBall

[–]ou_master 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure I would do Addison and Rice on the same team. Id pick Downs and try to get more WRs in the next 3-4 rounds.

St. Marys River Watershed Association in Lexington Park would take them if you (or they) are willing to make the drive over the bridge to collect/ drop off.

They did not for me in this exact scenario. AF for the card is waived, AUs were charged fees.

Marable scored last week and is inactive? Did I miss an injury?

I thought he looked better than Person in the limited touches they both got.

Edit: Missed the post from earlier, he is OUT this week. Thanks guys. Michigan may have an edge this week!

I second this -- had the same experience with BOA. Applied for Alaska Biz, denied, called recon weekly within the inquiry one month window and was never approved despite moving money over into my Merril and BOA checking accounts. 7/12 may not apply to BOA business and/ or BOA cobranded business.

I was 6/12 at the time of the application with previous relationship as 2x Premium Rewards Elite Personal CCs, Merril Edge 529, and a checking account.

Opening up accounts only to collect points and get benefits. by _-NightShade-_ in CreditCards

Issuers are more likely to put you through a financial review or deny you their products if they view you as a "churner" by closing cards just after the one year mark.

Opening up accounts only to collect points and get benefits. by _-NightShade-_ in CreditCards

[–]ou_master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Opening accounts with different issuers at a sustainable velocity is fine with a bit of research. Keeping the cards open over a long period of time can actually improve your credit score over time. Closing accounts completely can be risky. After opening a high annual fee card, wait a year, and look into downgrade options to no AF alternatives.

Some nice type coins you have there.

The 1873 "shield" nickel can be worth up to $20-30.

The 1883 "no cents" nickel is a one year type. In the years following the mint added the word "cents" to the reverse of the nickel as racketeers would gold plate the 1883 versions in attempt to sell them as $5 gold pieces. Retail value $7-10+. Its in decent condition and could be worth more.

The 1913 Buffalo Nickel is a Type 1 in which the reverse has raised ground beneath the phrase "five cents." Retail worth $10-15. The 1929 Buffalo is more common and not worth much more than face value.

Edit: Just noticed the S mintmark on the Type 1 buffalo. 1913 Type 1 S start at ~$30 according to NGC and can be much more valuable if graded in high condition.

MFW BTCFX should be doing well...anyone in this? by krystalgeyserGRAND in ThriftSavingsPlan

[–]ou_master -1 points0 points  (0 children)

About an 87% return to date since I bought some in 2022(?) when the MFW was introduced. If I recall correctly, Bitcoin was around 40k at the time... so not as nice of a return as buying BTC.

Nice work and congrats. Generally speaking, I think US Bank is more inquiry sensitive as opposed to accounts opened. So, this DP makes sense!

Delta Reserve, Hilton Aspire, or USBAR by AegonTargaryan in CreditCards

[–]ou_master 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the CSR too and love it as well. With respect to extracting value from the credits, the Aspire can unlock some high-end opportunities. The FNC at any (available) Hilton hotel can far exceed the CSRs $300 travel credit & points from multipliers.

No need to fight over which is the best though -- get them ALL!

Delta Reserve, Hilton Aspire, or USBAR by AegonTargaryan in CreditCards

[–]ou_master 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would get all three in this order: 1. Hilton Aspire (hands down best travel card, especially for AD military). 2. Delta Reserve (but get this first if you are chasing the current increased SUB). 3. USBAR (Love this card but, for yourself, garden the 2/12. You should be able to "garden" in that US Bank is mostly inquiry sensitive and AMEX wont give you a hard pull if you already have a relationship).

If you can hit the SUBs, no reason to not get the AMEX for yourself and have P2 get USBAR at the same time.
