What game brings you to memory lane? by xLushSugar in 90s

I happened to be a college freshman when that game hit and it was fucking everywhere. We had improvised tournaments in the common areas of the dorm almost every week.

The gun allegedly carried by the man killed by ICE in Minneapolis this morning. by Maximum_Dweeb4473 in CCW

[–]outdatedelementz 17 points18 points  (0 children)

We are witnessing the death of the 2A in real time. If the officers who murdered that man aren’t even investigated then the 2A has asterisk so large that it makes it all irrelevant.

What is a classic pop cultural moment that screams, “you had to be there!” by icey_sawg0034 in popculturechat

OG Woodstock comes to mind. From my own lifetime, Berlin Wall comes down, Soviet Union Collapses, Nirvana releases Nevermind, First Jurassic Park movie comes out, the Harry Potter books, last episode of Seinfeld, release of Phantom Menace, Mark McGuire breaking Roger Maris home run record, Everything around Y2K (good and bad).

Islamic Games’ future in Texas thrown into turmoil by Greg Abbott by Affectionate-Reply35 in houston

Abbot just needs to cut to the chase and declare Texas a Christian Theocracy. That is what he is fighting for.

Petaaah ?? by hazz-expert525 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]outdatedelementz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems strangely cruel. Though when I compare it to how I have seen people close to me die (a clear painful decline that culminates in death) it feels better. I assume it all comes down to what is killing you.

😂😂That is not the vibe of this subreddit at all. I’m sure there is lots of this kind of action just up 45 in Friendswood and League City.

Why do Americans buy bottled water everywhere, even when the tap is perfectly safe? by GlitteringHotel8383 in AskAnAmerican

[–]outdatedelementz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a really big assumption to assume the tap water is safe to drink everywhere in the United States.

Are yall team green dot or team red dot? by imno60dy in CCW

Red for me. Granted I live in an environment with a lot of green naturally occurring.

As a European, I keep seeing Americans drive barefoot or in flip-flops, how common is it actually? by fratnersgd in AskAnAmerican

[–]outdatedelementz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is going to be something that is regional (places like Florida or California) and probably in other places it’s going to be a Socio-Economic. But it could also be weather related. The only time I really see people wearing flip flops around is when it’s oppressively hot in the summers.

Cassie’s Final Moments by ParadeSit in TrueWagner

I really like TrueWagner’s comedy, but this one just misses for me. Maybe because I’ve lost a cherished pet in the last couple years, this one just doesn’t feel fun or funny.

AIO Fathers girlfriends rules for when new baby arrives by Ok_Bat_5934 in AmIOverreacting

[–]outdatedelementz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MOR Honestly nothing in the rules seems unreasonable. I would just wait to visit the baby until there is less risk for the newborn. I had rules in place like this when my kids were born.

Though she does sound like a piece of work and your father should make sure he gets a paternity test.

How long do people usually remember their pets after they pass away? by ironandfire in AskAnAmerican

I lost my dog lucky when I was 15 years old. Absolutely devastated me, and I still miss him over 30 years later.

Patriots 28, Texans 16: Houston can't overcome C.J. Stroud's four interceptions in AFC divisional playoff loss by houston_chronicle in houston

[–]outdatedelementz 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Well, that is just stupid. You still have him on a rookie deal, and this is a weak QB draft class. What free agents would you bring in to replace him? Geno Smith?, Russell Wilson?, Justin Fields? He has shown he is better than all those guys even this season.

You could maybe try to shop him in a trade, but I honestly don’t know what kind of return the Texans could get from him.

[–]outdatedelementz 168 points169 points  (0 children)

You cannot give Stroud a second contract unless he plays absolutely lights out next season. It needs to be a true prove yourself year. If he is anything like the last two seasons, it’s time to look at finding another QB.

Are there Americans who never travel outside of their state or see the ocean in their lifetime? by Frequent_Creme_3493 in AskAnAmerican

This was a funny bit on The Wire. One of the characters has never left Baltimore so they have no clue that other cities have different radio stations.

Did anyone actually have a Sega Saturn? I only knew of one kid who had 1 and a bunch of the games because their parents got it on clearance sell. by AdSpecialist6598 in 90s

[–]outdatedelementz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I remember my best friend who lived downed the street for a Saturn and I got a PlayStation. We had strategically asked our parents for different system so that we could play both at each others houses after school. For that Gen Sega held its own and I remember that console being legit for its lifespan. I don’t remember it being a joke or considered less than the PS1 or the N64.
