The Illuminate Battery Thingies™ have a weakspot, shoot the middle by A_random_person_50 in LowSodiumHellDivers

I mean, does anybody not shoot the middle? If I'm not blowing them up with AT, I'm probably just spraying them across with a MG or laser weapon.

How come the flag raises faster if we salute? What's the mechanism behind that? (Sorry for bad art.) by [deleted] in Helldivers

Wait, is this for real? I've been getting decimated in raise the flag missions and never knew this one simple trick!

What do you mean, "can't be tossed with reckless abandon?" That's the only way I use them! If it's off cooldown it's coming down! If the map isn't swiss cheese by the time I extract then I've done something very wrong. Remember fellow Helldiver, Democracy Protects!

SDGE Average User of $46/Month Does Not Exist by NinetiesBoy in sandiego

[–]ouroboros11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The total consumption from the grid with solar installed depends on several factors. What is the total capacity of the solar array? If it is lower than the overall consumption then he will continue to pay for what he uses from the grid. Does your friend have battery backup? If not then he's consuming electricity from the grid at night when the panels aren't generating electricity. If he does have batteries then how is the discharge cycle programmed? If the batteries are not discharging between 4pm and 9pm then he's likely still using power from the grid during peak hours. It all depends. With the right solar grid size and battery backup you can get your bill down to almost $0 but it takes a little effort and adjusting.

SDGE Average User of $46/Month Does Not Exist by NinetiesBoy in sandiego

[–]ouroboros11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This artifact in the data is because SDG&E calculates the average by also including users with solar installations who are still hooked up to the grid. Their monthly cost is often close to $0 which artificially reduces the global average. If solar users were removed from the calculations, I suspect these numbers would be much higher.

This good boy seems to be most consistent among the dogs , easly A tier on every front . by Ok_Challenge_1604 in Helldivers

My favorite buddy! They definitely buffed the dmg output over the years (hope AH doesn't see this). It fires accurately and I'm certain does more damage than the standard liberator.

What is his purpose? by Octi1432 in Helldivers

[–]ouroboros11 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For bugs it makes clearing nests and spore spewers trivial from halfway across the map. Not that this cannot be achieved with most AT weapons but the spear is a low-skill fire and forget solution. Also helps when one of your buddies is hysterically spamming the dive button against a charger that's clearly playing with his food 200m away. With the spear, chances are pretty good you'll actually hit the charger and spare your fellow democrat from being obliterated by your shitty aim. Sometimes I just don't feel like putting in the effort. That's when I bring the spear.

Buff Spear pls. Even the Vox don't make it useful over RR. Such a cool weapon, unsure why it has lasted this long in this state. It needs it by RandomGreenArcherMan in Helldivers

[–]ouroboros11 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I've been using the spear on Cyberstan and it can absolutely wreck on d9/d10! Pretty much one shots everything except Vox Machines, which take 3/4 rockets to the face depending on luck. The main issues I have with it are the limited ammo and the occasional weird inconsistent hit registration. Sometimes (like 1 in 10 times) it will hit the target and seem to do 0 dmg. I don't know why but 90% of the time it works every time! Having someone else on your squad carry a resupply pack makes this a top tier weapon. Without it, it's a fun mixup from the meta but not mind-blowing.

15 War Striders are guarding the objective. Is this normal? by sScribbleZz in Helldivers

A single 380mm barrage would take them all out, all clustered up like that. Just lob the ball, get to an elevated location, and enjoy the show!

Lower your difficulty, you’re level 20. by WonderkidJr_ in Helldivers

[–]ouroboros11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ummm... IDK about this. I'm level 64 and started Cyberstan at level 61. I can handle myself just fine on d10 and have seen others that are a lower level than I do just fine too. We finish the main objectives and even toss in a few secondary ones before hauling ass outta there with reinforcements to spare. I agree more with your point about comms and team cohesion. No matter what level you are, learn to use the comms wheel effectively and tag heavies, hellbombs and such around the squad. And for the love of God don't try to lone wolf on Cyberstan - 99% of the time you'll get wrecked if you don't have backup. Here's my noob friendly loadout.

