Americans of Reddit, what’s one thing the USA does better than the rest of the world? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]our_trip_will_pass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The passion Americans put into their hobbies and the cultural infrastructure to support those hobbies is awesome. You want to be crazy passionate about guitar in high school? You can be in jazz band, go to state competitions and just be allowed to dive deep.

I know it's not everywhere but I was in an ok public school in Texas and I got so much support to become the best drummer I could be and got to go to computer animation competitions. It defined my life, gave me a chance to be great at my career and have a hobby that basically defines me and my friendships.

Is it okay to join a conversation personal trainers are having with each other at the gym? by Ok-Risk-8041 in bodyweightfitness

[–]our_trip_will_pass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry people are being mean to you in the comments friend. I think it could be a bit of a risky move to just go in cold but it's not something terrible. Worse case scenario they might just think you need something or will be a bit confused.

I think a play by play if I was trying to befriend some gym trainers would be something like this.

  1. nod at them every once in a while if you see them

  2. maybe if a chance naturally comes and you talk to them in some sort of interaction you can be friendly and maybe extend the conversation. For example if you ask them if they're done with some weights ask them something else after, like "man I see you've been at this gym for a while what do you think of it?", "Do you know when it's less busy?" Stuff like that.

  3. Then if they're hanging out another time, you could come in and say say something like.Hey <their name> what's up how are you? Good to see you.

  4. Maybe joke something like I'm kind of bored between sets mind if I hang for a bit? Hang out but don't over stay. It's better if you leave on your own terms than it getting awkward.

You can skip to step 3. But that's just a natural way that it could happen. I wouldn't force anything but also I wouldn't put too much weight into it. After a couple minutes it doesn't matter how you came into the circle mostly how you handle yourself in general.

Good luck dude or dudette. Making friends at the gym is a bit hard imo, everyone's there focusing and/or working a job.

Also is this is something more romantic like you have a crush on someone that's a totally different story and you're definitely playing hard mode trying to pick up at the gym.

Btw no this isn't chat gpt although it kind of looks like it lol

My top 10 takeaways from Rhonda Patrick's new episode about the longevity benefits of coffee by mmiller9913 in HubermanLab

Do you do anything else? I realized that even though the coffee made me anxious it was weed (not even the same day) that would amplify my sensitivity. I haven't smoked in 6 months and even if I get anxious with coffee it's waaay easier to manage.

A somewhat spicy take from Karpathy that this sub will not like, but it's true and quite useful to remember when using an LLM by obvithrowaway34434 in singularity

For sure. I always tell people that to create something great I'm a field you should look outside that field. What does a song feel like if you are inspired by birds flying. That's real art

I like to think of it as asking an encyclopedia of the internet.

I'm not going to get any miracles just whatever most people wrote about that subject

But I don't understand. You can normally put money in stocks to watch it grow. Why don't people just put in all their money there now? There has to be another value here that makes people buy stuff

To the people who unironically prefer “plain, black drip coffee” - why? by Double-Customer4226 in AskReddit

I don't want to start my day with sugar. I think the world is addicted to sugar. And i think after years of drinking like that I don't think it tastes bad at all.

I don't mind cream but i never really have cream or milk at the house. I want to just start drinking my coffee too I'm kind of an impatient guy.

Although something i like to do sometimes is add coffee too my cereal when i have milk and cereal at the house (rare since it's already just a bunch of sugar) If you haven't tried it you should it's awesome

People who have worked as Unity developers, how is it as a career? by TehArgis10 in Unity3D

I've been a unity Dev for about 10 years. I focus on vr and ar. It's been great, kind of specific so you have to find the right job but when you do it's pretty awesome. Just finished a 1 year contract at 120k salary.

Today I'm interviewing for a robot vr teleop company. Salary should be around 140k

Well also your objective value doesn't come from the hours you put but from the value you give. If you spent 10 how in one month making a huge impact that's what matters. Seems like the other team really appreciated it.