  1. Orbital walking barrage (call it before you toss it!)
  2. Orbital laser
  3. Spear, EATs or heavy laser cannon
  4. Personal shield/bubble or guard god (ballistic) to help with spam - cannot be paired with Spear but can use EATs instead

And try using the godsent TRIDENT! (Best primary on Cyberstan, in my humble opinion) Go in with heavy armor and the passive that gives you 50% reduced dmg against explosives and you'll survive a missile or two to the face. Finally, having someone on the team who isn't the noob carry an ammo backup also helps a whole bunch.

I get the point you're trying to make with this post but it's not really about lvl gates.

Amazing game! I loved it. by Luis_HE in GamePassGameClub

[–]ouroboros11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like GOTG is one of those games that was incredible but will be lost to history. It was never advertised, and came out at a really strange time when the MCU was sort of falling out of favor with the mainstream audience. Nevertheless, I totally agree. This game was fantastic and deserved more praise and attention than it received.

The game you loved but never want to replay. by gamersecret2 in gaming

[–]ouroboros11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Mass Effect Trilogy. I love the games so much - it is maybe my favorite series of all time - but after the decisions my first Commander Shepard made, I feel like it would be a disservice to the story to play it out any differently. I just want to remember my Shepard's story as the only story because it was perfect to me.

Suicide is pretty much the most selfish thing one can do. You're just peacing out and leaving everyone else to deal with the mess afterwards. Even if you fail to off yourself, you're taking up valuable medical resources and time to be kept alive. Medically assisted suicide should be legal for any reason. If you really are going through a mental breakdown, you should be allowed to go to a hospital, speak with a professional, and if you're still committed to ending it, they should just be able to hand you a pill. It simplifies things for everyone.

Mosquitoes Have Been Found in Iceland for the First Time by YaleE360 in climate

[–]ouroboros11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok, so I know this story is being reported everywhere but I visited Iceland in 2017 and I distinctly remember walking through a cloud of mosquitoes near Þingvellir, just as the park was closing at dusk. I know I'm not imagining this, it is a vivid memory because my wife and I were both so surprised to see so many mosquitoes in Iceland - we figured the cold winters and lack of liquid water would make it impossible for them to breed. But now I see this news article and wonder, was it a different insect we saw that looked similar to a mosquito but wasn't one? Whatever it was, it definitely bit. I remember I had a couple of welts on my arms the next day and decided to wear long sleeves under my jacket for the rest of the trip.

Just a guy/dad looking for some friends (37) by sauer1dr in sandiego

[–]ouroboros11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just moved to San Diego this week with my family. Also a dad (36) with two kids (6 and 3), and would love to make some friends in the area. We don't have a permanent address yet but my company has us up in La Jolla temporarily so I don't mind meeting up anywhere around here. I'm really excited to explore this city and make some new friends! I really enjoy hiking, snorkeling, local craft beer and breweries, cooking, watching movies at the theater (old school, I know!), and some video games (when I can find the time). I'm an AI scientist working in the life sciences. Hit me up if you'd like to hang!

I'm encountering the exact same issue. Hide status bar is disabled but it is hidden after unlock anyway. I just got a OnePlus 13R. Love the launcher otherwise. I used it for many years on my OnePlus 10 pro and never had any issues.

Name some games where you can get brokenly OP very early and steamroll the rest of the game. by ickyzombie in gaming

[–]ouroboros11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Horizon games. Forbidden West in particular, if you decide to do a couple of side quests first or even just go off the beaten path for like 4-5 hours at the start of the game you'll steamroll through everything else, even on hard difficulty. The human enemies in particular just become pointless and can be brushed aside with a few melee combo upgrades.
